I agree, but only for the first 10-15 wears. Afterwards they become pretty hard. I used to love mine until I wore them to Disneyland for two days and they were like walking on bricks. Just went to LEGOLAND and the fresh foam Cruz editions were so much more comfortable. The fresh foam from NB is superior to almost all technologies in regards to foam.

@@eizengagood for you. But I respectfully disagree. I wore them for half a mile and the materials on the toes started to rub my toes in the most uncomfortable way possible. Returned them. The cushion was good but nothing to brag about imo. I’d take NB Fresh Foam over anything, especially since Nike did away with joyride. That technology was the best.

Almost forgot. I do have 1906R Protection Pack with black midsole with cream upper. Absolute blast to have 'em. As for my mom, she would be Crocs. Because she loves practicality and easiness to wear. For my dad, simple loafers to office work

It’s refreshing to see a breakdown of shoes that are widely available at your local retail store. Thanks for giving us applicable info to the shoes we can obtain in person. Not everyone can afford collab or ‘hype’ shoes. Plus, it keeps companies honest on the statements they make regarding tech or “premium” materials in moderate to budget friendly shoes. You may be unhappy of this video’s performance but I know I’m happy you made it! I’m completely turned off by Nike & Adidas these days, I’m 100% a New Balance man now. NB can take its silhouettes and ACTUALLY make different versions that are worth buying. Materials, design are great, always with attention to quality.

Growing up in DC we were (early and mid 80's) 12 years old and older till this day wearing NB and never heard the dad, grandad thing until maybe 2020 and beyond. Basically when they became popular, also like stated before Im a washingtonian and know not what the rest of the us called them. Since '83-'84!!! Made in USA usually down half a size and the rest true to size.

I have the 1906R Licorice - I love wearing them and seeing them on my feet. Walked almost 15k steps daily on my trip to Fukuoka and my feet and legs stayed happy the whole time. I plan to get a 2nd pair soon!

I don't know about this as a series, but do enjoy the format. Not necessarily as focused on on-court performance, but just on construction and appeal. More importantly, I really liked whatever that back-forth was with person off-camera. I get the feeling this off-script banter happens a lot. Not sure if its just the personal vignette... easily my favorite part!

Love the New Balance line, I have a few pairs of 57/40's, 9060's, and I recently got a nice pair of 2002R's. They're actually a nice change of pace from my Jordans and Kobe's. As for the question of the day.....My mom was always in flip flops, and I can remember always wearing a pair of Adidas SL72's. Thanks for another great video!

This is an interesting question of the day. Honestly since both my parents were elementary school teachers….and my mom used to play the sport of Netball (in an organized team level), they would be either runners or cross trainers. Specifically Nikes or ASICS. I was introduced two brands as a kid growing up (oh and Lotto)…..my dad would mostly wear runners, but he also used to wear squash/ racquet ball shoes….like the nike killshot when he used to play it before messing up his back. My mom’s netball team would always rock Nike trainers as their team shoes (like the air max trainer and air max 2 trainer) and that gave me the opportunity to steal her shoes as a kid because we were both about the same size after I turned 8 yrs old….which was a men’s 8.🤣 Which was also the first time I actually got a chance to wear Nikes growing up….since all my shoes growing up were bargain bin sale items until I bought my own pair of AJ 6s at age 14….with my own savings.

Im 41 and when i was in HS in NY the NB 574 were super popular. They came in a wode variety of colors and were relatively inexpensive (like $70). Outside of those, i never looked at a pair of NBs cuz they were definitely old ppl ahoes to me. When i got older i was shocked to see that the performance running NBs sold for like $150 and up. I alway thought, who is paying that much for these? Lol Moved to Baltimore and realized thats all they wear

I have the ALD collab of 1906R from last year! Definitely get all types of compliments on them. Love the breathability on them. And also a pair of the Protection Pack of the same model as my everydays... Definitely a comfortable shoe and well worth the hype. I just wish there wasn't hype so i could get more of the colorways i want.

I use your sizing quite a lot for shoes I haven’t already delved in to and it is usually spot on for my feet but having already had a few pairs of these , I would say you have to go up half a size for these to fit comfortably. I would also say for me New Balance 2002 or 2002r are my new go to everyday shoe and overall New Balance are taking over my rotation very quickly

My dad wore many pairs of air maxes starting from the OG 1s and many pairs of Pegs. Surprisingly he hasn’t touched a pair of Monarchs or NBs, perhaps Ihave to give him a pair of the 990s now. Also I fully support the worthy of the hype series!

I have 4 pair of the 1906r in various colors from purple (licorice) to dark olive green and they are totally worth the hype. You also have to watch the model numbers if you want various materials and iterations (1906r, 1906D, 1906N, 1906U). I have my next pair lined up and it's the Whitner Group collaboration.

I love the shoe stories of parents and family members. My dad would be a pair of leather slip-on dress shoes, because he is either working or ready to work at a moment's notice. My mum would be a pair of Skechers, and probably a grade school size cos she got tiny feet. I tried to buy her some comfortable sneakers before, but none of them had her size.

