@Hendrxxhoops - Angel has a metal rod in one leg and has had a plate and screws in other foot due to 2 separate major injuries. It even affects her walking and running. She could dunk in High school before injuries. She is also right handed but shoots with left due to other issues like being double-jointed in right arm and rumored shoulder injury. Its almost a miracle that she even plays at all, lol, yet she is where she is. I do understand the movement critic but know that its injury related instead of general clumsiness. Perhaps an orthopedic integration into her training would be beneficial. I do agree with shot mechanics development.

I could empthasize if she had continued to strengthen her legs and improve her mobility after the injuries but it's fairly obvious the work hasn't been put in from leg tone and the awkward stiffness alone. She's one wrong step away from another one with the terrible conditioning. Every WNBA player should be on that Kneesovertoes and it's some how still not a thing.

Loved your commentary. So many people critique a player's form, but they don't call out the coaches for failing to focus on the right things in player development. I'm glad YOU are calling out the coaches. I'm also glad you took the time to point out that Angel's video is not necessarily representative of everything she's doing. Many people don't stop to think about the fact that there's a LOT a player might be working on that they simply don't post publicly. Some reactions to your comments about player development.... At the college level, coaches are constrained by the need to allow players time to focus on their academic obligations (classes/studying), but the offseason could be better utilized. Another issue at the college level is that the transfer portal probably causes college coaches to feel less motivated to invest in developing a player. If they think she might transfer at the end of the year anyway, why put that effort into her just to help her bring her improved skills to her new team? Look at Hailey Van Lith, going from Louisville to LSU to TCU, for example. So unless a high school or college player hires a private coach to work with her in the offseason, she's probably not going to receive a lot of focused development until she reaches the pros. And the problem with the WNBA pros is that in the past coaching staffs have been organically grown from within. Ie, player development is in the hands of people who were lackluster players themselves. You can't teach what you don't know. The 2025 WNBA season should be interesting, considering how many teams are bringing in coaches from outside the traditional WNBA.

My experience with serious sport was in school. Having never really been that good in junior school, when I went to senior (boys only) school, I had to play rugby. As it happens, I was very good at it. I played in the first XV at 12, at under XIV, at Junior Colts (two years) then at Colts level, and I could well have played at First XV if not for an injury. Everybody had to go to practice - part of the school's fitness programme - and I noticed something about those who did not do well. They had a particular body shape: there was no definition in their knees and ankles. Looking at them from a distance, the outline of their legs from top to bottom was a sort of straight line; no swelling of the thighs and calves and no indentation for the knee and the and the ankle. Their arms were similar, it makes me think of spaghetti. These people were less coordinated than the others, they couldn't run as well, they had more difficulty catching the ball and throwing it. Ever since I've associated that sort of body with a lack of athletic ability. Then along came Venus Williams. Compared to her sister, she has exactly that body shape. I realised that if someone who has that body shape works really hard, they can overcome the normal limitations of that body shape, because Venus was obviously an outstanding tennis player. And now - Angel Reese. She has a non-athlete body, but she's tall. She might have taken up volleyball, but she took up basketball. But she's always going to suffer, if my theory is correct, of being an athlete with a non-athlete body. That means she's always going to have to work harder than the other women - the natural athletes like Kelsey Plum or Sabrina Ionescu, who have the right body shape for the job. I really don't like the woman - she seems to be spiteful and mean-minded - but it would make for better competition in the W if she were able to overcome the limitations nature gave her and develop a better layup.

So, Angela Reese was easily the worse shooter in the league inside of 5', by more than 200 misses. 200 misses. It seemed pretty obvious that she was missing on purpose to get extra rebounds because you would see her start positioning herself to the other side of backboard before the ball was off her hand. I saw her get 4 shots on the same possession, that equals 3 rebounds on one possession. no matter what, the whole ROTY nonsense is over, and the league is going to actually body her this season, she will never beat her rebound record ever again, even with the extra games. that boat has sailed.

