YOLO is always a favourite of mine and makes me tear up every time too ❤

It still baffles me that after not having any of her songs accepted, Kanami came up with 12 brilliant songs over such a short period starting with Alone on Brand New Maid, Yolo, Unfair Game and Matchless Gum as a single and then 8 additional songs on Just Bring It which included Puzzle, Moratorium, Awkward and Secret My Lips. The floodgates just seemed to open up.

The variety is what takes my breath away. And it makes me wonder if those rejected songs were all that bad!

Kanami wrote YOLO long before joining B-M. One of her oldest compositions. There is a clip of her playing the chorus on piano floating around on YT

Very much like YOLO..been pushing to be a top 5 (if that is even possible)..And technically could be called the MAID's oldest song!..As the basis of this tune was written by Kanami BEFORE she joined the band..so. Long May They Reign!👑

I think you've got pretty good odds for UK/EU appearances later this year. The only bad thing about seeing BAND-MAID live is their catalog is now so deep that they will not play at least a few of your personal favorites. I was lucky enough to attend the show in Yokohoma, which had a setlist of 33 songs (32 if you don't count two versions of Choose Me). 33 amazing songs and it *still* did not include YOLO, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, or Blooming. Just insane how many great songs they have!

I have not long returned (UK) from Japan after seeing the ladies LIVE at Yokohama Arena!..It was magical!...Even better than seeing them in Jan last year at TGT..I know I'm not the only one from the UK who also journeyed to Japan to see the ladies LIVE..We just couldn't wait for them to get here!..hehe!...Long May They Reign!👑

The Maids are like five fingers in a hand that when they start playing those fingers become a fist.

Yeah, the lovely Kanami can be a little crazy sometimes. 🤭 It's amazing how these little fingers can handle it for an entire evening. And the same goes for Misa, who doesn't give her bass a break either. 🔥🤘🏻 _____________________ _"America invented rock. England improved it. The rock version of YOLO is awesome! There is also an acoustic piano solo version by Kanami on KZbin. It should not be blocked. It was a song she penned early in her songwriting career. It's beautiful and shows what a masterful pianist Kanami is.

My absolute favorite Band Maid song, Kanami's solo is epic, Misa's awesome bass line, Akane's effortless drumming and of course spot on vocals from Saiki and Miko
@Greg-om2hb10 ай бұрын
For me, SAIKI’s vocals are the best part of YOLO. But they also released an instrumental version, same tracks minus the vocals, in which we can better hear how MINCHO, and especially MISA, are going crazy from beginning to end. Check that one out.

If you ever have the chance listen to the version of YOLO from the Ladies Okyuji at Studio Coast Shinkiba in 2017. Trust me, you will enjoy it even more. Especially how Miku gets spicy in the left channel.

The two live versions of YOLO included in their gigs at Akasaka Blitz and Studio Coast are great... but the first one is my favorite, because it is the epic closing theme of the show... simply beautiful... recommended.👍 By The way, great reaction.😉

there are two other versions, an instrumental and Yolosiosu from the Band Maiko CD. One thing you'll notice listening to all three versions is how much Saiki's voice is a instrument as well.

When I watch this MV it makes me think back to the 'Alone' promo when they were playing along to the track in quite a cramped studio location. Fast forward to the 'YOLO' MV and that could be the same studio, only now it's been exploded outwards by Band Maid being given free reign to record their own songs. Or am I thinking too deeply here.....??

Have a watch of this Young Guitar interview with Miku and Kanami, likely not reaction worthy so you can watch it for enlightenment, but it will give you a bit of an insight into the process of song creation, and the relationship between them. There's a reason that Kanami had a little cry at Yokohama Arena when Miku busted out the huge guitar intro, she's so proud of her guitar student Miku. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aX_dpZeFoNSMpdE

@chrisbergsten142910 ай бұрын
Band-Maid pretty much doesn't make a bad song... some of their older ones are kinda mid but they're never BAD. I think it's because they're all really musical... I mean Kanami's pretty much the only one writing full songs, but MISA and Akane are perfectly capable of writing their parts, Miku did some pretty heavy rearranging for acoustic Sayonakidori, Saiki's kind of the final filter and decides whether a song passes or goes back to rewrites or whatever (and also makes all the show setlists). So there's a minimum level of quality that they're always going to hit by the time something goes out to the public. Even when they were relying on outside songwriters, they had creative input into the songs and song choices and would have arranged and played those songs the way they wanted to.
@surfingasongwave10 ай бұрын
Reactors always say "Tell me what your favorite Band-Maid song is. Put it in the comments!" How do you answer a question like that?
@ALAN_COX10 ай бұрын
I need to correct something that most reactors and Band-Maid fans get wrong about any studio version of a Band-Maid song. Up to this point, Miku does not play guitar on any studio version song. Kanami has stated during interviews that she plays all of the guitar parts on the studio albums, including the parts that Miku plays during live concerts. I am not disrespecting Miku. Her live guitar playing allows Kanami to play those intricate riffs throughout the songs that comprise the Band-Maid sound that we all expect to hear. However, keep in mind that Kanami is playing all of the guitar parts on any studio version song up to this point. I firmly believe that will change soon since Miku is so proficient on guitar now, all while producing some of the best backing vocals that anyone could ask for.

Great example of Kanami and Misa goin' off an doin their own thing while the others hold it down. Probably coulda wrote 3-4 songs outta the music that went into this one song, but not Kanami - nothing "plain Jane" about her. As you would guess, there is a looong way to go with with these guys and as everyone (including yourself) will say "The next one will be your favorite". There is also a looooot of songs that don't have clips - don't be afraid to check out some hidden gems without clips - if your not sure, just ask. We'll steer you in the right direction. Luvin ur work.
