Frank Stippler has set a new lap record on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife with a preproduction model of the RS 3 product upgrade1. The Audi Sport racing and development driver clocked an impressive time of 7:33.123 minutes, beating the current fastest lap time in this class by more than five seconds. Further proof that the enhanced top model from the A3 series is once again the fastest compact car.
The record was made possible by the optimized cornering behavior, enabling the new RS 3 to deploy its agility even earlier and in a more controlled manner, as Frank Stippler explained: “That was the key to our success. The new RS 31 turns in more willingly at corner entry thanks to fine-tuning - including brake torque vectoring - which allows the vehicle to be positioned earlier and better for corner exit from the apex, at the latest. The result is a lower steering angle from apex to corner exit, which leads to less friction and earlier acceleration, allowing you to carry more momentum and speed onto each subsequent straight."
The basis for the vehicle’s exceptional driving dynamics is the interplay between the torque splitter with its fully variable torque distribution between the rear wheels, the electronic stabilization control, the wheel-selective torque control (brake torque vectoring), and the RS sports suspension’s optional adaptive dampers. The modular vehicle dynamics controller now connects the data from all components relevant to lateral dynamics with even greater sensitivity thanks to an enhanced algorithm.
Power is still provided by the legendary five-cylinder engine with 400 PS and 500 Nm torque1. In combination with the Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R semi-slick tires, the 19-inch ceramic brake system, the RS sports suspension with adaptive damper control, and the optimized chassis setup, the 2.5 TFSI now propels the RS 31 even more spirited around bends. All underscored by its distinctive deep-throated roar, thanks to its signature 1-2-4-5-3 firing sequence.
The upgraded production model of the RS 3 will be available to order from the end of August and will be at dealerships starting October.

No thanks. Standard seats I have in mine are most comfortable I have had in an RS Audi.

But this car is not designed for comfort to be honest so for me it is weird..btw I’m not talking that you should get it..I just wish to have an option to pay extra for buckets

@@bystrzakkWrong. It's a road car, not a track car, it is 100% designed to provide a level of comfort on the road. There's even a comfort setting for the suspension, which on UK roads I have permanently set. I own a RS3 8Y and it's used almost daily. The last thing I want is bucket seats, especially on longer journeys. The standard seats are very supportive and comfortable. If people want to pay a small fortune to have them and it's an option... that's up to them. If they were standard, I wouldn't buy the car.

7m33 with 400hp is 12 secs faster than Hyundai 5n with 650hp. Just saying :)

@@NoOnesIdeaYeah right, no one has unlocked the ECU and with 700bhp it would be a heap of junk. These are daily drivers that people use to get the shopping, do the school run - exactly what my RS3 8Y gets used for,

​@@AndrewTSq my friends has rs3 8y ..and that is a great car.. refering your comment.. this is why i have a 2023 ttrs..as a track toy.. and have an 5N for daily..but most my wife take the little ones to shool with that.. that is insanely fast...in straight line..much better tham the rs3.. in shorter but fast track...we will see..

Quality down, price will go up. I am guessing, based on a fully loaded facelift S3 being near £60k, this will be £70k. To think, my RS3 8Y sportback, fully optioned, including ceramics... was £59k when I ordered it. Audi, like a lot of retailers, are taking the piss with price increases.

Looks like no rear seats and none standard front seats so there will be a big weight saving and will be running track tyres so its not a real world customer Rs3 setting the time

400 HP? hahahahahahahahahaha He's 4 and he's starting to add zeros in money between the reprogramming and everything that comes with that. If at 1:15 - 1:20 it is almost as fast as a GT4 RS, it is faker than a 3 euro coin.

400bhp is plenty. I have an RS3 8Y, it doesn't need more power, in fact, with 400 it can overwhelm the tyres. Does 60 in under 4s and 180mph, well mine does with the RS pack. You don't any more than that in a midsize hatch.

@@xadioari-gj4qg How can you use that power on public roads using the car as a daily driver, well you can't. Almost no one tracks an RS3, mine is used to get the shopping, pick up the kids, etc. 400bhp is more than enough for a road car. I have a Porsche 718 GT4 for drives out and occasional track days. Pisses all over modified evo crap with big power outputs. More to going fast than just bhp and drivers with baseball caps on back to front. You feel me bro 🤣