But there has never been an incentive for Reese to fix her form. Between the 2nd & 3rd chance shots, Reese is able to either make some of those shots & get foul shots off of them to at least reach 10 pts/game. And the rebounds on those 2nd & 3rd chance shots also ensure she will get at least 10 rebounds. Reese has always gotten a lot of attention for her ability to consistently get double doubles. And she is now working on a 3ptr instead of fixing her shooting form or learning how to dribble because 3 pters get you praise & attention. I thought Reese was playing very well in the early season when she was more focused on using her motor to do those little things defensively that made a difference in the game. But as she got more attention for her double doubles, she became so focused only on those rebounds & points that she became very selective about when she tried on defense. And as a result, I don't think she was nearly as good of a player in that second half of the season. I think it just comes down to whether players are willing to put in the long hours esp for reps which can be boring & monotonous. And most colleges don't care about developing a players skills for a successful pro career & are instead rightfully concerned with winning for their school. Mulkey is not known for her player development, but at the same time, it has been reported that Flau'jae gets up at 5 am every day to make sure she can get in all the extra reps & practices to constantly improve her game. So schools offer development coaches, facilities, etc, but ultimately the players has to want to fully take advantage of those resources.

I can tell by this comment you pay close attention as well. Interesting observation about the incentives and I will say to that point that sometimes this is one of the reasons players/trainers may skip over the little things because they calculate that it'll all add up in the end. I truly don't think she plays for the attention I just that she wants to be involved in almost everything lol. Her motor is, i think, her best trait if not one of them. I'll take a big with that type of drive any day, and you're never gonna hear me complain about a player who's already glass cleaner but I like I said before I just think the "incentives" if any were on the wrong thing and that's on the coaches imo. When she was hunting dbl dbls at the end of a game and the crowd was urging her on, as a coach I'm pulling her. Not cuz I don't want her to get her dbl dbl but I need to send a message to her and the fans that a dbl dbl isn't the goal, a win is. And I believe tht streak broke against my Libs (and ironically she would've had it if she didn't smoke a bunny). The only thing I'll disagree with is it being the players initiative to get better. Yes the players have all the resources around them at some of these schools but the same way how schools make workout plans/schedules for the players they should be making those same plans for their development. They're going to have these players for 3-4 years. None of them should be leaving school with the same bag as their freshman year. A close friend of mine played d1 ball and trust I've seen the fitness plans they follow in the off szn. I definitely believe some of these plans can be tweaked to better each individual players' skill set

@@Hendrxxhoops Incentives is probably a better word than attention. But it does seem that she goes away from the things that I think make her a great player & spends to much time & energy on things that she thinks are more exciting or flashier (For ex not getting back on defense so she is in position for a transition play or wanting to make 3pters) And I agree Reese's motor is what makes her great & her rebounding skills are exceptional. To me her performance in the All-Star game really showed off her best skills. But her need to keep taking 3rd & 4th shot attempts in the paint despite being so heavily guarded instead of just pushing some of those offensive rebounds back out for a reset frustrates me. It negates the benefit of getting all of those offensive rebounds. Her high number of rebounds just become an impressive stats versus actually benefitting the team. And I don't disagree that teams should have plans for their players development. But I think colleges often only care about ensuring the college team wins. They don't care if that development benefits the player's long-term/future career. So players have to take the initiative to ensure the development they are getting during college is not just quick fixes to achieve the college's immediate goals & that is will also benefit their game long term.

And ig that's my gripe with wcbb.. because to be focusing on mainly the schools success, is to willfully ignore the current state of wbbs. Because something else that's not being talked about a lot is the regression in skill level for the average wbb player in the last 20 years. There are players from 20 years ago that had deeper bags than some of the players today. Don't get me wrong, the main reason for that is because the highest level of wbb (professional), is not the most resource-laden. But it can also be attributed to the fact that a lot of programs no longer prioritize player dev. So in a way, a lot of these big name programs are doing a disservice to the game. If they really care about growing the game, their focus would change.

