With the M3 being almost twice the price of the Type R and only 1.5 seconds faster that alone tells you how great the little guy as a front wheel drive vehicle!

I'm thinking this was a slightly biased review in favor of the M3. Not once did I see the active front spoiler lowered on the Alfa's fast lap which means the lap was driven in Normal mode. In Dynamic and Race mode, the active spoiler lowers at approximately 60 mph, which the car should have easily been going at the entry to the chicane, 2:56, at the end of Hangar Straight. Driving the Alfa in Normal mode would make a significant difference in lap time compared to Race mode. I still enjoyed the review and the M3 is a phenomenal car, even the new front end is growing on me!

Come on, do you really expect them to be filming the car doing its lap with all those different angles, a car crossing the path of the racer, etc? I would expect that they don't even film the laps, except for the interior shot and bumper POV. This isn't Top Gear, even if the quality is delicious. Cars are also probably left in the comfort setting to get more dramatic images (more roll, squat, etc. to give more sense of speed).

This video just proves that the M3 isn't really quicker than the Giulia Q. Not the same tyres. Tyres on the Giulia ridiculously gives no grip in cold weather when the video was recorded. The front splitter doesn't moves under 0 Celsius. What's the point of this video? :D

Its fast, but the £85k+ list price is insane. Used market will be your friend in 6 months, even then i think the Alfa takes my heart. Hell even the A45s is mega. Owned the pre facelift FK2 Civic Type R and it was incredible for the money, bit outclassed by these when it comes to the real world though. Perfect for Sunday B road blasting though.

Well the BMW is nicely built and a lot more toys to play with, but when it comes to desired driving please aside from the fact that the Bimmer looks cumbersome it is almost ugly with that front grille. The Alfa on the other hand despite its 5 years since debut looks fresh and trounces convincingly the BMW dynamically for its outstanding driving pleasure.

The competition is estimated around ~540 hp at the crank. BMW definitely understating the power. The tuning potential & forged components of the S58 are what will set it apart from the rest. Since the next C63 is going to be powered by their 4 pot engine, it is no surprise they are attempting to soften the blow of 4 less cylinders with 100+ more hp than it's V8 predecessor.

3 years later the m3 and m4 still are. Even the new merc gt doesnt come close to a 2.8 0-60 and 11.0 quarter mile. Plus the new lci versions just came out with even more HP. A simple jb4 500$ plug and play boost its power and quarter mile to 10.3-10.4

There’s only two proper drivers cars on this shootout, the Alfa and the Civic. Also the more road orientated, proper suspension and less reliant on electronics. The fact the A45S is only 70kgs lighter than the Alfa 😩 The BMW beat the almost 6 yrs older Alfa only because of, and I quote, “trick diffs” and should I had the fact that hving more torque and being geared towards aceleration. Looks are subjective but there’s no way around this M3 being 140kgs heavier than previously, leave alone 180kgs heavier than the Alfa. Where’s the evolution, the engineering? Also the price... you can pretty much buy a QV and the Type R for a fully loaded new M3/M4, and the BMW will still be cheaper on finance than probably both... bonkers 🤦🏻‍♂️
