Greyhound woth Tom Hanks is an AMAZING movie. Especially with spatial audio. It’s a movie about battleships (yes just like the board game) and it’s intense and the audio is incredible!! It’s a must watch if you like action packed movies with amazing audio.

My question before I got the TV4k last year was that the thing was worthless and my SmartTV does the job (or even my Xbox). I decided to get it and see what it was all about and let me tell you, it is a no-brainer purchase for anyone. The experience is awesome in regards to responsiveness, animations, remote-to-ui feedback, speed and efficiency. It also looks and feels like an Apple product from the hardware to the OS UI. Not only do you get all apps that exist on smart tv's but they are faster and much nicer / work better. Not only that, if you go into the TV app, it shows all your recent watches (regardless of the app you watched / streamed on), and feels so nice and seamless compared to the app on a SmartTV. One might say there is "redundancy" but I think the experience is top notch.I love the TV4k. I really want to get the new one for my living room setup and move the previous gen 4k to my office entertainment center. Thanks for the review, Nikias!

The only app that has been inferior to my LG TV is Netflix. For some reason there's less support for 4K and Dolby Vision on my Apple TV in that specific app.

Got mine today!🙋🏾 Still learning it, but my picture quality could be better and sharper, especially on Netflix. The image quality has a jpeg artefact to it, not sure why?😒 Also I wish they could add an info button so I can check time on screen like I used to with the LG remote controller.

So can anyone answer this - If I already own a good LG OLED C1 tv 55'' - why do I need Apple TV if I already got 4K resolution through Netflix itself etc.. and if my TV is already 4K Dolby vision + Atmos compatible ? You’re buying the apple tv for the software upgradability. Your LG TV OS will probably lose software support sooner than an Apple TV.

Hey … I had same question. I found that native TV apps sometimes do not support 5.1 surround. Not all but some . So there I was with a 2.5k TV with great picture and with crappy 2.1 sound. The Apple TV gives you that upgraded 5.1 and overall made apps and movies load faster. After 2 years I noticed my expensive TV had 2-5 sec of loading times. When movies started they were blurry 1080 HD quality then after a min or two it would catch up and have full4k quality. The Apple TV wil give you that quick instant 4K picture. Hope this helps

It actually has HDMI 2.1 unlike the Gen 2 4K. Gen 2 4K has eARC but is still a hdmi 2.0. The new Gen 3 doesn’t switch to a black screen when switching resolutions.

please don‘t forget, a bit stream on a cable is made of 0 and 1. So, there is no finetuning inside a digital cable. Signal goes through or even not, if spectrum is good enough.

Wrong. A digital signal down a wire (those 0 and 1) is actually an ANALOGUE square wave fluctuating between different voltages.... So shielding, bandwidth and quality of the conductor is important for signal integrity.

One of the best appletv reviews I have ever seen. We upgraded from the 2021 appletv on four tvs to the 2022 version on each one. I have had appletv since they first came out and learned something new with the outer ring on the remote being a touch screen type function. Love it😊

That is always the big question! If a dedicated chip is better than a TV that has to do everything? (catching the wifi signal, all the processing, streaming, screen imaging, etc. With a dedicated box, the TV only has to worry about showing me the image.

2 problems with this thing: 1: Quite often it doesn’t respond to remote input for a few seconds. 2: In settings you can choose a default and temporary audio output. Why can I only choose TV Speakers as the default audio output? I can choose others for the temporary audio output, but they keep switching off. I.e. it goes back to the TV Speakers. Those options are indeed temporary. Am I being forced to buy a soundbar or a HomePod 👎

A cheap HDMI cable and an expensive HDMI cable will deliver the exact same picture. It's a digital signal so you'll get all or nothing, there's no change in quality.

Not true. A cheap HDMI lead will not be 4K Dolby Vision compatible. Why cheap out? You only buy this lead ONCE and it'll last a good 10+ years. Plus it's €30 - hardly expensive in all fairness. Cheap = poor quality components. A 60fps 4K Dolby Vision signal is highly demanding - use quality HDMI 2.1 leads!!!