I love the 1906R! Very cool and very comfortable. They’re also not all that expensive either. I’ve got the grey Refined Future pair and the 2024 Grey Days pair.

I think I have about x6 pairs of 1906, got cordura pair for out & about, all beat up, x3 Protection Pack, elevated materials/ pig suede and the new Action Bronson open style mesh. You can't go wrong with them, so comfy and fresh.

I know there’s not a lot of “hype” around this shoe anymore, but my high school years I had damn near every iteration of the Reebok classic. It may have been a southern thing in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. Would love to see a Reebok classic on the channel.

These are comfortable and can be a daily pair. I prefer the 2002r upper, the fit is less snug compared to the 1906r. Awesome review as always. 🔥

Great review, partly because I agree with it so much. ^_^ I'm obsessed with the 1906 and currently own nine pairs. One feature that I love is how the two vertical strokes of the "N" logo extend up to the vamp and become eyelets for the laces. I've wondered if that enhances the shoe's stability somehow.

I tried on a pair of these once, and while they were indeed comfortable, they just didn't have the flat stability that I was looking for. Funnily enough, I eventually bought and owned a pair of 2002Rs, despite having the same criticism for them, and eventually sold them on. I think the Asics NYCs are still the only retro runner-style shoe I've tried that actually gives me the feel I want, but I'm still waiting for a good colourway to come out 😂 As for the question, that at least is easy: stepdad would be dunks (he got a By You version made with his name on it), and my mum would be anything from ON. She tried on a pair of those once and has never looked back.

My father wears stylish leather boots, but my step dad, if he could find them, would casually wear a pair of 80s tennis Wilsons based on the New Balance tennis 300. Back in 84 the New Balance tennis 300 was what you had to have. My step dad needed a new pair of Wilsons but tried the New Balance 300 basically the same shoe. He didn't like the fit 🤔 so he gave them to me so I could hang out with the popular kids 😂

QOTD: My dad is a Sperry Top-Sider. My mom is probably also a Sperry Top-Sider, but we're at 21 years of missing her, so she could also be the freshest sneaker of 2003--Futura SB Dunk? if i had to assign my family members a shoe: -my mom would be a pair of brooks. i couldnt give you a specific model name or anything but she likes to rock whatever brands are trending amongst fellow nurses like her. her style of footwear is the most practical out of my family (although she loves collecting designer heels but idk anything bout that lol) -my dad would be the shox bb4’s. his sneaker collection is generally bball retro’s from the late 90s and early 2000s era, as i think he holds a lot of nostalgia for those kinds of sneakers. he doesnt currently own a pair of shox, but those to me resonate with his old soul (also its the shoes he rocked when my mom gave birth to me!) -my oldest brother would specifically be a pair of replica gt cut 1s in the university red cw. im being specific not bc hes a sneakerhead (far from it actually), but because his style is influenced by comic book heroes and anime/video game characters, as well as him being a total cheapskate when it comes to his purchases (hence the rep bit). also helps that those gt cuts are his ultimate grail sneaker -i cant pinpoint a sneaker for my 2nd oldest brother, its a toss up between the brown stussy huaraches or gray new balance 574s. his wardrobe is nothing but earth tones and minimalist styling. he doesnt follow fashion trends closely, but he has a good eye silhouettes and coordination. hes also one of the main influences that got me into sneakers, but he himself isnt one, just happens to cop cool releases from time to time

You know, I was actually wondering just today if WearTesters would do a video on the 1906R someday, with the release of the Action Bronson ones releasing today LOL. I had the 1906D Protection Pack in gray suede but my right pinky toe didn't quite mesh (pun intended) with the width, even having gone up a half size. Probably should've tried a thinner insole before selling them though 🥲 If my dad were a shoe, it'd be an all-black, steel-toe New Balance work shoes; and if my mom were a shoe (or a footwear), it'd be some heels you'd find at DSW or my flip flops because she kept stealing them back then.

QOTD: my dad mostly rocked dad shoes (lots of Brooks runners) but I associate him with Bred Jordan 1s - when I wore my first pair of 1s around him for the first time, he found an old picture of him and a handful of his college friends who had pairs of 1s off the clearance rack from the local mall. Also mentioned that their group punishment for losing a bet or whatever else was drinking a beer poured into the heel of whoever had the most busted pair. That makes me think of him as a busted '85 Bred - worn and maybe a bit worse for the wear but still my GOAT!

I like this series you guys are doing. I’m starting to branch off to NB sneakers because their materials and attention to detail is superb! Nike charges too much and their quality is shite!! I have recently bought the 990v4, 990v6, 993 & 991v2. I will give these 1906R a try. When I was growing up my dad wear a lot of work boots and Clark’s dress shoes. My mom would wear high heels as dress shoes and converse or Birkenstock sandals as casual wear. Cheers.
