Hi Joe! Great to see another nice Beatles update. I enjoyed seeing the Sealed Rarities First Pressing with the mistakes and sticker as well as the sealed Shaved Fish. The Canadian AHDN looks nice with the Red label. The Russian White Album looks interesting. I've seen it cheap but never purchased it. I enjoyed seeing everything Joe. Take care

Good job at finding a russian copy of White Album. It originally didn't have photos included, but some copies did include a weird poster with lyrics in russian. Because the poster was made out of cardboard and was bigger than LP, many people removed it from the sleeve and now it's a rare item. I recently bought most of the russian Beatles catalog in unplayed condition (I live in Russia, so I got it for nothing, really). The most amusing thing (apart from many others) is that they somehow managed to recreate the original LP ending to Sergeant Pepper, with weird noise playing over and over. All russian bootleg LPs were pressed on old soviet equipment, and they used CDs as a source, so it was very amusing to hear the original ending. If you are interested, I can tell you more about russian bootlegs.

Also, they redraw the photos to avoid copyright problems. They weren't afraid to copy the music, but thought it was a good idea to redraw photos, go figure.

I will add that the poster was given out at the checkout when buying a record. It was only on the first press, if I may say so !!! Later, the poster was no longer added in stores. It was made of thick cardboard, and it was impossible not to spoil it and not put in an envelope with a LP. My copy hung on the wall in the room for a long time until it fell into disrepair ...

nah, it's all hype. I did with the 1983 Black Rainbow label (coz I thought it looked nicer) the sound is a little light. The best versions are the Japanese vinyl as they use a heavier vinyl and deep cut grooves. The only difference is "Let It Be" (1983 black rainbow version), listen to the end of "Two of Us" as it doesn't fade as it ends. I double check my turntable as the time is 3:32.75 as the US first CD release is based on this version.

I own the purple labels and to me they sound a lot better than the CD releases. From what I've heard, the pre-1987 releases were mastered pretty well.

On John's musical first album, Plastic Ono Band. I have an American Apple, Capitol Purple Label & Black Rainbow. I also have one from the Silver box set on Toshiba records from Japan. Give me the Toshiba & the American Apple. I'm into sound as I like to compile the Beatles recordings in the order of when they recorded it. Not only the Beatles, but their solo, interviews and who they guested on. I don't like CDR's, but prefer reel-to-reel & cassette. I try to find the best sounding and go through my equalizer before the tape deck. My Sony cassette deck does have pitch control which helps. Watch out for McCartney's Tug of War as the majority of the songs were not recorded on March 1, 1981.

Very nice finds Joe, especially the sealed Rarities. The Russian White album is really cool as well. And I didn't even know that The Tug Of War sampler ever even had shrink. Many promos didn't. And as far as the Shaved Fish, record labels often use what they've got. If it's fairly soon after a label change, they will still use older covers or labels or promo stickers until they run out. So my guess is that may be an Orange Capitol label in there, and that would be really cool. Great stuff Joe. Take care...

Great that you've got a Canadian pressing of AHDN. Being Canadian, I've been collecting all the Beatles Canadian issue LPs. There seems to be no end to them. Your red label copy was the most common for the Mono pressings. The Stereo pressing came out on a black label. What's interesting is that at some point they ran out of red labels so they used black for some Mono pressings as well. It didn't end there. When they ran out of black labels they used a blue label briefly. These blue label pressings are hard to find. FYI, there are over 340 documented variations for Canadian pressings of Beatles albums from 1963 to 1987.

Nice original Canadian HDN LP! Enjoy listening to those Liverpool Lads cuts! That must be about as enjoyable to listen to as The Liverpools "Beatlemania" LP on Wyncote records. Gotta love those rip off cash in Beatles novelty records from 64'!

