Basically he would've killed him off way back in DBZ during the Namek Saga, but Vegeta became a Fan favorite. He's probably just salty because Vegeta is overall more liked than even Goku and ironically has a far better Story and some serious Character development going on. Toriyama balances this out by cucking Vegeta in every fight possible and this is the reason Dragon Ball became boring to me even during DBZ back in the day. Literally every Saga was just "Wait for Goku to save the day." Except Cell Saga and Toriyama dropped the Ball after that one.

Vegeta is probably one of the best written characters in this show, or many others. He started out as an enslaved heir to a planet and race that his captor destroyed, then kept him as a trophy. He fought and trained with everything he has and strives day and night to be the best. He finally found a way to maybe break free with the dragonballs and finds Goku. And this random "low class" saiyan who seems to be almost moronic at times, trumps him at every single turn in every way. No matter how hard he tries, he can never beat him. Even after redeeming himself, starting a family, and bringing some form of love into himself, he still can't catch up. Yet despite that, he NEVER quits. Even in the series much later, even into super, this theme doesn't relent. I agree with everyone, Vegeta DESERVES to have his moment. Pride is more than just a word to Vegeta.

@Scorpio Bradley the point was the growth he made, also yes he was a dick. He was raised by space Hitler after his entire race got slaughtered... Is there anything else to expect? Was there a single frieza goon that survived being a good person? Vegeta was very much a product of his environment. His pride is from the short time he spent with his father in which he was informed that he HAD to be the best of his race due to his royal lineage. His brutality is just Saiyan nature, Goku has his brutal side as well, even downplayed as it is by basically brain damage(cannon btw). His disregard for life and his "dickness" is probably the influence of the freeza force.... Then despite all of that, he grows to genuinely love and care for beings that he once considered "inferior". Vegeta overcame conditioned racism, elitism, and almost every negative character fault you can find in a shounen, and turned into a hero. Vegeta was everything you said, but that's what makes him deserve a moment. The fact that it's past tense, he had a slow grueling climb from being a bottom tier racist scumbag, up to being a hero, and doing it all the while having to have his pride be shattered on a daily basis by his only equal power comparison source. Also to anyone who says he developed fast rewatch, just remember vegita was still a dick all the way up to the boo saga(you know selling his body away and slaughtering hundreds just to get his last fight with Goku to be a W). Took this man literally the entire series to finally grow into what he is now. Also vegita was "never treated bad"? He basically only lived so freeza could get some sick kick out of having someone serve him without knowing that he had murdered their entire race in cold blood. He was a trophy of his people's mass genocide. o.0

Ever since their first fight on Earth, Vegeta has always been Goku's second. Even during their second fight during the rebirth of Majin Buu, Goku was holding back and let down his guard. In reality, had he used his full power, he'd have mopped the floor with Veget. It's quite hard to nail down specifically when Goku *isn't* holding back. Even when he initially began fighting Kid Buu, he held back and the anime took it a step further, featuring him fighting as a SS2 before going 3--which didn't happen in the manga.

As I said in previous videos, none of the movies are canon , they do not line up with the time line of the story of the original show or the abridged version. Most anime movies rarely are considered canon to the main story of the anime and are meant to promote the show by appearing in theaters and TV, probably one of the few direct tie ins are dragonball super movies , the Resurrection of F (which got re-adapted into the anime) and Dragonball Super: Broly . Of the original DBZ movies, only the Deadzone , Revenge of cooler, and the original Broly movie could possibly happen, as they take place in parts of the story like time skips or in the case of broly , the seven days before the last battle of the Cell saga . Just enjoy them as fun what if stories, cause trying to make them fit with the story of dragonball is a brain scrambling excercise in futility.

Honestly, I do think Vegeta is downplayed quite a lot throughout the series. But he does have his moments as well. When he lands on namek he literally destroys dodoria and qui? qiwi? the purple dude. He loses to Zarbon, but immediately gets his revenge. He steals the dragon balls from Frieza, takes out Guldo, gets rekt by Recoome, but redeems himself by getting Jeice AND Ginyu (Ginyu being slightly damaged). In the Android Saga, his SSJ transformation followed by Android Fat Clown's beatdown is a signature scene. He gets beat up by Android 18, but redeems himself by training in the Hypertonic Lion Tamer for one year and coming out to beat up Semi-Perfect Cell. Followed immediately by a beat down by Mister Perfect Cell. I think Vegeta just suffers from a character trait where he gets too over confident and prideful. It's a signature trait of him, but it makes him suffer in painful ways. That and the fact that after he has his moments, he's mostly used to show how powerful the enemy is so that Goku or Gohan can shine more when they claim their victory.
