This car looks dynamite. The special grille is not only an improvement, there's also a slight 'sharknose' to it like the older models. Well done BMW. BMWs newer manual boxes are a disaster. They have the bypass in them like the golf GTi/ manual Mk7 R and they get all sorts of issues especially on fast B-road use you get warming lights and a slipping clutch. Abysmal cars

These new bmw's are being slowed down significantly by being boats I'm sick of that, the m4 csl would be a low 7 second car on nurburgring on the ring if it was lighter. As a BMW fanboy, i have to say that i'm much disappointed about the 3.0 csl. I so wished it had at least 590-600 HP. Its just a flashier BMW M4. The rear part of the side windows where the badge is now, clearly shows that they took an M4 straight up. That 2015 3.0 csl hommage looked the part. This 1 I wouldn't call it lightweight. At above 1600KG. I just wished it could've been at most 1525 kg. I like the tribute to the batmobile but this one doesn't quite cut it. Honestly, getting the M2 cs, M4 comp, M5 cs and/or the M8 is a way better choice. My expectations have been shattered. This hurts😮‍💨😞

yes it looks better than a normal m3/m4 but couldve looked even better, if they just copied the Hommage R... if you compare the two theres many details that make the Hommage R much better looking and special, this just looks like a knock off of that car and is stupidly overpriced. For a car intended to be super limited and special, its sad BMW didn't go all out with it on design. If they tried hard enough I'm sure they could find a way making Hommage R's design street legal, especially for a car this expensive. Looks like they saved bunch of money and just based it on the M4 to make it look like the Hommage R with addon parts instead of creating something truly special. On the bright side this does look much better than any M3/M4 and this grill should've been the new gen's design instead of the current atrocity.

Their newer manual boxes are a disaster they get all the same issues the mk7 golf GTI and manual golf R box that had the bypass on it have. Constantly slipping on purpose and they don't last. Ridiculously bad boxes

Well, design-wise it really leaves no reason to complain. While not as good looking as the prototype, it's actually a very bold design and next to the F87 M2 and G80 M3 has the sexiest stance of all new BMW's. The 6-speed manual transmission is a big deal, too. While throwing the ZF8 basically everywhere they can and justifying it with more or less clever marketing, this is a welcome decision on BMW's part. What I find especially interesting is the power/torque ratio, unlike any other turbocharged car I know. It's actually got less Nm's than HP. I'm guessing lower boost compared to the CSL or even the Competition Package and some cylinder head redesign, maybe more aggresive camshafts. That relatively low torque number and high power promises a spiky, NA-like powerband, that rewards chasing for revs. And makes the torque more manageable on an RWD car. However, at this price point it should tip the scales at 1400 kilograms. With all the weight I guess it's just not special enough to justify the supercar-like price tag. Too bad. They should've used a CFRP tub, kept the price and made more of them. That would make money and do really well for the brand image. So the overall result is kind of disappointing.

In 1972 I was an Apprentice mechanic in a BMW garage. The original 3.0 CSL toured the (few back then) U.K. dealers. We all got to go in it (driven by a BMW rep though).

That front grille looks out of place, but I guess that's the BMW touch nowadays.

Looks horrible to me. The grille isn’t much better then the m4/3 either. Think vertical slats would of been better.
