It was common in the 90's for your home PC to have a sound card in it to play sounds. It wasn't until later that they did away with it and just had the motherboard handle sounds. And if your drivers got corrupted, all the sound would be garbled and sound exactly like Android 14.

The whole thing about Gero wanting to kill Goku is because he was responsible for his son's death. Back in DragonBall when Goku was still a kid, he destroyed one of the Red Ribbon army's bases and his son was there and died in the explosion Goku caused. That's why when Gohan got blasted by 13, Gero said "Unexpected, but not all together unpleasant."

Yo Dazzmen that was an amazing minor detail you picked up about the earrings! This is another one of the non-canon films that was made in america by funimation, which were made through most of the 90s. During the 90s, that's when nu-metal came out and rock-rap was hitting a stride, there were a lot of kids dressing 'goth' or 'metal', lot of "Hot Topic" wear and whatnot. Hoop earrings were a big fad then. I know this because I was a teenager during that time and I have similar hoop earrings that I got then LOL. I never thought about it until you said something, back then it was just cool. Also VERY fun fact: The voice of the 2nd announcer who voiced the black&white scene, the guy under the alias of "DJ Sexcidillionaire", is none other than Chris Sabat, who voices Vegeta, Piccolo, and other characters in the REAL Dragonball Z and Dragonball Super shows from Funimation. He is their voice talent lead, if I'm not mistaken. For legal reasons he had to use an alias, but he has said many times he is a huge fan of DBZA. Pretty damn cool.

I've always wondered that about the earrings as well. But there is no discernible reason given.Toriyama did develop a thing for earrings in his character designs around that time and afterward, such as the Potara. So maybe he thought they looked cool. But there really isn't a reason behind it. It certainly doesn't have anything to do with the Red Ribbon Army.

But at this base was where dr. Gero's son was staying. Dr Gero's son died due to Goku destroying the red ribbon army with his kamehameha

Senzu Beans heal all wounds. All wounds, and injuries. Goku needed a *few.* 13 punched Goku so hard, it took several beans to heal HIS beans. Side note: for humans, Senzu Beans provide enough nutrition and calories for an adult human's needs for ten days. For Saiyans, it's just enough to last for three. Possibly less depending on if the dietary requirements being different between adult and child Saiyans.

From what I can tell, there are 2 reasons why Dr. Gero wants Goku dead. 1 is that Gero was from The Red Ribbon Army. An evil Army that Goku thwarted by beating most, if not all, the major Players back when he was a kid 2 is brought up later on in the series and I don't want to spoil it for you 2.

It's called "What if the movies were Canon?" or something to that effect. I can tell you if you're continuing with the actual order that the next film after this is Broly. Gero was a big part of the RR army. Like he's not just some random guy who decided to go to fictionally extreme lengths to fight their aggressor after the army was dismantled. He was one of the people *whose* army was dismantled. Or I'm sure he felt that way. Like he wasn't the number one guy but RR army used a lot of tech and even then they had android #8, so I'm sure he felt it was *his* plans and dreams and, well, belongings, that were destroyed by this, what was he at the time, 13 year old..? Maybe...? And as somebody here mentioned he also had a son. Who was killed. Not directly, Goku isn't a murderer like that. But I think we're to assume he was just killed in a blast as the bases blew up, if I remember correctly. Strictly speaking the show never went into that super deep, they kind of glossed over it, it was just to get more enemies and move on with the story XD. DBZA however, has the advantage of weaving post-show interview factoids from Toriyama into their canon (like when Trunks and Krillin were in the lab in the series, they had the off hand moment where Trunks read off facts about 17 and 18 from a blueprint thing, like how their real names before they were made into cyborgs were Lapis and Lazuli) So Gero was like some mob boss accessory piece, a world renowned scientist and engineer, a subordinate but given his usefulness and specific vocation was still allowed to be left largely to his own world as he was so far outside and above the others, blah blah blah you get the point Then he gets word that some of their ranks and getting literally beaten up (their ranks as in men with guns and tanks). Then he gets word it's by a literal child. Then that child blows up one of his most successful inventions, actual artificial life (android 8 was an actual android, not a cyborg). Then the kid shows up and punches heavy machinery and shoots light blasts out of his hands to blow holes in everything And now he's nothing Nothing but an evil genius scientist all alone with all his previous goals crushed in, what, maybe a week tops That is why he hates Goku It's kind of like what 17 and 18 said "Why?" "The question isn't why. It's why not" Except instead of "who's going to stop us" it's "what's left to do"

Just thought you should know, the abridged movies take place in a different timeline from the main abridged series. It's why you never hear mention of the events of the movies in the main series, but you hear about the main series in the movies. Also, it wasn't Black Friday. Chichi and the gang were shopping for presents for Korrin and Yajirobe's wedding, and the guy who plays Gero also plays Maxwell in Hellsing Abridged.

