I have an Emergency Card in an envelope glued inside the front cover of my journals. It’s got all the info about me, medical info & three emergency contacts just in case something happens to me. My journal is the one thing that is always in my bag & it’s the first thing one would grab out of my bag. I always make it a priority when setting up a new journal.

This setup is super cute! Rainbow colors just make anything look nice, even when it's still really simple! I tried a B5 for my last journal and it only lasted three months! 🤷♀️ idk how I managed to go through it so quickly lol I liked having more room in the B5, but I went back to A5 this time. I like to keep it open on my desk while I'm working for notes and, of course, the B5 took up a lot more space. My desk isn't very big lol

Yeah that's something I'm a little worried about; how the size translates to usability of desk space and transportability 😅

I'd love to see a B5 set up to maximize space with minimal decor. To see if you could get a whole year out of one.
@adriannelaconi43682 жыл бұрын
I think you totally could. I use a B5 and I use mainly stickers or small drawings to accent my setups. Mostly cause I am not that great of an artist and I dont have a lot of time to be doing complicated art pieces even if I was. I agree you see a lot of the B5 users out there with the watercolors and gauche paints but you could totally do a more minimalistic spread and just have more space. I'm looking at my spreads and its literally a corner sticker here and a doodle there just cause I want something pretty to look at while maintaining its functionality. I will probably get about 8-9 months out of mine if not more (and I might try for a full year cause I tend to have less going on in the summer months) but I also include more spreads than just the basics and tend to use a full spread for the Month cover page but again I think if you were pretty intentional with your spreads and were a bit minimal in how you made the weekly spreads you could definitely fit a full year
@JashiiCorrin2 жыл бұрын
I reckon you could totally get a full year out of one. Both Vogel and Rachel are getting full years out of their A5 Archer & Olive journals this year, so it’d totally be doable in the bigger journal 💪 not sure how long my one is going to last me, but I’m excited to get stuck into it 😄

@ldegraaf2 жыл бұрын
I tried using a B5 in 2020 and loved it. I don't think I will ever use an A5 again. It really helps that I never need to take my bullet journal with me, but even if I did I think the extra bulk would be worth it because the extra space has been amazing. I hope you enjoy your new journal. One tip I would offer is to try new spreads. At first I was just making larger versions of my weekly/monthly spreads because I knew that they worked. However, 3-4 months in I decided to change things up and I now have spreads that take advantage of the extra space that the B5 offers which means that I only need 1 B5 journal a year rather than 2 A5 journals. I also figured out ways to get more info in each spread so I don't have to flip the page as much.
@JashiiCorrin2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip Lisa! I could already feel myself tending toward the same-but-bigger mentality 👏

I’ve been wanting to start a reading journal too, but like you, I don’t feel like I read enough books to have one! I’m considering making a “media” journal for books I’ve read, shows I’ve watched, movies I’ve watched, podcasts I’ve listened to, songs/albums I like, etc. Maybe that would give us a better chance to get more use out of a journal 😊 Love your setup Jess!!

Ahhh Welcome to the B5 club, Jess XD I’ve had room to do more artsy stuff along with tons of writing/journaling. I really like it so far. I have room for the next 2 months (I think lolol), so we’ll see how it goes. I really do enjoy the larger size and don’t feel like I’m scrambling to fill space. Every month, I leave one page blank for a moodboard and print out pictures that inspired the theme. I kind of feel like I need even MORE room lol! While the A5 was very nice to handle with one hand, I do like having the extra space. It’s funny how I’ve increased in sizes since starting my BuJo journey lol I wish I saw the new BuJo theme layout for B5 earlier this year LOL I have mine going horizontal like the last one. It was enough room for 6 months and I decorated the bottom edge with stickers and metallic gel pen embellishments. Looking forward to your impressions on the B5 as time goes on! Would you stay with a B5 or go back to an A5? Who knows!

I have a question: I am so close to finishing my first 2022 bullet journal as well at the end of April ill have approx 26 pages (13 spreads) left i use on average 14 spreads month.. do i start a new one for May and leave pages blank? OR do May in my current one and know that ill be splitting the month between two bullet journals???? ps i love the simplicity of this setup black with little pops of RAINBOW (chefs kisses)
@JashiiCorrin2 жыл бұрын
Ooo that’s a good question! Especially tricky because you’d only be one spread shy! What you could try doing is using a tip-in to add and extra sheet (and thus spread) to your journal so you could fit the whole month in, just to make the most of the space you have left 🤔 otherwise I’d be inclined to make it an opportunity to try some new more “compact” layout styles that get you using fewer spreads where possible 💪 if you did opt to move into a new journal for the new month though, can always use those extra pages for other things (I sometimes cut mine out to use as space paper for making future tip-ins) 💜 hope that helps!

I see that I prefer a bigger journal and this B5 looks pretty big. Is it letter sized?
@adriannelaconi43682 жыл бұрын
Letter size is generally about A4 (or slightly smaller) I know in the US letter size is 8x11 inches and a4 is 8.4x11.7 inches. The A&O B5 is 6.93 x 9.84 inches (A5 is 5.75 x 8.25″). I tried an A4 for a very short amount of time and it was massive. B5 is a nice compromise because its just the right amount of increase over an A5 and not so huge you feel like you are carrying around the biggest book ever

I mean, I don‘t wanna be an enabler or anything (that might be a lie) buuut you could always do a ‚media‘ or ‚stories‘ journal and do movies, shows, games, books etc. 😄 I mean all of these things typically tell a story that affects you and makes you have thoughts and feelings so it might be worth journaling about idk 🤷🏼♀️😂 I‘ve been toying with that thought myself but I somehow stopped consuming any media so I decided I might not need that after all 🥲🤣
