Hey thanks for this video. Please can you give us the audio files of the test in download ? Because they are not level matched. So it's not a fair comparison. I just record your audio in my DAW and check the difference, the Gen2 is 0,6db louder, so of course it seems "brighter". It's just louder. The only way to understand if the Gen2 is better is to do a real test, in ABX and perfectly level matched.

I don’t think everything is about being negative, sometimes it’s just as simple as seeing things the way they are. Two things can be true, you can be an advocate for a certain brand (paid to do so or not paid to do so) and yet still see the advertisement in the video. I think people are disappointed in the fact that you are a long time user of UA, yet, not acknowledge that the some of it’s updates aren’t worth paying for seems gimmicky. I am also a long time UA owner, however, the things I would have liked to have see updated which we as long time users expected weren’t updated. For instance dsp, a/d conversion although they updated the d/a conversion, it would have also been nice to add both in’s & out’s ops for the Twin X Duo/Quad. If you support them cool, you get paid by them cool, but it’s not a worthy upgrade.

Lets be honest, the only real upgrades here are the better build, tactile quality as well as the new converters. Not worth the upgrade if you ask me, although the sound difference did surprise me. However the Gen 2's coming to market bring down the secondary market for the Gen 1's which is really nice. Because especially with apogees new rack units and with the X4 Gen 2 still unable to bypass the preamps (Big missed opportunity) I still think you'd be crazy to buy an Apollo X model short of an X6 brand new without already being an established business or already being integrated into the UA hardware workflow. However with the Apollo solo not being touched in any meaningful way compared to similar interfaces in its price point It's practically a paperweight in comparison to the X line, Gen 1 or 2 since the twin is probably going to drop considerably in price and you can already find used twins for like $500 easy there is literally no reason you should have ever buy the solo now.

Yes monitor control will work with the new Twin X because it has extra outputs for a subwoofer
@etschАй бұрын
@@ReidStefanMusic This means that I can connect the monitors to Output 1 and 2 (Monitor Output) and the subwoofers to Line Out 3 and 4 and can then also control this using the large volume control on the Twin X. This was not possible with Gen1, as 3 and 4 were not adjustable, or is this only possible via the software? Thanks for the quick answer.
@ReidStefanMusicАй бұрын
@@etsch yes this will be possible due to the monitor control feature coming in a Console Update

Definitely a good audio interface no doubt. But the shark cpu on these things is old and outdated. Been around since the 90s they could’ve put better cpus in these and that was a bad move. Quality a/d d/a great auto gain preamps great. Does it beat my apogee symphony io mkii special edition. Probably not on conversion, but everything else it does. Makes it a good potential switch and try these out.
@ReidStefanMusicАй бұрын
This is a valid point if your computer is stuck in the year 2015 but any Mac computer m1 or newer has more than enough process to handle your entire mix. Let the audio interface power your headphone mix in the background and keep product prices the same instead of rising with inflation like everything elsw

does the new converters improve the unison pres?
@ReidStefanMusicАй бұрын
The signal passes through the new converters after the preamps
@risingphoenix1484Ай бұрын
The difference is so slight in conversion in the highs it really doesn't matter imo.

the 1st thing you said in the video is crazy 😂 the neumann mt48 is the best audio interface in the game, the apollo is great but objectively not the best.

Is the Digital Mirror option only available on x6? I've got a Twin X and I can't see this option in the Hardware Settings menu. (latest console version)

Yes all Apollo X should have digital mirror. Make sure you’re using an updated console version

My dream is an Apollo, I've always been a fan of plugins and UAD equipment, it's a shame that in my country an Apollo Twin X is the price of a car, impossible to buy, the only way is to watch the videos and dream...
