I bought this shoe based almost entirely on it looking cool and not expecting it to be an especially proficient trail running shoe but have really been surprised and ended putting a load of pleasant miles into it (350km thus far). Despite some initial qualms with the tongue and lacing it has ended up being a really capable long trail run shoe: comfort is excellent, toebox is roomy, stability is good, grip is outstanding. Slightly on the heavy side, so I tend not to use it for shorter/sharper trail efforts, but it is very good when going long and can easily handle ultra distances in comfort IMHO. It may not be the best shoe at any particular discipline, but considering how often it's available at a bargain price on sale it's great value for money and can handle a lot of long trail miles in comfort.

Yes nice grip on outsole is amazing decent quality midsole, upper is ok and looks decent enough. I also got on sale and say value is great!

@@comodice905 nah bro - I have just enjoyed it a lot more than I expected - I have 270km on them now and still pretty happy with them. I'm not saying it's the most amazing shoe ever, and it has some quirks - but I think it can be good value if you get it on sale and can get a lot of long trail miles in comfort and safety.

I bought the hierro v5 when I started running 2 years ago and it was fantastic. Great shoe for starting out as it can do lots of stuff.

I have NB Hiero 7 shoes and I would say it's good for long hiking of any terrain not for Trail or paved running. Anyway Great review professionally done.

Nice review, I have been a big NB fan for years. More all versions and the More trail have been good, 880 is also a solid shoe, I have had many versions of it. Just wondering how this fits compared to any of those shoes. My local shop doesn't carry the Hierro and lookiing for some insight as to how it fits. Thanks for your insight.

Interesting because I love the Fresh Foam X in the More v4, it feels really squishy and probably my favourite foam for easy runs. Strange it would be so firm in comparison in the Hierro?

Hi, I'm confused between buying this or 1080 v12. Tried both of them. Hierro has better traction but 1080s are good with upper material which is stretchy and more breathable, also the tongue is better. My purpose for buying is for cricket so most of the time i would use it on grounds and maybe few off road runs - so I'm tilting more towards buying hierro v7. Could you please suggest me which one should i pick? Thanks!

hi! would you say this is a good shoe for every day use? i overpronate and like to wear running shoes as they're the most comfortable for me and i walk around a lot in the city. my most comfortable shoes for reference are the hoka gaviota 4, hoka gaviota 5, and new balance 993 (all in wide). thank you!

I like the outsole design without exposing the midsole unlike many out there which exposes some midsole out to the ground. I don't think it is designed for running shoe but for trails....

I bought a size larger, I have a wide foot and pronation, the sides are a little tight, especially on the left, should I change another half size? Maybe they will expand over time, what do you say?

​@@zachtan83 I had a 15k trail race a few months back in December and I had to choose between the Pegasus trail for or these. I chose the Pegasus trail for and still think they are a far more comfortable shoe. However, the grip on these along with that fresh foam x is second to none when you have a serious trail race. Except for the more trail V2 that one is right there with these.

Same here! Almost developed blisters after the first 2 runs. I ended up wearing silicon toe protectors whenever I run in these shoes and it's been working fine so far (250k). Sometimes I wonder if I should have gotten half a size up. I actually tried both tts and half a size up, but felt the latter was a bit clunkier than the former...

Shoes comfortable but very poor quality for trail running shoes. After a few weeks of use, white fibers start to come out of the shoes, which must be trimmed regularly so that it doesn't look like the shoes have a beard. In addition, the Toe Protection layer starts to peel off, but unfortunately New Balance does not see this as a problem and does not accept complaints. I strongly advise against buying this model. 👎👎👎
