Love what NB are doing, I'd love to see a rebel with nylon plate that for me would be a saucony speed killer.

I must say you guys .... LOVE how, together, you bring that subtle complementarity of perspectives that is crucial to help us assess and judge for ourselves if the shoes are for us. Ever think of brining in a triathlete to complement even further your range of opinions? ;-) Keep up the great work.

Thanks for the excellent review. You guys are the best on the web. Sounds like this shoe might be good for easy running recovery days. I currently use my old NB TC’s for that. Thanks. Will

I just want a rebel with a plate! Sc pacer seems too firm and sc trainer seems too heavy. Love the rebel v2 but thought the rc elite v2 felt unstable in the heel with too much foam.

I (Nick) don't understand why more brands don't use nylon plates for training shoes.

@@TheRunTesters exactly, it will stabilise the midsole, give forward propulsion and not be harsh on the tendons and calf muscles. This is the plus point of the Speed 3.

I agree! Would be amazing to have a nylon plate in there! I really wanted to pick up the new speed 3 but I found the shoe too narrow for me around the mid foot. Maybe I was feeling the winged plate or the “arch support” but I decided it might cause issues for me. If the rebel had a plate it in, that would be wicked.

Great review. Especially your comments on long runs have been very valuable. Still, can you compare this shoe with Adidas Prime X and Nike Tempo Next%? All 3 are training shoes and higher than 40mm stack height so it would be an interesting comparison.
@cristianfcao2 жыл бұрын
I really like the IDEA of a shoe like this: a plated TRAINER with a high performance midsole, a relatively light weight but with some extra cushioning and durability, making it a good option for long runs, daily training, and maybe racing or tempo day for people who really NEED the extra cushioning (1st time marathoners, heavy runners, people with knee issues, and so on)... However, I'm not sure if any company succeeded in making such shoe. Apparently not NB, definitely not Nike with the Zoom Fly 5, not quite Saucony with the Speed or the Shift, not Hoka with the Bondi X... Maybe Adidas with the Prime X?
@duanesidney97612 жыл бұрын
Prime X is what you're looking for here. Definitely.

I only trust shoe reviewers like yourselves, who often criticize the shoes they are reviewing and give me better alternatives for the intended purpose of the shoe in question. Otherwise, I feel like I'm watching some form of advertising. Keep it up guys!

Nick - Do you prefer this or the ZoomX Invincible for longer steady or recovery runs? I have both, I'm not sure which I prefer. I did find that near the end of a long run I did find it felt its weight, more so than the Invincibles do. However, for mid to long-ish runs I feel these may be marginally better. But I don't think it's worth so much more than the Invincibles.
@TheRunTesters2 жыл бұрын
So far the Invincible feels a bit better to me, just as it’s a bit more normal and I relax more when running in it on the easy stuff

Thanks for another awesome, insightful review... you guys are awesome.. I'm looking to add another shoe to my rotation as my 2 pairs are on their way out (On Cloud - slightly older shoe - I use for short/ recovery runs) & my current racer (Hoka Xcarbon 2).. what are your rotations?

Is it more or less stable than the RC elite v2 and Rebel v2? Is the soft, bouncy, propulsive feel similar to the RC and the Rebel v2 or more amplified?
@TheRunTesters2 жыл бұрын
It's more similar to the RC Elite 2 in how bouncy it is, probably a little more stable as it's so wide. The Rebel v2 is more grounded and stable for me (Nick) and less bouncy.

Interesting. I found the SC Trainer much more stable than the Rebel. The platform is much wider so I’m not having to work as much to keep my midfoot from pronating.

It really depends on the type of trails you're running on. Neither are well designed for trails though and the outsole on both isn't very protective for the midsole.

I was planning to buy the SC trainer for my 30k+ easy runs, but after viewing your review, I would take your advise . I shall now buy the Invincible 2 together with RC Elite2 instead . Now that version 3 are out for both shoes, the cost of Invincible2 + RC2 ends up around 220 which is around the same price for a pair of SC trainer. Thanks for the tip
