It really didn't look good in person and I don't think adding oil to it would help. I did oil that area a little as it was dry and also looked like it still had fine saw dust on it. As seen in the video, that was the least of the problem and it went. I've had a new one that looks awesome for about a week now. What I would expect from Air Arms and a gun the cost a 1k.

I hope someone gets it that likes it after the issue with the compression tube is fixed. It sure wasn't up to my expectations on a 1000.00 springer. The replacement met expectations and then some.

I was on the fence about the stock color but I just looked it up online and seen the cost. Send that sucker back. You paid for perfect because that is what they advertise and price for. I like the scope though. Can't wait to hear how it treats you.

Yeah, I was really disappointed Arm Arms ever sent that stock out to begin with on their flagship springer. That and it looks like they messed up the button's on the compression tube. This gun isn't suppose to have any metal to metal contact in the receiver to compression tube and the piston inside the compression tube. There's definitely metal to metal contact on the compression tube. Ordered a new one today and they were no help. Was supposed to ship out today and it didn't so now it looks like next Monday to get a replacement.

Personally I absolutely love that stock. Yes it's not what you might call regular but that's what makes it jump out to me, I think it looks stunning and would absolutely pick that over any standard boring walnut stock that every rifle seems to come with these day. 👍😍

Here the thing. If you saw it in person you might change your mind. It's still of Oh, that looks cool. It's WTF happened here lol. You look at the gorgeous nice fairly dark walnut and pattern and then there's. Dang that looks like it still has a little saw dust in the checkering and why is this part gray. Someone said that it's wood that was too close to the sap line. Too me it look like the wood had been in water or something. I don't mind character, but not into walnut with an ugly streak. Inside or low light you don't notice it as much, just that it's a lighter color. Outside you see wood that is off color and didn't take stain. Had a dry white powdery look before I oiled it down. I figure if they couldn't get it to take stain, it wasn't going to get much better than that.

@charlesoutdoors2424 Yes, at the end of the day, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. These stocks are all made by the Italian company Minelli, who are renowned for making some of the finest in the world. They have extremely high standards which is why so many famous companies use their stocks. I think your stock will only get darker over time like all wood. When you look at Oak when it's new, it is almost white but within a few years starts to change and will eventually go black. I think your stock will age wonderfully over time and will certainly become a prized stock. Yes it's different but celebrate that, I think it looks fantastic because it's so different. I wish I had it, don't be a sheep and be bold (in the nicest way). Most Walnut is so boring these days so celebrate it when you have something so different. All my old stock are the best one with so much character where I get so disappointed these day. The finest Walnut was always obtained from France but sadly it's to expensive now and only used in high end stocks now. Keep up your great videos, from a 67 year old shooter from England in the UK. 😁👍

@@brynybach7741 Unfortunately the decision on whether to keep the stock or not didn't matter. There was metal to metal contact between the receiver and compression tube cutting groves into the compression tube and I had to send it back. Waiting on replacement to arrive any minute.

@charlesoutdoors2424 Never mind, I'm sure someone else will love it. I did notice you put some oil or silicone on the underlever links and on the breech slide. Keep the breech slide clean and 'dry' as oil or grease can attract dust or grit and may cause scratches when opening and closing. This part does not need to be lubed as this is outside of what needs to be lubricanted and best kept dry. Whenever I strip mine down, that's one part you definitely don't want to lube. These rifles are so easy to strip and maintain yourself (unlike many others). This rifle can be completely stripped (apart from the trigger mechanism) and put back together in under ten minutes with just a hex key and a screwdriver. Of just my five springers, this is one of the sweetest to shoot and as you said yourself, no 'twang' from the off unlike every out of the box Weihrauch I've ever tried. Hope you enjoy your replacement one. 😁👍

Maybe it's just me....I just see and amazing grain on that cheek-piece! ...am I missing something? I have on in beech and a TX200 in walnut .....the walnut is very matt and needs linseed oiling or coating really....but it's a beautiful timber nevertheless.

It's hard to capture the true color of it, but it's like it wouldn't take stain and was more gray. Up on the grip is was almost white. I put a little oil on it because it looks very dry when trying to see something in it that would look good with some oil finish applied. Seriously though no matter how hard I tried all I seen was a piece of wood with a bad section running through it that looked really off from the rest of the stock. There was nothing amazing about that section of stock in person. Squinting didn't help either. At 6:10 can can see that's just not right.

