It’s always exciting getting new items, to make things run smooth, while doing the work you enjoy. Awesome saw! I wish I had some saws and machinery, plus the knowledge to do some woodwork. I’ve always been intrigued by it. I’ll live vicariously through you and your videos. Looking forward to seeing your next project. Love 💕 & hugs 🤗 God bless

Looks like a great bandsaw Billy. I remember when we started seeing the steel frame band saws show up for home shops. I really did not want to get one. But we had two 20" Crescent brand bandsaws at work and they had been in use for many many years and never had any issues. I used them there for 37 years and they were old before I started at that shop. And the shop I came from had the same one and I used it for many years as well. And a bandsaw gets some heavy duty use and hours of use in a pattern shop. So it is a decent design. So bottom line is I ended up getting the steel framed Rikon and it is a decent saw. I am sure this video will inspire many to try one out. And you will love this beauty you bought. Take care, Gary

@@TheMessyStudio I was either going to buy the Jet or the Laguana but I came across the Rikon like new for $300 and that is with the enclosed bottom stand. You know me...cheape! I loved all those old machines we had at the pattern shops. The one I retired from was founded in 1933 and some of the equipment was still being used. Along the way we got a 36 inch bandsaw that i think would cut 20 inch depth. It was all cast iron though. I will say I enjoy retirement more than I miss all the old machines lol!

Ordered the exact same saw. Also ordered the Shop Fox base. It's not difficult to attach the base to the saw to the base while it's on it's side? It would be hard for me to life the saw straight up and then lower it onto the base.
@TheMessyStudio22 күн бұрын
Cool! Yes, it was difficult getting the saw up on to the base. I removed the base not long after, because it made the saw too wobbly for my liking.

i just bought this saw and got it set up and its really a good saw,,,when i bring the fence up to the blade to align it with the blade there is about 3or 4 thousands off at the bottom,,and the instructions tell you to raise or lower the 4 screws on the top of where you lock it down,to make any adjustments for the blade to the fence,,but needless to say this doesnt work,,,any help would be appreciated
@TheMessyStudio3 жыл бұрын
Mine has a small gap at the bottom too. I believe that gives excess sawdust a place to go so that it doesn't interfere with what you are cutting. I just make it level and leave it be. Seem to work fine. Billy
@jeffoldham34663 жыл бұрын
what kind of mobile base are you using,,i just bought this saw today
@TheMessyStudio3 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't remember, but I'll be taking it off. The saw is actually a little too big for it and I don't like how it rocks when I'm using it. It just isn't stable enough to suit me. If I need the mobility, I'd switch to this one: amzn.to/3lsdIx4 Billy

Koen, it's an older one that isn't available any longer. I believe it came from Rockler. This one looks nearly identical and has metal levers... so much better than the plastic ones! amzn.to/3uzy8cb Billy

Glad to see you back in the shop! Keep getting better and get back to making saw dust. I purchased the PM2014 lathe last fall after watching your videos. Upgrade from the rikon midi. Do you still feel the 2014 meets your expectations? Thanks Billy

@@TheMessyStudio mine came with a handful of qc issues but there are also numerous design flaws which were completely overlooked, for example the bearing adjustment knobs are the same size as the bearings which limits how far forward you can set the blade as bigger blades will chew into the adjustment knobs.
@garycousin1290 Жыл бұрын
I’m tired of you guys FAILING to show difficult points. How in the tar nation did you attach the forward exhaust port.
@TheMessyStudio Жыл бұрын
Sorry, Gary, but I didn't find anything difficult in the assembly. Honestly, it's been so long since I put it together, I don't remember. But I think it just slid into place. The trickiest part for me was the zero clearance board that deflects the cuttings from the table to the dust port. I had to turn the saw on and slip it in cutting the kerf as I went.
