Looked more like the opposite. They always find a way to get goblins involved somehow, even when the dude finally accept to take a day-off or go to festivities with friends. Poor guy can't catch a break no matter what he does... xD

This anime (GS) was inspired by the board game 'Dungeons and Dragons,' hence the dice symbolism. Fyi, that character isn't an elf (ears are distinct determinations), and the character with the tear drooping down was a different person.

"He who don't let the gods roll his dice" is pretty much a D&D reference and another nickname for the Goblin slayer. It is really just an anime about slaying goblins, in the sense that even when the MC makes his best efforts to not to, *somehow* goblins gets involved in the plot. He's just this cursed by the cynical sense of humor of fate itself. Past the dark aspect, it's also an anime about overcoming trauma, which is made even harder since the MC is still in the line of work of hunting those small green demons while still suffering from PTSD related to his backstory that led to him taking on this job. But at least now, he's not alone in his fight anymore...

7:08 show has a lot of DnD(dungeon and dragons) motives, the party of goblin slayer, he is an analogy to hard core role player that focuses on some unusual thing, a bunch of talking about dice deciding what will happen and etc. Lyrics of the op 2 mention d20 as well and talk about not wanting to be someone's entertainment in a "game".

Yeah, the start of the story totally look like "new player's baptism" (intentional party wipe at the end of a one-shot to teach them re-rolls are not a big deal) with some guest veteran player joining to show off how strategic plays looks like. Then only one player stays and somehow join the veteran's usual group while the others did re-roll (similar design to the dead/retired ones, but class change, in some later newbie adventurers) and probably play with other groups, only meeting in large group events.

Heavily inspired by D&D, nobody has names, just referred by their classes Lizard Shaman, High elf ranger, priestess and Goblin Slayer. Wait, 5 years for a sequel was brutal. Fun fact you never see Goblin Slayer face always wear the helmet.

In short. This world is just DnD dark roleplay played by GODS of CHAOS and ORDER, who dont care how much mortals die. "they care only about adventure" so this is why you see dice rolled by gods when Goblin slayer (this knight dude) fight goblins.

The dices represent Destiny or Fate and Golblin Slayer theme is to refuse to let the dices(destiny/fate) choose his (futur). (Also, it's not an Isekai)
