I currently own two older properties and one new build and just a few things to add. I think the costs of an older building could actually be more to upkeep and buying a new build property off plan is not a bad thing provided you do your research on the area. You get measurements for room sizes so you know exactly what your getting. Do love the channel. I purchased my first property at 21 and really happy to see younger people getting on the property ladder. Keep inspiring people.

Hi, My partner and I are in the process of finding our first property to purchase. You said you purchased your first home at 21 and now own three in total which is fantastic. We would eventually like to purchase other properties as well to build a portfolio. Would you be able to share some tips on comparing the purchase of a new build and an older property as a first home? Many thanks.

My uncle lives in a privately owned flat for over 20 years and have complained about the large increase in surge charge to do refurbishment to the block though as everyone is a home owner this is more likely to divide the cost more evenly....though if you are buying ex council flats BEWARE I have seen programs where the council need to do extensive work as they have let the block fall into disrepair while all the council tenants can enjoy free refurbishments they will often charge lease holders through the roof I saw in one block they were charging them close to £20,000 each with little prior warning many of the home owners had lived there for over 10 years these days a lot of councils are willing to do less for more money than in the past

Old buildings can be expensive because the bills will be more, they are not well insulated etc. New building usually have a 10 years warranty, so if anything happens, you just call them. Old building can be dangerous too, asbestos were wildly used in old buildings. If you have an ex council flat, and your neighbours are council tenant, you’ll be paying for them. When there are damages from them, they get it repaired for free and the cost is sent to you. Most heaters etc are after thought for old buildings. New buildings can be really great but as like all things in life, there are cons. This analysis is not deep enough but one should expect a KZbinr to give a professional advice. Thanks though great video.
