Been playing UW control in standard and had a really solid winrate against all archtypes, then these aftermath analyst decks started popping up and they're a nightmare to deal with.

at 44:55 if you play takenuma into analyst you only need to mill 2 lands out of 6 cards to win the game (slogurk needs to be 11/11) edit: or you can mill 1 land w/ takenuma and use boseiju to give slogurk the 3rd +1+1 counter he needs it looks like atraxa revealed the top 5 were nonlands so this wouldn't've worked.

There is definitely SOMETHING here. The cftsoc list is awesome... but there's a lot of space to improve. I hope to see more iterations of this one!

I would disagree that there's "a lot of space" to improve it. Not too much wiggle room in the list, really. Not without making it too gimmicky or weaker overall.

The chat is always filled with dopes who act like they're any good at the game. They have never won anything relevant ever, they play bad all the time (on Arena and in real life), yet they sit in there and critique everything a streamer is doing; and not in a comedic or trolling tone, either. They would just lose most games and blame land screw - the sign of a truly mediocre player who believes themselves to be better than they really are. (DISCLAIMER: That isn't to say it never happens, but blaming outcomes on that, especially with frequency, shows an inability to learn, improve, or adjust. Plenty of pros have been on camera at a PT or World Championship, gotten land-screwed or flooded, and still found ways to win. That's why they are pros and you are not. They can also find something valuable to learn from a loss, and not in the cliche/Hallmark sense. Athletes do it to: they can blame the refs for making bad calls, or learn something and be better next time.)

I would bet substantial money that playing over 60 cards is game theoretically optimal in more than 10% of decks. At some point, AI will prove this.

That sentence is so meaningless. No context, 10% of what decks, who's playing (top 100, mythic, pros only?), what format etc

Does edh make up 10% or more of the decks? Also, more than 60 cards weakens sideboarding. Not sure if that would ever be optimal.

Playing more than 60 cards is theoretically optimal in 100% of decks that have yorion as companion.

@@CrytaljamLet’s be more specific. Not OP, but I would bet that playing more than 60 cards is optimal in more than 10% of standard tournament decks. Because sometimes 60 exactly doesn’t give the right mix of mana to spells, creatures to removal, etc. So likely 61-62 is often optimal. But of course, impossible to know.

I think there are decks like this one that play better with more cards. In general more cards means less consistency, but due to the aggressive trimming of this deck, consistency issues are heavily mitigated and more cards means more gas. It's very common to run out of basics when playing this deck and more cards would keep this deck going for longer.
