I concur. Charles Ceronio has been a great inspiration and teacher since my introduction to bonsai in 2015. He was an icon of the bonsai philosophy and development in South Africa. I learnt a lot through our meetings and through his books. And yes, all illustrations done by Charles himself. A great artist who always present sketches of raw trees even before styling and then does presentations following these sketches as a guide as the tree progresses through the styling process over the years.

Cool mini stands!!! Nice buys on the pots!!! Books are always a wealth of information. A cup of tea or coffee and a good book to relax with is always enjoyable.

A book would be a great idea from your point of view 🎉🎉🎉... Great video my friend, I refer to you often in my videos 😁

I think you could write a great book. Especially with the great detail you do on root pruning and getting different types of roots to grow in a natural pattern. From my books, there is no one that does roots like you do. Whole chapters on a few species with pictures is what the world needs. Second half can be the clip and grow way with how trees look in nature which also would be super. Just some thoughts.

Yes, I would buy your book, too! One thing I think is missing in many books is the long term progression of trees - and you have a great record to draw from. Something that shows how that drastic cut you make on a young seedling ultimately smooths into attractive features of the maturing tree.

An excellent idea writing a book! I am sure there is some kind of program that could transcribe the amazing library of videos you have. Then, adding all the other elements you speak of.... I'd buy it.

Awe Kittens! Perhaps there is a cat specific rescue that can come and get them. They will spade and neuter mom and kittens before rehoming them. People must apply and be screened before adopting. We have some wonderful rescues here. I water my trees twice a day if needed, but only on days I work. I water when needed when I'm not working. Your book shouldn't be one book Nigel. It really should be a series. Each book in the series can be dedicated to a type of trees. Say, Hardy evergreens, a set of styles or just Ficus. You'll have to list all the trees you want to talk about and group them together. That will allow you to talk more in depth about each tree type than you could cramming them all into one book. Jay showed me pictures of the open house. Looked like it was a wonderful place!

Hi Nigel I couldn’t agree more with your comments about watering your trees, I spend a good hour or more individually watering all my trees with a hand sprayer using rain water as you do, at the moment we in the U.K. have had a very long sunny spell, which is unusual here, I have a large water butt which collects the rain water, my problem is that the water but is emptying fast, so if we have no rain much longer I will have to water some trees with tap water which I hate and use the rain water on trees that I am aware do not do well with tap water, I don’t have the luxury of having more than one water butt at the moment. I will still use the sprayer as I can’t imagine watering using a hose, to me it is a lazy way of caring for trees, like you I am inspecting the trees at the same time as watering them.

Think it is a good choice place your larch forest in the new rectangular pot - maybe it is because the oval kind of give you the image of an island (which can be good if that is what you want). Well that was my own thoughts.

Nice soliloquy on your relationship with your trees Nigel. If you're not going to engage with them, why have them? Interesting that the western monkey mind misses the present moment by looking to whatever is "next," so a responsibility like watering becomes a bother rather than a joy. Thanks for "taking time!"
