Comment below what BFS rod are you using for trout?

Finetail but looking at higher end rods really wondering if they are really worth the extra money

@Curtis Medina Really depends. The Tsu Ares is still one of my favorite trout rods. There are some small details that make sense with expensive rods. I have used the Tenryu Rayz Spectra and I think it has some great small features like the way the taper allows responsive twitching and still gives under pressure. I dont like paying for cosmetics though. This Jackson rod feels great on the water in the very limited time I have had with it. The way the rod collapses and still has good action in the blank is crazy.

Man thats a steep tag! I remember when I first got a telescopic for a Florida trip using it to wade the inlets. I was unhappy unboxing with how tip heavy and slow the taper was but then after catching 3 dozen snook on a 3/8oz swimbait in ripping current I became overly pleased with the way it ended up being a great blank performing better than I could have imagined. You wont be disappointed in this one, nothing like being able to fish a stream on a hike when the hike was not planned to be a "fishing" trip!

It is going to be great for going on hikes with people and not having to commit to carrying a rod when out with friends. Easy to bring along and wet a line real quick.

I have been using light telescopic bc rods from the Daiwa BBB , Blazon and other lesser names . Some advise I'll like to share if you want to keep the rod from getting damaged and for RAPID deployment . I prefer rigging the rod up while at home so u save time feeding line through the guides . I ease off the tensions and extend my telescopics from the TIP first ... as long as the following guide is lined up with the preceding guide , all the way through full extension , all the guides will line up right... you just line the entire extended rod up against the reel . If I extend from the THICKer sections first and work towards the tip , I run the risk of snapping the tip section by accident by just putting too much pressure on the tip when I get there especially when fiddling around with the darned floating guide haha I end up hitting the water alot faster while everyone else is still setting up. Applications ? I dont have the luxury of fishing streams living in a very urban city environment so fish canals alot that have high human traffic. It allows me to rapidly deploy within 30seconds , sneak in a half hour of casting and it collapses within 15seconds when I'm done . Stuff it into a backpack or grocery bag and I disappear.

Thank you for the tips!!! I do not plan on extending the rod like I am drawing a sword 😂. The telescopic design like this was made for hiking to trout stream but, I see the functionality of it for urban fishing as well, especially if you take public transportation.

The diawa triple b rods are unmatched in my opinion. I have 5 of them ranging from the medium light 6’6 up to the medium 6’6. I was told the 6’3 medium light would work pretty well for BFS fishing. Do you happen to have that rod ? If so how does it handle ?

Telescopic rods and bfs seems like they could compliment each other nicely. When you are collapsing the rod twisting/rotating each section as you go is safer than pushing down. Can't be too careful on a nice rod like that.

I am in a wheelchair and telescopic rods are the only way to go for me, especially when I am having to move a lot while fishing. They allow me to keep the lure secure and all I have to do is extend it collapse the rod while I am moving around. Mine are a cheap Chinese models from AliExpress and think 1 gram models and I have had to do work on all of them to get them to work but they have caught a lot of fish over the years and they store easy in my vehicle. I am always looking for a better model I will look into this one. Thanks for the video

I have been reluctant to try a telescopic rod for a long time. I been looking into one and this one seemed to check all the boxes I was looking for. There will be future videos using this rod. With my limited testing so far, it works minnow style lures really nice.

@@HobieWanKenobi I have actually fished as low as trout magnets on mine using the dark wolf ultra reel and they work nice for bfs. My shorter rods work great for crankbaits as well and are very accurate for 20 bucks. I am going to swap out the top section on two of them with some better carbon blanks that I found and hope that makes them a little better yet.

This rod does have more backbone for sure. It also isn't super stiff so, those 10in+ fish can still be controlled.

Brook Trout = Kuying Teton ttc 522sul Small Stream Trout = Major Craft FineTail fts b542ul All Around small to larger stream trout = Kuying Teton ttc 510s I had a 6' teton that i used last year for some stocker trout but i broke it. :( I liked that models parabolic action. I have the ace hawk c602ul. Not used it for trout yet. The light top broke while setting the hook on a dink smallmouth. kinda been leary of the brand since. i may use it this weekend however. it has the most backbone of the rods mentioned followed by the teton 510s, finetail then the teton 522sul. even the latter seem to have more of a backbone than your Tsurinoya for reference. The 510s while having backbone is more ul than all but the 522sul which is the closest to that Tsurinoya you had in the video but with a surprisingly defined fast action backbone for as light of action as it is. Conversely the ace hawk is more of a light action rod with a ul half/tip. The tip on the 510s is uber thin and light too! mores so than the acehawk! Sucks buying rods without getting them in hand. Hope this helps some peeps!

@shtizen Thanks for the info on your rod loadout. 5'2" would be kinda long for my Brook Trout streams as there is a ton of tag alder and everything else that is always in the way. Not a bad length for standing on the bank or in shallow water. Once you get to your knees or thighs, a longer rod can be an issue in tight cover for my streams. I have never used a Kuying or Ace Hawk rod. The Finetail Glass series interests me.
@shtizen4371
@shtizen4371 2 жыл бұрын
@@HobieWanKenobi Hmmm....5'2" is my tight cover rod length. lol I'm fishing some tight areas but still need length to make longer casts to heavily pressured trout. Which is why i dont like going below 5'. And also to lazy to hike further back up creek to the less pressured fish...lol Finetail glass series seems like it would fit you perfectly for your use case tho! The teton rods are great for the money. they have a wide selection of actions and powers across multiple lines! Now that BFE carries em one wont have to wait 6 weeks for your rod! As mentioned i have broke 2 tetons but both were my fault. One i clipped with my car while turning around at a tight boat launch after unloading my yak. the other i was pulling a snag in some fast water while in my yak and grabbed the blank below the joint and miss judged my pull combined with the current force. The Ace hawk i just set the hook on a dink smallmouth and the light action half went pop! I think because of the relatively heavy bottom half just over powered the stiffer light action top. I have used the ultra light top without issue. But the ace hawk was less than half the price of the tetons and came with 2 top halfs. With the ultra light action top its perfect for ul (no heavier than 3/16th) jig n trailer presentations. It still has a light tip similar to the dobyns bfs offering. Really amazing what you get for the money. Almost wish Ace Hawk would use better components and charge a lil more. I must confess im not much of a trout guy. I do trout fish but usually just until early smallmouth bite comes in. So trout fishing just happens when im camping near trout streams and with select friends.
