Announcement: Putting yourself on KZbin requires a thick skin. Yankee Marshall has a strong opinion and some valid points. He released the video before this one uploaded so he wasn't aiming his video at me. But the critics, including YM will need to stop buying gas to keep from being hypocritical. We get most of our Petroleum from the Saudi's, which are one of the world's biggest terrorist financial supporters. Bin Laden ring a bell? Happy Bicycling!

Five years later, all Canik TP9 pistol models have established a solid reputation for: reliability, accuracy, outstanding triggers, and ergonomics. There is a model for each individual taste, need or purpose. Glock isn't the "king" anymore.

Yep!! Took it to the range again this weekend along with my Glock 19. Ran 150 rounds of mixed ammo through both: not even a burp. Still a Glock nut but I've got to admit, Canik is a strong competitor. Ordered Talon grips this evening for the Canik. However, I must say the factory grip, for me, is the best of any factory grip I have yet experienced. For the price, the Canik has been to date, the best bang for my buck. Awesome firearm!

uptowned, I’m sorry to hear that you shooters in Turkey are getting raked over hot coals with such high prices, but we in America who have become enlightened about what a great pistol that Canik makes sure are enjoying the benefits of Turkish firearms engineering. Every Turk should be proud of this great product and I’m sure even that Atatürk himself would be please at this excellent example of the Turkish firearms industry. My two TP9SFX pistols and my TP9SF are prized possessions along with my rather extensive collection of Turkish pop music.

Testere, I’m very sorry to hear that the government makes purchasing a gun in Turkey so difficult. I think if Mustafa Kemal was alive today he would be disappointed that the government has done this to the fine people of Turkey. I just want to congratulate your country again for making such a world class pistol, all of the KZbin videos I have watched say nothing but great things about the Canik, especially the wonderful trigger. Every time I take my Canik TP9SF or the TP9SFX out of their boxes I can’t help but marvel on the quality of construction on these guns, they are a great testimony to the technical and manufacturing prowess of Turkish industry.

After watching all your videos on the Canik line, I decided on the V2 model. My brother owns a gun store and got one for me at $307. You kidding me? This is a fantastic quality firearm and has all the extras too. I think if it shoots as well as I have seen on all the videos I can see this as a great EDC pistol. Don't let where it is made fool you. Many great European gunmakers like CZ, and being an ISO 9000 facility means high quality. I know, I was in the gun industry for nine years after retirement from LE. Half the cost of a GLOCK and a third of the cost of a Sig, at least at my cost. Great review as usual Don! Can't wait to put some serious rounds through mine!!!!

I just bought one of these, and I have to say, it's one of the best triggers I've ever felt on a striker fired pistol. I had heard about these over the last few months and been on the fence about buying one. I watched several videos and read probably a dozen reviews. Everything I've watched and read said to pick up a TP9 if you find one. Well, I finally found a TP9SF and I love it. It's very ergonomic, holds 18 rounds, and has no decocker. The Mecgar mags are well built and beautifully finished. This pistol easily rivals my Glock 19, and the price of $370 just can't be beat. Sootch00, keep doing what you're doing. You're my go to guy anytime I'm looking at a weapon.

The company has NOTHING to do with the country. Some of you are saying buy Walthers, you mean that company from the 1920's and then on whom made guns for the NAZI's?! Or how about all of you owning AK's from Russia, or owning CZ 75's from the Czechs?? Do you support Communism? Or how about those WASR 10's, you know, the Romanians whom were with the Nazi party and then dominated by Russia? Get real people, you're all hypocrites. @baron81079 жыл бұрын
+TALIZ0RAH But their _government_ is a different story. They've been buying oil from ISIS. Maybe even selling weapons to them in return. These guns might be nice, but I'm still passing them over since Glocks and 1911s for the sake of aftermarket and abundance of used guns for spare parts. Those two designs also have a firm presence in the 'States, unlike Canik. Now, if household DMLS consoles and CAD Scanners become a thing, I'd gladly buy whatever handgun I want, since I'd have a theoretically unlimited supply of spare parts, in addition to being able to produce parts for obscure or relatively new handguns and sell them to fellow owners. Way of the future.

