it’s okay to be smashed off your face, but be sensible. In my wild uni days a few years ago, when I went out, I just took an old phone that could just make calls with no personal information on it (to call a taxi), an ID that is not a passport, a student card and some cash. I told myself, if you’re being dumb enough to spend all the money on booze, you can just walk home, or get a ride with friends. (This was in one of the biggest cities in the UK, so everything was within walking distance if you lived in the suburbs. Imagine it would be a different story in America).

The lady at the end said never store username/password in your notes. That's not true because the Notes App has a separate passcode/faceid for a locked note.

you can actually use faceID/ Lock Screen passcode as well for a locked note. A prompt is shown when a user tries to lock a note for the very first time, asking what kind of password they wanna use.

The way this scam works is the see you enter in your passcode then steal your phone. If you keep your passwords in a locked note they will just put in your iPhone password.

@@Benvenjtos obviously if you’re in danger then give it up, don’t risk your safety over it. This Stolen Device Protection feature means that the thief can’t change certain settings even if they have your passcode. So you’ll give up your phone and your passcode, and when you’re able to, log in to iCloud online (or using another device) and report your phone as lost. You can track your phone on Find My and erase the data too.

Well the idea is that they cannot remove your iPhone from the Find My network or change Apple ID password unless they wait for an entire hour and forces you to authenticate using biometrics again. If they are able to do that, chances are you’re being held hostage, and there isn’t much a tech company can do at that point besides providing ways to call for help (which iPhone does)

This maybe the way Apple wants to protect your phone, but, I don't even use a 'lockdown' method for my phone. 🤷‍♀️ I find the whole process onerous, especially after setting a bio-metric method and having the system ask for a password to be entered every third use. Not worth it to me; of course, I am the one person in the world who doesn't use banking apps, so I feel fairly safe. 🤔

@@Rocksteady72aThis only applies to your iPhone. There’s nothing extra to remember and you don’t need any other devices. Rather than using device approval for 2FA, use a password manager that you can use across all your devices. Then you can use any of them to get your 2FA code.

@alanharper23 7 ай бұрын
@@SingleNSolo wait, I think you might have misunderstood the feature. It doesn’t outright block your phone when you’re “away from home”. You can still use your phone normally anywhere you like. All that changes when you’re away from home, is that certain settings require Face ID, and other more critical settings require a one-hour delay. But you can still use your phone as normal. Those critical settings are not things you would regularly need to change anyway. Only a thief would want to change them quickly.