Thanks for explaining the problem Sir. I have a few Air Arms rifles and had an issue with my TX200 walnut stock. The grain was very weak at the rear of the cylinder area and a piece broke with the recoil. I spoke with the shop and then directly with AA who sent me a new stock absolutely free and an amazing piece of timbre. They are very good with customer service in my experience. I now have 2 walnut stocks lol 🙏🏻🙂

Send it back! Don’t settle for what you don’t want. Man I hope your replacement from AD is better. Does PA and AD share warehouses? Those gouges looks bad 😮 I think it took mine some pellets for it to settle down and smooth out. Shooting my Pro Sport is amazing but it gets tiresome after a while. Cocking is stiff but smooth. The cocking level digs into my hands and gets annoying. Hopefully the TX will feel more comfortable. Do you own a TX? If so, how does it compare to the PS?

I don't have a TX200 yet. It's on my want list, But so is the HW35E in Walnut. That gun is a pure classic in European Walnut. AG has a warehouse, the last few times I ordered it shipped from Ohio where PA is instead of Utah.

Yeah, i was really disappointed in the stock. i was disappointed the cocking wasn't smooth as a gun that has full bushings and no metal to metal contact. I think they forgot some bushings because that's metal to metal contact for sure. It cut groves deep enough I can run my fingernail down.

There's different levels of fussy. You mean like only one pellet that will shoot a one jagged hole group at say 25 yards or is it more dime to quarter size groups.

Hi Charles as others have said send it back. Never seen anything like that on a Pro Sport in regards to those gouges. The Pro Sport and indeed the TX200's are top end springers which you pay top dollar for, anything less than perfect send back. 👍👍👍

It's headed back tomorrow and a new one should be here Friday or Monday. I expect a decent looking stock. I tried to find some beauty in that light weird grained part of the stock hoping something cool looking was hiding there. I even put a bit of oil on it after I got it and it helped a little. I couldn't figure out why they finished it out in the first place. Didn't end up mattering after the other problem.

Hi Charles. You are definitely entitled to a new one. The gun is not fit for purpose. I expect the stock coloration is getting near the sap line. The timber should be completely de-sapped before use on a gun of this price point. When you think of it most cheap guns have pretty good stocks.

@@3421958 Did it look like I was worried about accuracy with the issue I had going on? Did I even say I had a problem with accuracy? Unless I drop my gun on the scope I have no issue with turning my gun over on the scope or it affecting accuracy. Now I won't get rough and put to much pressure on the scope if i roll the gun over on it. Putting pressure on either end could damage the scope. Would take a lot of pressure down on the scope between the mounts to affect it, but I still wouldn't recommend it. After doing it for over 15 years without issue, personally, I did find it funny.

Seems like you can get a bad one whether it's 100.00 or 1000.00. The stock just had some sapwood that is normally avoided when they cut the blanks, but maybe some people think's it looks unique and like it. The real issue was something wrong between the compression tube and receiver cutting groves in the compression tube where there should be no metal to metal contact. Got the new one now and kept an eye on it as I opened and closed the cocking lever. No sign of this one having an issue.

A bit over priced, but the new one I received looks and shoots awesome. The draw to the Pro Sport is the looks with it's hidden underlever giving it a clean look like a tradition rifle. No lever or tank hanging out under the barrel. As far as accuracy I can't say it's more accurate the my HW97k. Some days I shoot one better than the other. The Pro Sport isn't for everyone as it's harder to cock and costs a bit more.

Amazing overpriced AA. It has only one advantage over Hw - you can strip the gun and keep the scope on. Nothing justify AA pricing. For the price of AA you can buy HW and pay easily for system conversion LOL

@charlesoutdoors2424 22 күн бұрын
If you think about both AA and HW are pretty expensive. Especially when you add in a Walnut stock. Just a good tune kit is closer to 100.00 now. By the time you put just a tuning kit in the HW97K your in the TX200 price range. AA has a bit better fit and finish than HW these days. A little more elegant is probably the right word. HW is now laser etching their name and everything on their guns. It's not really bad. AA looks more like theirs is nicely engraved - Elegant 😆. You can disassemble an Air Arms with just a few simple tools. No spring compressor required, not that I would need to on the Pro Sport, but I may put a little molly paste on the piston some day.
