I must say that I am grateful to be an owner of this great tool. I honestly didn’t believe I could be switch over from Gränsfors Bruk axes but I believe I found the sweet spot: the Pöul Tools axe is in-between in size and weight of the Forest and Wildlife hatchet by Gränsfors Bruk so that makes it more applicable for more applications, not too big and not too small.
Also, the swell on the handle fits my hand perfectly. I always found the handle on the GB to be a little small for my hands and I believe they do that so it can be more universal but that just adds to fatigue.
The craftsmanship on this axe is top-notch! It was the first thing I noticed when taking it out of the box. The finishing work alone is just so precise and finally detailed, although this is a handmade axe. It’s made of 1055 Swedish steel which is a standard for Swedish axes. It’s a great steel that is easy to sharpen and thus keeping your cuts clean.
Presently, my favourite axe but I don’t think there’s another that will top it. Let me know if you have any questions.
On this trip the first thing I encountered was a family of Bear. I had just came up the hill and there they were, about 5 of them.
The mother looked up the tree as to escape up it, however, you could see her thoughts "if I go up this tree I might lose my cubs. Better yet, run..... Run my little ones, run!!!"
It's always special to run in them. They are bonus points and passage to the wild within.
The plant I foraged was Garlic mustard, it was a staple for Europeans who brought it over here to the States.
It's incredibly nutritious and grow everywhere. Now that it's fallen out of favour and lose to history it's now treated as a weed. I didn't film me eating it but it can be thrown in a salad or sàuteed, and that's what I did.

I envy northern Europe. I live in Veneto, northeast Italy, one of the places where nature has been consumed by agriculture. There are no forests for tens of kilometers.

Hello mate, don’t let that hold you back, I’m 80 km from the wilderness and I head out every two weeks and stay for as long as I can. During the pandemic, I would stay for weeks at a time. I take the rail to this area but also work in the city. When there is will, there’s always a way.

Brother I would find it pretty difficult to go back home if I was in such a place. Too beautiful, too soothing. Supposedly I have some Scottish heritage in our family so seeing you wearing a kilt kind of hits home. I can imagine the boys down in the nether region doing the William Wallace routine "FREEDOM" as the wind whips up the skirt. Great video as always, take care.

Yes, I spend up to 2 weeks a here sometimes, and never want to leave.The small kilt, or modern kilt, emerged in the 18th century, and is essentially the bottom half of the great kilt. The word kilt comes from the Scots verb kilt meaning "to tuck up the clothes around the body", which comes from the Old Norse kjalta meaning "lap", "fold of a gathered skirt". @johnfromscotland1050

Hi Richard, glad you enjoyed it. It is a brand-new ax so it does take some getting used and perhaps a little sharpening would help. Thanks

@TheLoreofBushcraft Ай бұрын
On second thought Richard, I don’t know if you noticed, but that wood had quite a bit of knots, and it was water-logged. It was not only a wet environment but it was also raining throughout the trip and the axe was plenty sharp. It was also my first time using it, so I needed it soon getting used to. Cheers

Thank you very much for your encouragement. My thoughts are only the best will do. When you are in such a rugged environment, you need good quality kit that’s going to hold up against the elements and last. The anorak is by Filson. Someone asked me about it before and I looked it up and they were sold out so you might be able to get it 2nd hand. Let me know if you need anything else. Cheers

I like your videos but, most of the time, while you are cooking mostly, I have no idea what you are doing. really good videos but, maybe let us know what that stuff is you're grinding, what kind of wild plants you are using, what you are fixing up..ect........Not complaining, you have a very nice place to play.......kinda wondering about the kilt.....Are you Scottish? Anyway keep it up, just the kind of how too videos we all need.....at least I like them. very well done

Hello Billy, it some of my videos I pull up captions but after numerous times I feel that people have got the point. Plus I feel it takes away from the experience of the natural world. I did however, put the video notes in the description, and scroll down past the Axe information. Sorry I thought all would be able to see that I was grinding coffee. I suppose one can not always tell if they are watching on their but it is implied. The kilt is so versatile, comfortable, warm and the winter and cool in the summer. I trek up and down mountains and hills it’s less fatigue than trousers are. There’s a reason why people wore them, and it stands to this day. Let me know if you have any more questions. Cheers