That's been my thought process. Because at this point, something, even if it's just 1 small thing, should have been fixed with her game. Occams razor tells me she doesn't have her heart in the game to be a real hooper.

But they all win rings and are considered great...they are not and its fraudulent..SC has two starting 5 this year...Thats 10 players that are 5 star recruits..they will all win rings because they are on a stacked team..Nothing to do with talent...they are just better than the other teams with no 5 star recruits

I stopped watching this at the 4:16 mark. The guy is just Wrong. Everybody, everybody, should be practicing catch and shoot threes. There isn't even an argument on the other side. You want to stay in the league, you practice catch and shoot threes. Angel needs to practice a lot of things. But, there is absolutely nothing wrong with her practicing catch and shoot threes. My one gripe would be that she is not practicing anything close to correct form. People can't aim from their ear. That's the worst shot I have ever seen and the coach isn't even correcting it. If she is guarded that shot will be blocked every damn time no matter what distance she is shooting it from. She needs help, but she needs much better help than she is getting.
@martintimberlake224320 күн бұрын
I took from him that Angel Reese is putting the cart before the Horse she can't even make a layup she can't make hardly any shot why is she trying to all of a sudden do threes she needs to work her way up to Five footers Before jumping up to 22 footers look I've never seen anybody shoot that bad in my life she needs to start from the basics but I totally understand what you say I mean after all they are professional athletes, allegedly, so yes you work on every part of your game to get better you continously work on your game improvements.

It’s a long nail issue. Unfortunately, Angle loves to have longer nails than she should as a professional basketball player. She is shooting off her palm because she has long nails on her fingers. You can’t shoot with your fingers if you have long nails, it’s that simple. She is most likely shooting with her palm as a way of adjusting.

She's still a young woman n it doesn't miss me that she's still maturing everyday. Shi when I was 22 I def wasn't my most mature so I def don't hold that against her. I want her to get comfortable with being quiet though, I can only assume when you have the attention you have, and the clout it feels good that you can speak up for yourself and your words hold significant weight. But I do want her to understand that not everything she has to reply to or be a part of it. And I think we'll know she's maturing when we see that

Women have limited explosion, that's why they miss a lot of layups and have clunky forms of motion. They aren't elevating to absorb any contact. They are very ground based. A little nudge, and they really are going to have a hard time. Just part of the game. They still play some good basketball, and have entertaining games, especially the top stars and top teams. Just don't expect them to play like men, they genetically can't do it.

@HendrxxHoops it don't matter how she shoot as long as it goes in. You showed the clip of Shaq laughing well when Shaq was at LSU he is the reason why they never won a natty. "Hack A Shaq" is what they called it ... LSU could be leading by double digits and to slow the game down they would foul Shaq because he was lousy at shooting free throws. The best thing is to do what makes you feel comfortable. As a musician I was taught to play triads with 1 -3-5 fingers I did it like this all my life during a performance. I teamed up with known jazz musician and I asked which inversion should I use, he said what ever made me feel comfortable so I used 1-2-3 fingers for a triad instead. If I needed to add more keys my 4th and 5 fingers were available. Despite all the years playing 1 way I didn't have to think about it doing it my way. I have seen athletes careers ruined but "correcting" what they been doing most of their lives. Randall Cunningham, Cam Newton, Mike Vick, but I've seen what happens when a coach who is trained to allow players do them. Jalen Hurts, Josh Allen, and Tua had Brian Daboll who knew how to use dual threat QB. Caleb Williams struggle because he does not have a coach to know how to use his skills. The Sean Payton and Russell Wilson experiment didn't work because Sean Payton does not know how to use a dual threat QB which is why Taysom Hill failed in his system. CC struggles early on because they were forcing her to do tings she was comfortable with. The Video of AR shooting 3s is to get her comfortable doing it. It not like she will jack up 20 3s and make only 9 like CC did ... the point is if they leave her out there she will not hesitate to take that shot.
