I agree about gendering toys. Any kid should be able to play with whatever they want. When my daughters were kids, they got all kinds of toys including tool sets, race cars and Legos.

Yeah, it’s wild to me that American Girl still insist on using gendered language in marketing. To assume that a product line about girl characters is only interesting to girls, is archaic IMO

@@idreamofjonny My coworker hadn't heard of AG dolls until I told her about them last week. She immediately went on their site with plans to have her daughter AND son each pick one out! It's a nice way for siblings to have a shared interest. And yes, I do enjoy the format of this video because I'm one of those who sews while watching YT videos :)

My son and daughter both have 18 AG dolls, Wellie Wishers and bitty babies, my son prefers the boys(wish there were more selection for clothes) but he’s welcome to choose whatever dolls he likes.

I loved this style of video! Though your normal content is great when we get to see your facial expressions. I think its smart to rerelease 88, she's very popular. I tried ignoring her at first, but my friend got me her during the sale for Christmas and now I adore her. I would be GAGGED if they rerelased the #4 mold in this new release.

I talked to someone at the AG store in NYC when buying the Kirsten sticker set (trying to do my part lol), she said they all hope she comes back too, but no news/they only get info maybe a month before something new comes out. I would imagine if there was something it would probably be around her Birthday which is in the summer . (there could be a surprise release too. But seemingly not in the first part of the year)

I would love to see Asian and Hispanic boy dolls brought back, and more representation for boys. And I would love to see a new headsculpt that would showcase representation of a child with Downs Syndrome. I’m not wild about t-shirt dresses, and would love to see them being back meet outfits similar to the older Truly Me meet outfits, but I do understand the cost issue.

I love your take on AG! You're spot on with your theory and the ideology of Mattel. They are really now paying attention to the adult doll collectors and the buying power they have. Money talks...which was a popular dance song in the late 90s also. I stand by my vision of a rainbow wig classic mold boy doll. Ever since Lance from * NSYNC dyed his a blue color for Trolls franchise premier last year with the newest movie I have wanted a boy doll with light skin and rainbow hair. 😊 Love the videos you make bc you have great ideas and a good amount of knowledge on Pleasant Company now AG and Mattel overall.

If we get a new boy doll, I could totally see them giving him color streaks in his hair! They're gonna have to step it up with the outfit range though, because I will need clothes to match if they do! I'm really hoping American Girl continue to cater to the collector market too. I really am wishing for a much bigger Barbie x AG line!

I agree with the robes. I wish they had them separate. I got the PJs for my dolls and love them. I agree they need stop inventing the wheel when new dolls come out. I like the new fun ones with hair colors and new molds.

Podcasts are fun and it could be an easier way to talk about other lines/collectibles/news/to buy or anti-hauls. Like a monthly doll chat/news. But maybe it oversteps on patreon? I guess certain dolls that are very popular and that’s why they basically are having a rerelease. I feel sorry for any completionists lol Tbh with the pets I feel like there is less of an emphasis than in the 2000s. There was so much with Coconut. The shower cap reminds me of a coconut type accessories. I would love a coconut accessory rerelease for just the nostalgia. So maybe… if pets are popular it could happen? Sadly since it’s after Hoffman twins no mini coconut. Also for the gendered AG I wish they just used the “brand” color of that red, rather than having pink. Both for all fans, and also brand consistency. It also reads less as AG in hot pink. I feel like the kids/ag outfits today are more close to what children wear. Many of the lines I think relate more to things children like. (Like the pastel color iridescent) I feel like the 00’s clothes were more aspirational lol! Myself-peers/around the age of AG customer base would dress in graphic tees/layered long-short-tanks etc., and jeans/cargo pants…only. I think the birthstone collection is sort of close to that aspirational no 10 year old would wear sort of vibe… I guess the dream of all dream would be new molds right? Excited for the shop 🛍️✨

I'm always experimenting with different styles and ideas, and it's definitely nice to be able to make audio-only videos when there's a new release that I want to review quickly! I swear American Girl made me a really big fan of the color burgundy. I never thought I'd say I prefer that to pink, but I agree with you! Maybe it could've been burgundy on one side and pink on the other hehe. I see what you mean about the TM outfits. I have noticed how some of them seem like stuff a teacher in the 90s would wear LOL And yes, new molds would be awesome!

If the hat set has a child’s size it’s possible it will fit me, I’m often stuck with youth motorcycle helmets because so few adult helmets are made to fit my small head.

I'm still not into the printed eyelashes. They are pretty in some ways, but I think it makes them look older in a way I don't like. I also think it makes them look wrong next to the dolls without eyelashes. I just went to the American Girl Store this weekend and I was pretty much planning to either get a Truly Me 106 or Rebecca and I ended up with Rebecca because once I saw the eyelashes in person I really didn't love them.

If there is a revamp of 88 she will get a new number...they did that with 27 and 100. They are basically the same doll...just a different outfit and painted lashes. I think there were 2-3 dolls they did that with. I believe the Fandom page tells which ones were remakes.

I like the podcast as well, but I also like true video. I hate the truly me painted lashes on most of the dolls. I don’t mind them too much on the Corrine mold and on darker skinned dolls. We removed the paint on both the Nanea and joss mold truly mes and I think they look so much better. I love the claudie mold. I hope they make her in a few skin tones. Marketing the 90’s era stuff isn’t necessarily just for adult collectors. Girls who were 10 in 93 are now 40. That means there are a lot of kids in the 7-13 age group whose parents were 90’s kids. You see the flashbacks in multiple retailers- Walmart, target etc. It happened back around 2000 when all the 70s styles became popular again. It’s exactly what you feel when you collect the dolls from the catalogs that you looked at when you were a kid- but most people are probably buying for their kids. Not saying there aren’t adult collectors, but the bread and butter I suspect is still kids.

As someone who collects pleasant company in early American products I don't think I will be buying the new dolls I don't like the painted on eyelashes and I feel like the quality not just with quality control but the way that they have been slapping rainbow wigs onto all the dolls and everything just looks a plastic my life as set in my opinion I think American girl is a former shadow of itself
