Two comments. The Royal Deluxe Open Road comes in a beautiful sage color. I have one and it's my go-to hat. The sage color goes with pretty much any clothing. I also have a natural (white) Shantung Open Road 10X. The paper straw is hard, but it's a nice hat. I really like mine as a warm weather hat, and the white color reflects the hot, Southern sun. I have no problem with it. I put some steam on the brim and dropped it to look more like a Fedora, and it really changed the look of the hat. Are the new straw Open Roads made of a softer straw material? Thanks for posting your videos. I've learned a lot about hats from watching them!

Straw open roads re hard as a rock, most authentic westerns are,but they soften up after a while,

Cris Yorke Cris Yorke I have the tri city,I got it last fall.. it’s a great style for a lady too, especially in the silver belly..flat brimmed feast are hard to maintain though, they need to be very,very stiff to hold their weight, those are picky when they get wet, so if u live in an arid state,like NM or AZ,you’ll be cool..but those are a little tough to keep flat, the new Toyo Open Roads came in extremely nice, those are real high quality, nicely designed, hard to really see just how nice they are unless u see them in person, the natural color is striking, like a super fine, two tone basket the other two are real rich,antique looking finishes..tough as nails, like all of their western straws,, they’ll go fast, but the felt open roads still sell the fastest.. Those are hats we literally can’t keep in stock, as many as we can get, we move.. that’s a trend that started about 2 years ago and has been slowing increasing, hitting mainstream, young,regular dudes are coming in,like 5-10 a day, asking for it by name.. conservative guys,rockers, guys of every ethnic persuasion,old, young..everyone wants an open road now. Something a lot of folks don’t know...... Stetson felt westerns are HUGE in Tibet, like HUUUUGE. They all have them, they come in large groups, really friendly,nice..always the same, “ We want 10 or 20, can you give us a good price?” and they bring a couple of hundred dollars, maybe 300. Expecting to bring home a dozen hats for everyone, Or sell them..or whatever.. then they’re heartbroken when they realize the ones they want, Ranchers..or whatever..are $275 plus tax, The Tibetan people wear them with traditional Tibetan costumes, very beautiful,colorful native garb.. They only buy silver belly or light brown,and only Stetson, only certain models.. Westerns are also huge in Mexico, but they sell the, everywhere, cheaply... I don’t think they are available in Tibet, and Ironically, everyone there loves them.

@@crisyorke1328 actually i checked, the price is right, technically they are different qualities, the chocolate has a more expensive straw body, called the "Open Road N", the cognac is "Open Road S" ,the choc cost us more, no idea why.. but i checked w the owner too. Not a type-o

@@KTGHATS Yea, that's why I wondered why Chocolate Open Road in Straw is a little more expensive. It applies to other hats in chocolate too. Perhaps the unique color and the why they treated the straw to coat on? I believe it might be the unique color that makes it more expensive. ;-)

Hi, Kevin. On the palm models at 1:14 and at 1:59 you said can be safely worn in the rain, are those made in sizes that will fit a 63 cm head? On the JJ Hat Center website, the highest available sizes presented on those hats is on 61 cm. Thanks.

For the two rain-friendly PALM hats before you showed just before "The Gus" model, are those available with leather bands that don't have metal on them? If not, can those hats be worn to concerts or baseball games WITHOUT setting off the metal detectors? Thanks, Kevin.
@KTGHATS5 жыл бұрын
If there is any tiny bits of metal on the band , they can be taken off.. maybe a Stetson pin on the band or something like that , if it isn’t a pin, it can be pried off,
@KTGHATS5 жыл бұрын
The only metal are two tiny, painted eyelets on the brim (grommets)where u thread the chinstrap thru the brim, they can come off if u wanted..
