I love your videos! Just skimming channels and found you. Just ran across this one too and subscribed. I'd get this brand of gear if I hadn't already filled my emergency kit to the brim...lol. 75 is hard on us ladies and it's not like some 40 yo guy packing a bug out bag for the truck. We need a different carrier, extra supplies, and a mule to carry it. The guys I know these days wouldn't know didly how to use an axe or carry anything over 5 pounds. I was raised on a farm slinging 50 pound bales of hay all summer in the heat! Today they all want to live in the "city" so things are handy to them. If there ever is a real disaster kind of emergency, us old folks will be up a creek with only people like you to help us survive. So thanks for your common sense and willingness to teach us beneficial stuff.. I've learned a lot by hard research and upgrading to better equipment as I learn. ie I bought a cheaper tent and a tarp to go over it to keep me dry. And I have several ways to get a fire going even getting fatwood and dry twigs. And yes, I have Bic lighters for backup!!😮

Hello mate, one would think so right??? Anyway, KZbin is a business like any other, so in order to get noticed one would need to advertise and it cost a great deal to do so on KZbin. Regardless of content, one must invest. It’s the hidden secret. Most KZbin channels do it when they start off and also to pump up the viewership on a video they put out weekly (the more views people see the more prestige in their minds, so the more they are willing to watch it). There are videos out there a only couple days old with a million views, they didn’t go viral, they were promoted through KZbin. It’s around $15000 thousand dollars to get 1 million views. Even if you have 100,000 subscribers, only about 35-40% of them, are gonna watch a new video so you need to promote it to get more viewership, which in turn you also get new subscribers. It would be nice if content alone determines the success of one’s channel, but as they say, “if it were easy, everyone would do it.” A lot of channels survive through the support from Patreon because KZbin is minimal income, however, the more you put into KZbin, the more you get out of it. Thanks for letting me know you appreciate the adventures. My channel is just the love of the outdoors,a thriving in such, and a shared mutual interest in Bushcraft. It has also been a way to document these cherished Adventures for life, and if I can bring all along for the ride and that’s all I get out of it, then it’s worth it. Glad to have you along.

Looks like the woods behind my Dad's house in upstate NY.Like you, I find I can pack more in a pack without all the pockets etc. Have to unload everything, but, for me if it's not raining, that reminds me what to do next, what I have, and where things are in my bag...lol. 75 remember!!!

*Scandi Grind Knives are Ok as far as wood work goes…However, for food prep; nothing comes close to a folding ‘Opinel # 9’… phenomenal slicing action and great all rounder..!*
@TheLoreofBushcraft
@TheLoreofBushcraft Жыл бұрын
Hello, yes indeed, I have 5 different varieties of Opinel knives including the Opinel Slim which is razor sharp and thin. I have used them in my previous videos. I planned to do some carving with my new Skog knife from Helle but I ran out of time, however, many have said that it’s great for cooking as well since it’s super sharp, and I agree. The blade is also triple laminated stainless steel which holds up incredibly well to moisture whilst cooking. Also the Mora #2 around my neck is great for food prep. Those are my reasonings.

I just stumbled on this by accident. I have to say it's refreshing to finally see someone who knows how to be comfortable in the outdoors along with eating well. Most folks i've seen chatter all throughout the vid, telling you how tough it is, you have to do it this way to survive, yada yada yada. Your vid was excellent. No talking, just a comfortable camp setup, good food, and did I mention silence?

Hello Steve, for years I use to just lay the trap on the ridgeline but that can cause damage, although the tarps I used were Bombproof. With this new tarp of thinner material, I don’t want to take a chance. Old School is the way to go, quality equipment that will not only last but take on the rigours and punishment I deal out. Thanks for the acknowledgement, Welcome to my adventures Steve! 💪🌱🗻🌲🌿⛰️🏕️

The moss pillow! Wow 👏 😮 I notice you tend to not use paracord or bank line but some sort of traditional twine? Love the trad feel to your style!
@TheLoreofBushcraft
@TheLoreofBushcraft 2 жыл бұрын
Oi mate, leaves are too much work and and carry a lot of Ticks (although I do use them often). The Moss was just so readily available that I even used it underneath my ground cloth for a sleeping mat. I don't think I ever use paracord, but I do use Bankline often. I used it on the spine of the Tarp. I do prefer traditional line and traditional kit, but as you can see I do mix it up. The rope in the video comes from Bushcraft Spain and is waxed, oiled and treated, it makes for excellent rope, however, you're not going to want to cut it, so I use thick twine instead.

Just came across your channel because I searched for traditional camping gear and your equipment and your way of bushcrafting has exactly the vibe I was looking for. I appreciate the detailed video description, the text inserts, and the fact that you put the moss back in its place. Very much respected. I wonder how much your pack weighs. Do you have a lighterpack link? Might be a cool addition for your video description. Anyways, you got a new sub!

Hello Lynus, happy to hear that,traditional is the way to go. My ruck weighs 2.5 kg and 15 to 20 kg when full. The thing is that it's not the weight of the pack but the equipment one brings along. And the less equipment you bring with you the more work you will do out in the field. Also, the more skill the less you carry. The Matilda from Helikon-Tex is a great light weight easy all-round carry pack. Here's the link below, is part of their bushcraft line. Helikon-Tex Bushcraft Line, Matilda Backpack a.co/d/fR9UPHc

@TheLoreofBushcraft
@TheLoreofBushcraft 9 ай бұрын
Hello Ric, thank you, nature provided a beautiful spot for me indeed. It’s in the northeast states. Yes, I returned the Moss because I believe in leave -no-trace principles as much as I can apply them. Right, I don’t normally filter my water if it comes from a flowing mountain source (nature’s tap). I do filter or boil my water if it comes from a lake or a standing pool. I am 50 years old and have been nourishing myself from the outdoors nearly, all my life and I’ve never had an issue. However, I do encourage anyone I train or who asked for advice to filter or boil their water from the outdoors to be safe rather than sorry. Great input thank you!