DBZA is so popular and influential that people who have watched it and never seen dbz and in some cases even with people who have seen it have come to believe that Goku is a terrible parent which wasn't their intention. Sure he isn't the best dad but he loves his family and it's not really his fault for all the terrible things that happen. Hell at this point if he ever stops training the world could be doomed. If he never left his home in dragon ball the world would be so very different.

I would say he’s not a bad guy, he’s a good friend, just that his parenting skills do very much suck. Parenting aside, a lot of his actions had some very serious consequences that could have been avoided. That could be why people also attribute this into his parenting. Like not killing Frieza outright the first time as an example. It wasn’t until much, much, much later he became a decent dad, but that was way past what would be considered the prime.

I wouldn't personally regret it, because I very much think as well that Goku is a trash father. And I don't mean by this that he is a bad person, because many bad parents don't even know they are bad parents. What I don't like is people telling me that Gohan likes his dad and Goku is a good guy so he can't be a bad parent, despite Gohan's liking of Goku has absolutely nothing to do with it. If your kid came out "alright" despite your actions, that's not a point for you, that's just sad.

For the movies you've missed at this point the order in which you watch them really doesn't matter. They've already done the cross over jokes in the main series as you've been watching, so personally I'd say just watch them as soon as you can so at least the jokes may be more fresh in your mind and you'll remember some of the jokes that cross between the series and the movies, as you see them out of order. But at this point if you want you can just keep watching the series (there are still two more movies coming up to watch in time though) and then go back and watch the movies you missed and the Kai episodes, after you finish the series, as like a little piece of candy once you finish the series and near the end of the DBZA "journey". Like "awww it's over... Lame.... Ooh wait-! We still have some things to watch". So it's up to you I'd say. Either just binge everything you missed before moving on so it's as fresh as possible, or save it all so it feels like a treat at the end ONE last thing and I swear I'm done with all this long winded "order of operations" business xp (Minor spoiler for the Princess) Before you start the Cell games, there's a mini series (super short, no worries, if you want you could do them all in one video, no joke) of like franchise cross over episodes like 2 mins each where they pit fighters from other verses against Cell. Just for fun. No cross over jokes, but it was a fun build up to the cell games as they were writing it. Def worth catching. You're coming up to it within the next ten episodes I think. I think...... It's right before the cell games. I'm sure I'll try to remember to warn you as it happens; or somebody else will beat me to it, those were pretty popular. But I'm just warning you early

DBZA shows greater depths into the backstory of Dr. Gero and his hatred of goku later on in the ark as well as some backstory on andriods 17 and 18. It is something that the dragon ball creators confirmed was true but never put in the show

On how this ties in - the movies (both original and Abridged) are NOT canon, since they're really inconsistant with the main story. TFS try to smooth out the problems and tie them back to the main plot as much as they can (hence the bits at the start and end linking them to the Android stuff), but they are considered alternate timelines at best. Basically, when asking how they fit, the answer is "don't worry about it" :P (interestingly, you can really see the difference in movie vs tv writing in the movies. In the TV show a single character wins by spending ages training and outmatching his opponent, but the movies basically always have the opponent be too powerful, requiring some kind of "team up/combine powers" thing that UTTERLY breaks the canon of the show, since you wonder why they didn't use these tricks before. Like the whole Spirit Sayin thing here - apparently Goku can now absorb the energy from a Spirit Bomb? Not saying it's bad per se, just a weird example of the format changing the writing style)

Something needs to be said about the movies, they're completely non canon to the story, the only one that doesn't cause alot of continuity errors is the dead zone movie, maybe the Revenge of Cooler. Despite even TFS' best efforts, there are major continuity errors in SA13 , such as goku being awake and well, instead of sick and fighting the heart virus , piccolo in this version being fused with nail and kami, he went straight to kami then straight to cell's location after fusing... To happen at all the movie would have to take place in an hour or two, cause there was not alot of unaccountable time that passes between 17 and 18 killing Gero and krillan and Trunks destroying the sub lab , and that is with ignoring goku being healthy. Just enjoy them as amusing what if scenarios, cause trying to tie them together with the main dbz canon is a unenviable nightmare.

the only thing that doesnt match up to syncing it to the Android saga is, Goku had the heart virus during this time frame I think.
