For the two whites I think it comes down to the pigment amount, from what I understood one is for mixing whereas the other is to be used as a white. I think it's Titanium White that is meant to be used alone; when it is mixed it gives more of a white cast/dilutes the pigments more as opposed to the other White.

Seems like this one has a pink, might be easier to mix skin colors with it. With the Himi set seemed like people had trouble getting skin tones, it was doable, but took some working at it. Himi seemed to have more reds and this only has one. This doesn't have as vibrant as a purple. Some other comment said this brand had more than one set of colors. Good review. I think I need to make more art before I get more art supplies though.

Good afternoon from Curaçao, thanks so much for the review. I have the larger white set you were talking about. The jellycups appear larger also (these are 30 ml), but I haven't been able to actually measure things up. It has 48 colours, very heavy (and very robust) case with a similar lid but with carrying handles, as well as 2 foam "lids" to keep things moist, and they are refillable (in sets of 4 different colours). I just happen to see that it's Adore, not HIMI, but it looks very similar. Have a nice evening.

Really funny, but a shared viewer just asked me if I had created the packaging artwork for this product! I had to humbly say no, but was grateful to be thought of in comparison. As for the company, itself, Arrtx, I always wonder why some companies spell things the way they do? Memory retention, maybe? Are they another company like Arteza that private labels art supplies? They are somewhat vague in their marketing, so I wonder where they're coming from, what kind of testing they do, and where they're products actually come from. On their About Us page, they say nothing useful and the language is broken: _"Arrtx is thrive to rank best-selling art material brand, dedicated to providing professional and affordable art supplies. Chic design and superb quality allow you to combine art and entertainment. Art is more than what it is. It’s a kind of lifestyle. With insightful thinking and professional art tools, all beauty lasts forever."_ Do you think they are a relevant player in the art supply market or are they just another import / private label art supply company presenting products targeted to a specific price-point market? Curious. Your review is so full of fantastic information, it's good to get a professional perspective before considering them. Thank you and hoping all is well! :)
@thefrugalcrafter4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark! Yes, the art on the package does look like your style! A viewer mentioned that and I thought she meant one of my paintings looked like yours and I was was like "what?" LOL! BTW I loved your video about artist block, I was listening to it while DIY a supply that didn't turn out but the video auto-played to the next before I could comment. I'm such a clod. I think the reason some companies use the weird spellings is because of trademark law and there not being many words or phrases left. The company Lyft wanted to use the name Lift but it was already being used. Arrtx, Arteza, Artsy etc all have names that are memorable (although might be confused with each other as they inhabit the same space) and make you think of art. Most of these companies are importing supplies directly from china hence the low price. The company Lightwish I think owns Arrtx and is also the exclusive distributor of Paul Rubens products in America Kind of like how SaviorFaire and Colart are distributors of most of the European brands of art supplies in America. There can be a bit of a language barrier in some of these companies listings which are written for SEO as well. My review focus on quality and usability as well as price and value only. The market has exploded in the last 5 years with inexpensive supplies from China and the quality has been surprisingly good. I think Windsor & Newton (and other companies) shot themselves in the foot when they starting having their Cotman and Galeria paints made in China. You can't blame Chinese paint makers getting the recipes on how to make better paint and then taking that info and making better paint. Now I can't say that's why quality improved but it makes sense. Also, I have done some freelance work for some of these up and coming companies and they treat me with far more respect than certain "big tried and true" companies and actually pay for the art they request where with many big art companies they expect the artists to work for free or "exposure" and it just burns me to see so many artists get taken advantage of this way. Anywho, that's a topic for another day:) I'm glad to see so many affordable options for people especially young artists. It democratizes the process and puts supplies in more people's hands. It's a good thing. It fills a need. Professional artists will use what they have always trusted and I'm sure many beginners will replace colors with professional brands as they use things up but there is no denying that there is a reckoning happening in the art supply world. Take care my friend!

Just in case anyone wondered like I did.... Lindsay has the set which is 18B ... in a yellow box... I got the mint box and mine was labelled 18c (which is a brighter pretty mint than the Himi box).....but there is also a pink (the one I actually originally had wanted to buy as it was labelled 18C and mint was 18D in the pics advertising my listing... but I’m not actually mad cos mint is purdy and I like it now cos my Meiliang tin i ordered was supposed to be mint and they sent me the pink one, haha....so I’m happy they’re different) ... oh... and there is also a different darker green box set too... So yeah, the numbers are not for different gouache colours, they are meant relate to the box colours but they seem to mix them around a lot ... researching online now, I have seen the yellow under 18A and B, and the green and pink and my mint under 18C as well so yes, I don’t think the numbers mean anything other than a way to tell the boxes apart when selling online but it’s obviously not consistent country to country... So anyways, in summary... the colours inside all 4 boxes ARE the same... the 18A/B/C/D is meant just to denote the box colour... but it’s not consistently used so is not a perfect way to tell them apart.... just make sure you order the correct colour box when you buy them if you really want a certain box :) P.S. the box with the gouache in was wayyyy heavier than I thought it was going to be... it feels sooo nice and substantial, I was totally impressed, definitely a good buy and so far, totally worth it! :) A great addition to all my watercolour sets that Lindsay T̶h̶e̶ ̶E̶n̶a̶b̶l̶e̶r̶C̶r̶a̶f̶t̶e̶r̶ ***cough*** did such a great job reviewing that I have been f̶o̶r̶c̶e̶d̶ delighted to buy and h̶o̶a̶r̶d̶ collect lately 😂

Pretty colors of paint, but the color of the container reminds me of Crayola lol. I recently got an app called Picture This to take pictures of a few weeds in my yard to see what they are and how to control them. It works VERY well. It does have a premium upgrade option and I don’t even know what the difference is, but if you’re just looking to identify a few flowers or plants, the free version is perfectly fine. I don’t even know how many you can save with either, but I’ve got 8 so far, and it gives quite a bit of great info. Might be fun to take on your walks in the woods with your dog.
