New Airport Terminal Puts Philippine City of Cebu on the International Tourism Map

A new terminal building in the Mactan-Cebu airport, is helping the city of Cebu in the Philippines position itself as a domestic and international tourism hub.
Covering an area of around 65,500 square meters, the world class facility hosts 26 airlines that fly to both international and domestic destinations. The new terminal aims to serve 11.2 million passengers by end of 2018.
The construction of the new facility is part of a public-private partnership (PPP) program supported by the Asian Development Bank.
PPPs are a major part of the Philippine government’s agenda, which advocates a “build, build, build” program under which major infrastructure projects are built to encourage investments, create jobs, and help people and goods move faster.

The inside is used for lines for check-in so you can't expect them to place seats there. The airport terminal interior is not even that big. The canopy has a lot of space so best to utilize it. One minor problem is already enough for you to judge this? It has more advantages than disadvantages it's just you probably try to look for the small problems and make a huge fuss about it. For once just appreciate how this airport and the country as a whole is changing.

The limitations of Mactan airport is the single runway. When the improvements were made to Mactan airport, the proposed second runway was deleted. The decision apparently was made by politicians not by aviation experts. The modern terminals may have a capacity to handle 50,000,000 passengers a year but a single runway cannot handle the all the airplanes moving that number of passengers.

Critical Thinker This project undergoes bidding meaning multiple stakeholders are encourage to take part on covering the cost and also to speed up the process, thats where PPP comes into play. Taxpayers moneys are already in placed thats why theres an initiative to build the airport. You can’t build an airport without a budget. A budget comes from the revenue that the government collects at the end of every period. Budget are allocated but only a portion of it are placed in to infrastructure. The govt can either asked for a loan or hire private enterprise to do the job or both, whichever works.

I disagree. Just went through this airport. So small nothing to eat so few restos. No place to sit. Very limited facilities. Still terminal 3 in mla is more tolerable than this airport.

Well if I have the power to do so. I would like Cebu to stand alone because surely the Queen City of the south could do that. If I am not mistaken there was an issue about this but other provinces won't allow it due to economic issues. Since time immemorial almost all of Cebu's progress are due to PPP. We didn't even benefitted from this BUILD3X BULLSHIT. As one of the highest tax payers we're just treated as milking cows. Cebu needs FEDERALISM.
