Officers are not encouraged to wear a bodycam during the time of the actual search procedure and its actually discouraged by the LMPD. However, this law has since changed since the incident and officers are now required to have body cams on during search warrants. This footage is from the SWAT AFTER the incident. The officers carried out three other warrants during that same night and no one got hurt. Its time to let go of the media brainwashing that these cops are out to harm a black woman because they have nothing better to do. Absolutely false. Unfortunate she died though. “A unit such as narcotics, they may not wear body cameras due to the desire to protect some of the people that they interact with and to protect their investigation,” LMPD Major Paul Humphrey said. River City Fraternal Order of Police President Ryan Nichols took Humphrey’s statement further. Nichols told WAVE 3 News because narcotics officers often deal with informants and sensitive drug information, wearing body cameras on a day-to-day basis may actually hurt their investigations. “[Informants’] identity needs to be protected," Nichols said. Ummm no. The cops that executed the warrant did NOT have body cameras turned on. This was a well known fact from the start. Strike one against the chief of police, who was fired when the riots kicked off months later, when the restaurant owner was shot and killed, after strike two, the cops involved with THAT shooting also did not have cameras turned on. To be fair, LMPD didn't shoot, it was National Guard that shot and killed David McAtee. But, he never should have fired blindly in their direction.

Some people may steal or deal drugs because they are broke and need to put foot on the table. They may have looked at the consequences (i.e. x number of years in prison) and thought "I'm willing to take that risk." It is unjust to then kill them and say "well they shouldn't have committed the crime in the first place" or "they knew what they were getting into."

Wrong. Police officers carrying a search warrant are NOT required to have body cams at the time of the warrant. That has since changed after this incident.This was the SWAT team after the shooting. The 3 officers who initially carried out the warrant did not wear body cams. They were in plain clothes wearing police vests. They carried out 3 other warrants that same night and no one got hurt.

I'm seeing an inconsistency in the boyfriend's story. Here he stated that his girlfriend fired the shot because she was scared. But in his interview with cbs 2 weeks ago.. he states that he fired the shot from his gun. Why did he lie originally? Was he just terrified and misspoke? Or was it intentional? However, it seems to me that ballistic evidence and maybe finger prints would show who fired the shot. So far, I haven't seen any of that. And, the cops are going with the story that the boyfriend took the shot. So, if it was him, after taking the shot, he may have seen that they were cops, usually you look at what you are shooting at, and stopped shooting, because he saw they were cops. Or, maybe they were still identifying themselves as they shot. One thing is clear, the cops botched this job, from start to finish.

Ok let me clear something up because it seems there’s a lot of complaining about having the footage of the warrant during the incident instead of the aftermath. The unit conducting the warrant does not wear body cameras but the officers who showed up afterwards do wear body cameras (That’s the point of view you see in these clips) there is no body cam footage of the incident only the aftermath stop using that as an excuse to why your narrative of an innocent woman who got shot by racist police officers in her sleep is now crumbling. More and more information is being presented to the public to help understand why those officers are not charged with murder.

Revolt, VICE, and Hollywood unlocked are not the type of places I go to for concrete information, furthermore the officer you mentioned Tony James is not one of the 3 officers facing charges nor is he one of the 3 officers who were trying to serve the warrant that night. Officer Cosgrove had the mount but no camera as he is not required to wear a body camera in his unit. Her bedroom was likely less than 15ft to the front door. Her position in the hallway where she shot at police is likely 10ft.

My first thought was not the cops it was "my homes being broken into" I don't own a firearm but if I did I guarantee I would of pulled it. I was not charged with any crimes after the raid either. I agree with you but I'm just giving a different perspective I am not a criminal I work everyday of my life and still have had my house raided on a no knock warrant with know announcement it was law enforcement. Marcus ay It’s good to hear it from that perspective too. As a gun owner myself if someone started breaking into my house I would load up and be prepared. This is under the circumstances that it was unannounced and there was no real reason for any law enforcement to have a warrant for my arrest. But honestly, even then I would at least need to have a look outside to see who it is before I pull the trigger under any circumstance.
