I discovered Google Earth street view and go on virtual road trips everywhere and visit old haunts that my chair can’t access. It’s like a drone for me 😃 I use it on my most symptomatic days during the winter. Also it’s free on any device. The little things 👩🏽🦽🦹♂️

Intense! I wonder what my daughter would think of this!!! She wouldn't be able to fly the drone, but just letting her see things from that perspective would be interesting!!!

that was awesome! I've been wanting to get in to drone racing for years but living near an airport makes it hard since flying one around here is illegal, but now just thinking about got my power assist on wheelchair maybe i could get out west away from the planes and find some places to do it.

Love that I came across this! I’m a C7 quad 9 years post. I fly drones like these and others for work. It’s a great hobby. Even with weaker hand function I can fly do don’t let that stop anyone from checking it out!

my injury happened when I was 8, I loved the wheelchair sports, my parents however felt the way you did. So I didn't get to attend accessible summer camps or competitive sports, rugby, basketball, or tennis. They didn't want attention put on their disabled kid, They did apologize for it when I was in my 30's saying "they just wanted me to have a normal life" and not hang out with cripples. Yay

that's so sad, but they likely didn't know any better

@@ShadeMiller ...honestly, I suspect the doctors, physiotherapists and counsellors told them during my rehab. We're Canadian a lot of support is available for young people for free. Or at least it was back then. I try not to think about it, or how my life would have been different. It doesn't matter anymore. unfortunately, apologies just don't fix it.

@Wheels2Walking I got into flying fpv drones and planes back in 2016. I love it, it's such an inclusive sport and I feel so free. I had the exact same feelings towards wheelchair sports in my 20s and now I'm late thirties I found myself getting involved in these sports again and wished i did it when I was younger. I think it might be a mindset thing. In my 20s I cared a lot more about what people thought of me and their perception. I also think I was still angry and getting used to my new life. Now I'm older with kids I don't care what people think, I just wanna do what makes me and my family happy. Hope you're well and keep doing what you're doing.

I play Wheelchair Rugby League, which is a mixed sport - all genders, all abilities. A lot of the guys on my team aren't in a chair during their daily life, but they get in the chair to play the sport. Its cool because its a great bonding opportunity for people with disabled friends or family members to play together. We have a pair of brothers, one with CP one able bodied, and once they're strapped in its a level playing field. Another team in our league has a father/son duo with a similar story - one disabled, one able bodied. So if anyone is looking for a mixed sport, WRL is a good choice. And its super competitive as well, lots of smashing together and weaseling around each other to score tries :D

my disabilities are cerebellar atrophy and hypokalemia periodic paralysis which means i have balance issues and sometimes i just wake up paralyzed. and hearing your story is like 'what?!' and seeing you do the things you do, its like 'I have no right to complain... like what I've been through is elementary compared to yours' 😁😁 keep up the good work and keep inspiring 👍👍👍

I started out with a $20 drone learning to fly acro line of sight. If you want to jump up to something with a camera to fly acro the Emax Tinyhawk 2. It’s about $200 but it comes with batteries, goggles, and a controller.

bro you have got top chill with the super loud music interludes, it is hell on those of us who might have sensory issues or wear hearing aides , or those who have strong startle reflex, , not to mention highly annoying having to turn up the speakers to hear you talk, then quickly turn down the speakers when that music starts blaring, come on bro, accessibility, loud jarring music is not fun for everyone, that aside, i do enjoy adrenaline, ( flying, skiing, hockey, roller coasters, ) and this drone racing seems badass !!