That Hard Days Night label is beautiful. I've been tempted to get another copy of Rarities, but now I have everything that's on there, including the extra "I'm crying" beats from "Walrus". Still, it is a nice-looking record. Who knows - never say never

Interesting, I like the Russian White Album with the drawings. Is there no end to the wonders we can still find after all these years? By the way my sons and I will be in NYC from Aug 7-11 if you fancy meeting up and/or doing a video perhaps. Would be great if you are around and feel like coming into town (I am assuming you live in the surrounding area but do correct me if I'm wrong...you can message me either on You Tube or on FB). We will be staying in mid town Manhattan.

Some great shows here. The Russian bootleg White Album - is the idea that the Russians couldn't get hold of the genuine copy so someone had one faked up for the Russian market? The drawings inside are fantastic.

I think there is one more reason: Andrey Tropillo (founder of the publishing company of this LP in Russia) gave his friends, artists and designers the opportunity to earn money! In the 90s, there was little work in Russia ...

I always liked that "Rarities" album. Good assortment of tracks that while not very rare anymore were at the time a revelation especially in the United States. Again there are some rather dubious mixes on that album but that is to be expected and keep your clothes on!

I finally picked up a copy of Jerry Lee Lewis "Live at the Star Club". If you see a copy don't pass it up as it is the best Rock n' Roll Concert ever recorded. Don't know if you heard the news, besides CBS picking up a new "Star Trek" TV show. They are also involved in the reboot of "Lost In Space". As an LIS fan, the first season is still the best, I picked up Season 3, on DVD and hope to watch them in the order of Production number. You can find it at the end of the episode. Oops! Cool shirt.
@MeanMrMayo
@MeanMrMayo 8 жыл бұрын
matt S - I don't like the idea of rebooting, but in the case of LIS (Season 3 was my favorite) it could work if it was done seriously this time and not campy like the 60s series (therefore both shows would be their own separate things). I think STAR TREK has been done to death already.
@bigbadm1
@bigbadm1 8 жыл бұрын
I personally do not think both will work. If I was to do a re-boot of an old show, it would be "Time Tunnel". The only problem I had with that show was how everyone spoke English. I Forget, English is roughly 500 years old. The only word that they would be able to speak is when they were at Jericho as the word for "Water" is "Water". It came from a translation from a stone tablet at the time.

PS, over here is the bay area, circa 1979. "Musicland" record stores, for over a year & after John Lennon was shot, had several copies of "Introducing the Beatles". Since I had "Please Please Me", I didn't think it was necessary, but I did buy "Hear the Beatles Tell All". If I only knew then what I know now, I would have bought a lot of copies.

That looks like the Butcher Street Album by the Beatles I don't think that collectors will go for that plain cardboard sleeve so it would be preferable to lose the white cardboard sides to show the body parts which where covered up so as not to alarm people.

See that last McCartney Ebony & Ivory etc 12" you showed; the cover would've been suitable for Hello Goodbye. As it has that duality (black/white; male/female; sun/moon; good/evil) theme that permeates Hello Goodbye. It's one of Paul's most lyrically eternal songs, as duality is the main principle of this reality. You can't have one side of the coin without the other.

Question Joe:....Is the front cover photo on your Rarities album raised or smooth?......also, I have the Russian White Album along with the Russian Hard Days Night, apparently Russian did'nt start releasing Beatles vinyl until the 1990's....great finds once again.
@MeanMrMayo
@MeanMrMayo 8 жыл бұрын
Perry Corvese - It's raised. It's the first one.
@bungalowcraigsvinyl6092
@bungalowcraigsvinyl6092 8 жыл бұрын
+Perry Corvese +MeanMr Mayo This is correct. According to Perry Cox the first ones did have only the front picture cover raise and not the back. But the best way is to look for the first presses are the mistakes on the back... i.e... the Lennon quote, "There's a Place" incorrectly states that it has never been in stereo to that date, and the George Martin credit. Nice job on the update. I am impressed Joe. Take Care. Peace.
