If it does what you need - great deal! I've been a pro player for 40 years and have gone through many, many basses of all shapes, sizes and string configurations. My workhorse bass for the last 15 years (about 800 gigs played on it) was an Yamaha Attitude. I've been having trouble with my left hand and arm and needed to move on to something else easier on the limb. I picked up a Squier Classic Vibe Jazz Bass and equipped it with a Hipshot - all my 4-strings have them. Feels great so far. I am about to put in a master volume and blend control system. A nice hotrod bass for under a grand methinks! Have fun with your new foundation provider, John. I watch your videos daily here in Western Canada and look forward to having a Friday off to participate in the 5:00 Beer chat!

The new bass reminds me of my first Ibanez GSR bass with the open grain and dark wood. A good bass from new, so hope you like yours after 5 years.

I’ve had mine for 16 months in the dark Cherry Red. I absolutely love mine. Bought it because I am a beginner, and it has served me well. I like your channel!

Agree with you on best mellow sound, in my humble opinion. Nice to hear you are much better than Friday. Take care.

Wow, that's a beauty! I have a MIM P-bass with a single pup, and an HB fretless (which weighs as much as my car I think!). Just for recording, I am a guitar play, not a bassist. I really like the options you get with that pickup configuration. Might have to pick one up!

I've had this exact bass for about 2 years and it's awesome. Open pore walnut finish, some flame on the neck, full-sized Alpha Made-In-Korea pots, 24 useable frets, sounds great. I paid £139 for mine from Guitar Guitar ex-demo, so I knew it would be set up properly. Matched with an Ampeg Rocket 30w combo amp.

Hello! This is a great bass...for very little money! I bought mine around 2006, which was still a little different: The bridge was Hi-Mass (not Fender)...Headstock matching black. All in all very cleanly adjusted...and also frets et cetera just about perfect. So it is to this day...although...a DiMarzio P Split sits inside now and a MusicMan on the bridge. Was easy to carve! Also comfortable: the fingerboard radius...15.75" - 400mm. Cort is recommendable in every price range. Never crap. Love the bass. And Your channel. Calm and stress free. I am 65...need that.👍

makes me happy to hear this, as i will buy a used model from around that time in a few days with a black headstock. i was wondering if i would have to upgrade the bridge down the line.

@@brainrottedindividual I hope Your bridge (and the rest) will be same as mine! I do not know if there were variations at that time, but I think not. Please give a report, when You have got Yours!🙂

John...try it on the bridge pup with the tone rolled nearly all the way off. You might also want to put a bit more relief in that neck.

John, The neck width looks good for a guitar player so guessing you will be OK with it. I would end up pulling and pushing the strings off that neck. Looks nice 👍

Starting playing a bit of bass myself recently. I find it a nice break from struggling with lead guitar. Think it may be more to my liking. I play with a plectrum too, not of fan of finger bass if I’m honest.

Is it me, or does this new bass look like the old bass over your right shoulder? If so, you can’t argue with success. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it and any other cliches you care to use. I dig the tone on the bridge and bridge/neck combo. Just want a smaller scale to replace an old Squier. Any suggestions besides Cort? TIA

Hey John, rather suprised at this choice of bass, it looks very pointy and top heavy. I would have loved a Squier J or P but it's your channel, enjoy my friend.
@zuperdee
@zuperdee Жыл бұрын
Most bass guitars do tend to be slightly neck heavy, in my experience. I have a Mexican-made Squier P-bass from the early 2000’s, and it’s slightly neck heavy, too. I don’t notice it when standing up, but I do when sitting down.

Do you ever play with fingers rather than a plectrum, John?
@JRobsonGuitar
@JRobsonGuitar Жыл бұрын
For rockier stuff I tend to use a pick, but for more mellow things it's fingers all the way.
