Here in Germany you can buy for some bucks a frame for 2 little fans for cooling the heatsink. Some ham radio shops make from this little radio a hard working machine. I think you need no amp no more when this radio working on a good base antenna and you have your home on top on hills. This or washington, one of them i will buy and come back again on air. ⚡🇩🇪

I rarely run an amplifier. Normally I'm talking on the K-PO DX 5000 Plus radio. 50 watt SSB max. When conditions are proper it is very easy to work whoever I hear. My amplifier is essentially a 4 element Maco shooting star antenna at 66ft. The gain of the antenna is what brings in the best result on TX and RX side. We have a saying in America. Don't want to be an alligator station. All mouth and no 👂 73

If it performs like the original it should be a great rig. All the contacts I've made on 10 mtrs driving home from work it always gets great reports.

I make them cleaner on the output which generally will be better for the radio. The heat sink is larger than the original Quad 6.

@@chevyguy1128 I agree. The heatsink will definitely get hot. It seems the 447hpc2 has similar looking heatsink. Maybe it's the same as quad 6 non pro? I don't have one of those to compare.

Does this radio have CTCSS/DCS encode/Decode included? I have come to LOVE using tones to keep the radio quiet and run open squelch.

Yes they are, but not dimmable

@@ScottsRadios Thanks for your answer! It's a step forward with backlighting that other models in the past didn't have. Strange choice that they are not dimmable: it was enough to connect the LEDs of the buttons to the backlight of the LCD screen (I will probably do it myself). P..S: What a shame that I can't buy this radio from 'Scott Radios' because I live in Italy. I've been following you for a long time and your passion and preparation surpasses other RTX sellers. Well done!

What type of power meter are you measuring the power with? This is the most common mistake by most operators not having no real peak reading power meter.
