Good video, explained it well. Just did a swap of a cylinder with original valve connection at Bunnings and the staff there did not know that the new ones were still compatible with POL appliances.. she said I was in luck that an old one was there for me to buy. Hence I come looking to swap n go for an explanation… nothing to worry about!

Great explanation - gee I wish the staff would know more at my local servo!

I swapped out my empty cylinder for one of these new type of cylinders with the black knob not realising the different fitting. Damn thing leaked gas from the get go had to switch back to the standard green knob cylinder.

I really wish somone told me about this. I had a bottle with this check valve but the valve knob was stuck open didin't know until i got it home. This was soooo dangerous it relied om the used to remember to turn off the the BBQ gas knob.

Admittedly have only tried one of the new fitting gas bottles but could not stop gas leak whilst using a POL fitting on it, Even swapped O-ring but still leaked, ended up swapping bottle for a standard Pol fitting and no leak. Maybe a a dodgy fitting/thread?

so seeing as this is the exact same fitting as the LPG pumps for cars I see a lot of people filling up on the cheap from the servo instead of the over priced swap and go

Why bother with the "New clockwise" external fitting ? The diagram/s are limited in their specificity, but the standard POL fitting still pushes in the newer "Back Check Valve" when screwing in POL fitting. Is there still 'some gas loss' if tap is open when screwing in or out the POL fitting ?? Works just ike the stop valve on some garden hose fittings. Only opens when another fitting pushes in. Hmmm - Ted

Your bottles don’t work with type 27 fittings

Early Feb 2024 I picked up 2 SWAP 'N GO 8.5 kg bottles in south-west Brisbane. New hose fitting - all the stickers from SWAP 'N GO. One of the bottles was date stamped 2002 - with a 10 year validity that means it expired the safety date in 2012. So that bottle has been illegally filled and "re-serviced" for the past 12 years. Rang ELGAS not interested - "contact the retailer." Went to the local service station supplier the next day for either a replacement bottle or a refund. Refused. There are outlets that refill 9 kg bottles for $24.95 - the bottles are not accepted for refill if the date is not valid. SWAP 'N GO swap 8.5 kg bottles for $32. Photographic record available. Could ELGAS have met all the safety requirements and omitted restamping the validity date? Possibly. Regardless their pricing is excessive and their customer service non-existent if the above is representative. SWAP 'N GO not for me
