Ford is electrifying the iconic Explorer brand to deliver for Europe a new adventure-ready mid-sized crossover with two rows of seats. Engineered and built in Germany with striking American style, the new electric Explorer epitomises an exciting fresh approach to the way we move. This is the first in a wave of new electric vehicles for Europe that will signal a complete reinvention of the brand.
Explorer is the first vehicle to power off the assembly line at the new Ford Cologne Electric Vehicle Center in Germany. Equipped with futuristic looks and an ultra-modern, five-seat interior, it offers a seamless digital experience to meet the demands of Europe’s most tech-savvy customers.
The SYNC Move fully connected infotainment system - complete with 14.6-inch movable screen - wirelessly integrates Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Music lovers will appreciate both the performance and the look of the stylish soundbar-style B&O speaker, while advanced driver assistance technologies and the comfort of heated, sculpted, sporty front seats will help deliver a reenergising drive. There’s even a massaging driver’s seat.
Explorer will take longer journeys and road trips in its stride, with more than 600 km driving range possible from a single charge of the extended range rear-wheel drive model. Approximately 26-minutes fast charging can raise energy levels from 10 per cent up to 80 per cent for the extended range all-wheel drive model.
Practical as well as smart, the movable screen can conceal My Private Locker for securely storing valuables. For bulky items, the 17-litre capacity MegaConsole’s clever storage is roomy with space enough for multiple 1.5-litre drinking bottles or a laptop. That leaves the boot free for luggage, camping kit and sports equipment. Altogether, that makes for storage of about 490 litres in five-seat mode.
