That light being so close to the wood shavings reminds me of when Lester's deck caught fire when he was trying to keep puppies warm using one of those lights. You shouldn't need the light except maybe at night.

I am so happy that you got these baby chicks and pray that NOTHING gets them. I have felt bad for the one chicken, left all by itself. I grew up on a dairy farm in South Dakota and we raised many chicks every year. I can still remember how loud all the boxes of babies were, sitting in our back car seat as we drove home. Those tiny things were LOUD since there were so many of them. I am one who will enjoy your baby chicks videos. 🥰🥰

Hi Dan and Lou, your chicks are so cute. I’ve often thought about raising my own but the temps are so extreme here that I’d have to heat my garage in winter to have a winter place for them. I get free range eggs from my egg lady that brings them to town every 3 weeks for $3/dozen. They taste so much better than store eggs.

Hi Dan, just wanted to say that horses will founder ( get sick and die ) on rye grass or even new spring grass. It's best to feed them hay in the winter and early spring, then let them out on pasture after the grass has been growing for a month or more. Fun video.

So happy and excited for you❤ you might already know this or Kim might have mentioned it but if you put just a teaspoon I probably would not do more than a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar with mothers in it in the water when you fill it all the way up it can help keep the water more sterile and kill the bacteria if there is any just an idea❤

Hey Dan, something tht I found a lot safer than using a light, because the lights get so dang hot on tht bedding stuff. I went to Tractor Supply and they have this “heat board” idk what exactly they’re called, sorry I don’t remember. I bought me a couple of them last yr and they just sit right in the bedding or on the floor of whatever ur using to keep them warm. Because I do hatch different kinds of chicks, including the little silkies like Bri has. Hopefully this will help ya out 👍🏻 the chicks will get under it or the sit on top of it and it’s just something u don’t have to worry about burning something up or down. But yeah Kim does know what she’s talking about when it comes to the chicks. I agree with her about the bedding because the thicker u make tht stuff the harder it is to clean tht stuff out when they poo all in it and spill food/water. And they do stick to the chicks butts when they poo and if ya don’t clean tht off it will/can “take” ur chicks out. I hope u guys r successful with them all, God bless u all 🙏🫶🏻 Have a blessed Sunday.
