Stainless Steel Hose Clamp (Jubilee Clip) actually is much better & safer than factory sealed Ferrule. A ferrule is a round metal sleeve that's permanently swaged, or clamped, on to the end of a hose during the manufacturing process to prevent inexperienced people to adjust it. It's usually made of a zinc alloy. You will find Ferrule on gas hoses in most of western countries because of Gov regulations but most of the world uses Jubilee Clip on gas hoses. Furthermore, as per video (time 8:22) I have checked for gas leaks with the soapy water and there wasn't any leak. Hose I have on the video is made to transfer gas from one cylinder to another, not for permanent use. Thanks for watching and your comments

Well... if you watch the video and read all the comments you will have been exposed to all the considerations on how to do it properly and as safe as possible in your own backyard. What you do with that new knowledge is your responsibility. I learnt a lot actually.

Thanks for you comments. The main issue is the gas transfer hose, it isn't available for sale in Australia. Some may see my work very dangerous but if you think about it for while, all what I am trying to do is making a transfer hose that isn't available.

Nice one Aussie. Sometimes a bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing. I have seen Jubilee clips come loose at pressures as low as 6 bar. Propane tanks are ~10bar. Whats happening in the tank is that the propane is a liquid under that pressure. With gas sitting at the top of that. As the gas is used/released the temp drops. Thats why the bottle gets cold like that. Naturally you want to transfer as much liquid as possible to the bottle as transferring the gas is going to take a very long time. Before starting. Make sure the empty bottle is completely empty. Then start the process with the full bottle upside down. This will mean taht only the liquid is being transferred and the process will be very quick. Note. You can buy the crimp type hose clamps at bunnings. They are cheap and you will get a much better hold on the hose.
@ezy2Learn5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment :) I never seen crimp clamps at bunnings and I totally agree with you about Jubilee clips if they are made of zinc alloys as I have seen them coming loose without even pressures, but I never had issues with Stainless Steel Hose Clamps but crimp clamps would be an alternative option if they are widely available. Would you please post a link for crimp clamps as I can't find them on bunnings website. cheers

All you do when you have cut the bit of hose off is apply some heat (not attached to gas bottle) and the rubber becomes soft and clamp pulls off easily with pliers. Heat does not bother the brass at all.

Ideally , keep the big bottle suspended upside down and above the small cylinder being filled so you get liquid gas rather than vapour. Cheers and good vid
@alexxgloverr4 жыл бұрын
I'm amazed no one has mentioned how dangerous this method is. A propane bottle should only be filled to 80% to allow for expansion. If you fill a bottle to the top on a cold day and leave it out in the sun it is probable that the safety valve will blow resulting in a gas escape. If you must fill like this please weigh the empty bottle first, add the lpg whilst weighing as it fills. There should be a nett weight stamped on the bottle. This is the weight of the contents when full. Add the two weights together for your target weight. To stay on the safe side I'd only fill to say 60/70% before stopping.
@ezy2Learn4 жыл бұрын
Your information is correct somehow, but there are two ways to refill propane bottle, by weight as you have mentioned or by decanting until the bottle starts to vent propane (which is the most common method in all gas refilling station) and there's no way to be able to fill a bottle 100%!
@neilp70244 жыл бұрын
The gas bottles also have a fill weight and the safest way to transfer from bottle to bottle is turn the host bottle upside down,once you know the correct amount of gas you need to put in the receiver bottle on some scales,start to transfer the gas and loosen the bleed valve on the receive bottle,you will see the vapour coming out of the bleed when its about 60/70 % full then you will see the lpg gas and yes only fill to 80 % altho in the uk we fill to 85/87 percent if we are filling storage tanks...oh and make sure you wear some goggles and artic gloves........ if you breath this shit in you could be bang in trouble...i deliver lpg for a living via a tanker its not to be messed around with.

The bleeder that you opened with red screwdriver, during the refilling process the bleeder remains open ? Or u just quickly open the bleeder in the beginning and then close it off during the refill process?
@johnlayzell47485 жыл бұрын
thanks for that and turning the feed bottle upside down is correct and leave the bleed valve open till receive bottle is full you should see white gas at the exhaust port, now close bleed valve and feed and receiver valves, done.

@condor56353 жыл бұрын
It’s really the liquid expanding not the gas... liquid propane expands 17 time that of water for same temp delta. The 80% covers that not really the gaseous component. Gaseous propane will vent out of overpressure valve as will liquid but you don’t want liquid venting because it will then expand 257 times per unit as it becomes gas.

WHAT WAS TE PURPOSE OF THE BREATHER, COULD IT NOT RELEASE ALL THE GAS THAT YOU HAD FILLED INTO THE SMALL BOTTLE?
@brettwhitla44254 жыл бұрын
Not that I agree with this guys methods but... The discharging bottle should have been inverted from the start so that LIQUID propane was discharged, not just gas... The receiving bottle stays upright and the bleeder screw (BREATHER) is opened and closed slightly during filling to release the gas pressure until you see liquid coming from the bleed port. That way you know the bottle is totally filled. The method he used would have been lucky if he got the bottle half full. REFILL gas bottles have a tube going to the bottom to draw straight from the liquid.
@ezy2Learn4 жыл бұрын
You are fully right! I usually don't invert the discharging bottle unless it's half full or less. I didn't face issues filling up 2kg bottles from 9kg in the past , but I agree with you.

@ezy2Learn5 жыл бұрын
This is far from an engineer DIY video. The idea of my channel is to get jobs done with minimum basic tools that most of us have at home, there's no point to post a DIY video with fancy tools that most of people don't have! Apology if I didn't provide more details about bleed valve! and BTW, there is no tool on the market that can take off the ferrule metal sleeve that's permanently swaged without damaging the barb. So, Hopefully you have learnt something new after watching my video. English is my fourth language and my video has delivered my idea very clearly. If you are online to discriminate people, you may choose not to engage with others! Thanks for your comments :)
