About this video: New Spring Inventory has arrived at the Home Depot Garden Center! The perennials are rolling in, some annuals, as well as new shrubs and evergreens. Some fun things I found included Lupine, Salvia, Armeria (sea thrift), Angelina Stone Crop Sedum, Proven Winners Winecraft Gold Smoke Bush, and Proven Winners Lemony Lace Elderberry. Even some fun unique varieties that I've never seen sold at the big box store garden center before such as Rhododendron 'Percy Wiseman', and Japanese Holly Dwarf Pagoda. Come along with me while we shop and I share some tips about perennials, trees, shrubs, and evergreens. Thanks for watching - Steph (Gardening in Massachusetts zone 6b) #homedepot #gardening #homedepotgardencenter #planting #shopping #spring

One thing I’ve learned about climbing Hydrangeas that the label didn’t cover is it takes 8-10 years for it to bloom, so it takes patience to be rewarded with the bloom, which looks a little like Queen Anne’s Lace

It IS a long time! We just moved from the house where I planted mine in order to have more land and the first thing the new owners did was tear it out (a former neighbor told me). Made me sad as it was beautiful but oh well. It wasn’t mine any longer

I did plant the English Daisy last year and it did come back this year here in my zone 7a, SE PA. Visited two of our local garden centers and came home with two different types of Brunnera, Pulmonaria, Hellebores, Ajuga, Hosta, and a couple other plants. Watching your videos has given me the names of plants I never knew existed. Also, planted my winning Peony and can see some growth popping through, thanks!!

Hi Steph. I see I’ll be needing to get to Home Depot as well 😁 I’ve seen the rug junipers planted as a solo plant in tall containers to hang down or over a stone wall, I love how wild they are. I do like how that sweet flag mimics the Hakonechloa grass, good point. I like the 2 Japanese hollies, and the little giant arbs would be perfect, 1 in each of my 2 urns that I’m looking to plant up. Thanks for sharing. So many pretty plants!

I remember the first year I started gardening, these perennial containers were $6.99. It looks like they’re going for $10.98 this year. I could’ve sworn they were $8.99 last year and usually go up about a dollar a year. Yikes. I need to get better at starting my seeds lol. Thanks Steph for doing these inventory reviews. I live less than 1 mile from HD so you know where my next stop is after I see one of these😂! I had spiderwort and it spread everywhere, all over the garden not sure if birds or what caused it to migrate in different areas of the garden. Finally got rid of it. I also had English ivy which was a very aggressive spreader, but deer took care of that not a leaf left. I guess deer aren't all bad.

HD is getting better about having native or adapted plants that are suited for your area BUT they still sell crazy offerings that will Not thrive in Texas summer heat. Do some research before you shop if you are a California or Northern transplant. Full Sun on the label may not Really do well in 105 July heat and nights that don’t get cooler than 85! Plant natives for color, hardiness and water conservation.

Little Lime is a great plant but will not turn pink or any shade of pink I the south. I am in zone 7b and it is just doesn’t cool down enough at night to allow it to turn that great pink color. It is very hardy but I have found they benefit from being pruned back pretty severely, and cutting off most of the smaller offshoots. This seems to make the plant produce smaller flowers that do not fall over in the rain. Did this last year and it seemed to work.
