I know this pain. My girl ended up with wobblers showing up during her training at 4 yrs old. Gait was off. Every test done and then the diagnosis. So I took her home and made her last two months comfortable. Congrats on the new baby.

I’m so sorry 😞 it’s so crazy how many youngsters end up with it! Our vet had a 3 year old unstarted colt come in and get diagnosed with it about 6 months before Timber. Idk how you avoid purchasing a foal with it already 🥺 I guess just do our best to look for any red flags and then just hope and pray they never develop it! We feel for you, it hits different when they are so young! 💔 Thank you, this little girl sure is a sweetheart, we need her to stay healthy so we can have her for 20+ years!

As a former truck driver, I can say that the safest way to haul anything is to plan to avoid accidents. Plan every change for an escape route and/or a safe stop. Yes, that means thinking about what you’re doing for the entire trip. She is lovely and looks like she’ll be a willing participant. I thought of the name Dolly when I saw her. Idk why, but that’s what my subconscious says😂. Congratulations on the new family member 🎉

You are doing well. I've raised quarter horses for 38 years. Handling the mares and babies is my favorite thing. I love mare watch and seeing the babies born. By the time the babies are a couple weeks old they're halter trained and lead, they jump right in and out of the trailer and their feet can be handled. I've hauled them loose also and you're right, they will face to the rear and be just fine. That filly looks like she will be as sweet as Josie.

Sounds like you guys raised them right! The folks that raised this girl usually handle all the babies a ton, but her mom is very protective of her foals. She’s a great trail mare and super friendly until she foals, then no one is allowed by her baby! lol so this girl didn’t get handled much at all. Haha it really does! She’s going to make a great mountain horse for Jason! I am trying to talk him into letting me buy a sibling of hers this coming year when the mares foal. It will be the last foal crop… so far ALL the foals from this stud are super chill. She does! We definitely want to buy more next year! She gets free choice grass hay and some alfalfa 2x a day. That grass hay is so nice to have on hand when we want to add in some more roughage ☺️👍🏼

We have a 19 year old Quarter Horse mare that I still have to be slow and easy putting the halter on, she’s always been that way, have to walk a few steps away and then she gives up. She was handled kind of rough before we got her and she still has trust issues, although she really has made leaps and bounds. Still there are times that something sets her off and gets to her. But knowing a little of her past, it’s easy to be patient and just give her an extra moment to think. Just like you do with your older horse ☺️👍🏼

We have hauled a lot of horses and mules down through the years. We never head tied in a moving trailer, and never had a problem. They are able to keep their balance in a moving trailer if not head tied.

Congratulations! She looks so sweet. I vote for the name Bonnie. There is a Clyde in the herd and Bonnie sings "Total Eclipse of the heart," so there is the eclipse side of it. There was a Bonnie Mccarroll(I think is her name?) that competed in a lot of rodeos in oregon and Idaho in the early 1900's. I'm so happy for you with the new addition!

Our other neighbors have called in a noise complaint twice and the sheriff had to come out both times… still they bark! ALL THE TIME! It’s annoying but it’s really awful for filming!! 😬😬😬

I've named her, even if you don't chose it!! 😂 TIMBERLINE Most certainly western, where there's a line in elevation where trees no longer grow. But, for me, it honors Timber. Losing her was such a difficult process. Yet this little girl will grow up to be a redemption & blessing of the loss y'all endured. Call her what you like, I'll always follow her in my heart as TIMBERLINE!! ❤ 😊 Thank you for your video's & sharing life with a bunch of strangers. Thank you so much!! It’s always hard to loose one, but like you said… one that young hits different. We will forever miss our Timber girl and what we had hopes of her being, but she isn’t in pain anymore. And this little girl definitely is helping to heal our hearts ❤️‍🩹 We do have hats that we need to put up on the site. But our the company we had printing and shipping the shirts just really did a poor job. So we decided to pull the shirts down until we can find a reliable company that does better quality control. ☺️👍🏼 so short answer, hats will be up soon I hope and shirts will be a while still.
