As a barber standing up all day, I’ve come to the conclusion that these definitely hit the mark as for all day comfort. It has an elegant design, and super high USA made quality. For the price, you definitely know where your money is going towards. Great video!

To stop the tongue from moving you gotta lace the laces through the loop on the leather piece in the tongue where the model number is. I was having the same problem and I looked up the shoes on Google and I saw that. I did it and it corrected the problem for the most part 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Great review, I totally agree with what you said about these shoes, I can't stop wearing 'em! instead of recommending buying half a size down, NB sells the shoes in varying widths either more narrow or more wide. The standard model starts at medium width D.

You have to use the tongue lock, to keep it from sliding. Just loop your laces under the made in usa tag.

I had the same issue with the tongue and then realised that the fifth lace up on either side needs to slip through the the space between the word 990 and the flag on the tongue and criss cross before joining hole six and the last holes. Making a runners knot - which I did - too if the tongue still migrates. On other running shoes that loop just sticks up all on its own and it’s smaller then on this shoe; so l didn’t understand it was still on this shoe. It’s just done in a classier way, like with whole shoe general. Hope that works!

I bought my first pair of NB 2 years ago . 880v8 and they changed the game for me . I’m A big heavy dude and my feet would always be tired and hurting at The end of the day . I used to love wearing Jordan’s , for the style . But my feet would hurt so bad at the end of the day . Until my friend . Who’s a runner told me about nb . I laughed and said , aren’t those grandpa shoes ? But went to. Nb the fitted me and even put me on treadmill , to see how my feet plant when I walk , cuz of my weight , I’m a big guy . NB 880v8 became my new love after that day. The reason I’m here writing now . Is because today I finally get a new pair , my gf is treating me to this shoe . And I can’t wait to try them on .

My first pair was yes back when i was in college in 1983 the original 990 . Since then have had over twenty pair of New Balance . The 990, 991, 992, 993, 2001 . My reason for NewBalance just plain comfortable and quality and the looks are classic style. Yes you can wear it with any thing.

I got these at an outlet for $130 (wide). They usually go for $150 now online up to $185. These are way more comfortable and softer than the 990v6. These are my new favorite everyday shoes. And they look so amazing in this colorway!!

I know this was from 3 years ago. You mentioned the issue with the tongue. You're supposed to pass the lace that's on top of the tongue so it doesn't move. It keeps it in place.

I have been wearing these shoes for over 10 years V4 and so on. I personally think they are butt ugly but I LOVE this shoe because I can get in 4E wide and so damn comfortable. Other shoes always end up causing me foot pain.

Got my pair today from Canada. Love it. I got small, but wide feet, and even though they fit great, I could have gone down half a size from 9 1/2, to a 9. But it’s fine. No complaints. My tongue aren’t as “crooked”, or uneven/tilted to one side, as yours, but I have similar issues. Especially if I’m not wearing them and push it down. It’s probably due to the manufacturing of the shoe it self, an dhow they mold the tongue when attaching it to the shoe.

I tried these at the store, women's size 7, I got narrow feet and they do come also in a narrow version - so not necessary half size down at every scenario.. I also support going to the store and trying both.

I own a couple of pairs of these. I like them a lot. A few years ago I got discouraged with New Balance as I was buying the 928's and based on the money I was paying and how long they held up I was not happy. The quality was lacking. I have since realized that the 990's are getting very good reviews so I decided to come back and give New Balance another try. Its also an upgrade to add the the Metatarsal Support insoles to these shoes. The ortholite ones that come standard with them are actually comfortable too. NIce review!!!

I have the exact same color way but I live in the USA so I paid $180. Even though you pay a premium price for these I find they are worth every penny!! They are a "dad's best kept secret" for good reason! I've owned UltraBoosts and Max airs and many others and the V5 990 is the most comfortable for all day wear and most versatile as far as matching with everything!!

Yes I have a pair. I was looking into shoe stores that measure people for width and size and thought I wanted sandals but left with a pair of 990 v5. New balance is one of the few designers that still offer workout shoes in narrow width. Shoelaces on medium width sneakers always randomly come loose for me but the 990s stay laced until I take them off. Tongue sliding could be a width issue as well. I had tongue sliding issues with 9b. Not a problem with 9aa 990v5

I’d go with your 992 size. I have 990v4 in 11 and 990v5 in 11.5. The difference is negligible. Really comes down to what socks I am wearing. But if you know your 992 size I’d probably stick with that.

Prob a 10.5. If you’re wide footed stick to true size. You can also go down a half size and be fine they fit like a half size bigger so you’ll have some room in the toes.