Yea but the Turkish government does support Isis and is a pro Islam state that hate America! That's bigitry for ya pal
@arbhall75729 жыл бұрын
Scowler From my understanding of the situation, I dont think they have much choice in the matter. ISIS controls the local oil, and if they are the only ones selling... That would be like accusing a holocaust survivor of supporting the Nazis because he paid for food during the war, and at some point his money paid for the boots on the feet of the soldier shooing him into a train car. I prefer not to label everyone living some place that has terrorists a terrorist. They dont get to pick who their government supports any more than you do.
@hazardjsimpson2 жыл бұрын
Canik still my favorite pistol. TP9DA, SC Elite and I just picked up the TP9SF. Love these pistols. I actually like the decocker as well, I can keep it loaded and chambered but with the firing pin decocked, it feels safer to carry. Rearming the striker takes minimal movement as well, it's a great feature.
@schmidtythekidd9 жыл бұрын
People need to stop complaining about Canik being a Turkish firearm. If you don't like it, don't buy. If you don't like that Turkey funds ISIS, than don't buy it. I don't hear people bitching about norinco firearms despite the fact that China supports North Korea. People don't bitch about Kalashnikov being Russian despite the numerous dictators that Russia supports and the horrible things Russia does around the world. Gaston Glock is a pretty big asshole, but that fact seems to get glossed over on every G19 review video on KZbin. So if you don't like the Canik for whatever reason, just don't buy it and stop with the hypocritical whiny bullshit. Great review as always Sootch and don't listen to the haters. Keep doing what you're doing.

I've been watching your reviews on the tp9 series. I wanted a TP9V2 but the only shop in my area that sells Canik only had the SA models so after saving for the purchase I go buy one. When I open the box it was a SF model. I had just seen your review on the SF so I was excited. Do to sudden and severe health issues It was over a month before I got to shoot it. Basically the consensus is....For the money, you will not find a better gun. Quality appears excellent and it shoots as well as any others of the same type. I'm happy, because I knew nothing about Canik before this purchase and I was afraid because the price was so good that the quality of the pistol would likely be sub par. I've shot glocks for years but at the end of the day I have to be honest. The TP9SF shoots and feels better than any glock I've ever shot. Shoot both before posting your opinion. Just a side note to the sights, I just bought a TP9V2 and from the looks it has the same TP9SF front sights, at least the same dove tail front sight cut not as what are on your SA or V2 models. (Re-watched) and noticed that the rear sight of the SF also looks to be the same dove tail sight cut as on my V2 front and rear cuts look to be the same size dovetail. So, M&P front sights should work and no Idea for the rear I'm still in search of that info, especially since the V2 is a shorter length sight. (EDIT) Confirmed by Century Arms: (THIS IS FOR LATEST VERSIONS ONLY 2016) The latest version of the TP9SA and the TP9v2 have the same slide cuts as the TP9SF so they will accept Glock 9mm rear sights and S&w M&P front. P.S. Love your channel

+Xaro Xhoan Daxos I've noticed that too. Tactical Response, HossUSMC, the VSO Gun Channel, Sootch, and others are being hooked up by Century. Must be nice getting free guns and gear, but all of these reviews are just from initial testing. Century guns start showing their flaws the more you use them (especially their AKs). That being said, since Caniks aren't actually manufactured by Century, they should be good to go based on the quality of most Turkish firearms.
@StarCypher9 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I believe that Sootch is a trustworthy guy. But...I also think that the reviewers who receive Century guns for free have a positive bias in favor of them. For example: whenever anyone asks which AK they should buy, James Yeager always says Century. And if anyone brings up the fact that people have been reporting failures with their RAS47s on AK Operators Union, he'll block them.

excellent review. I don't care what people say I've heard nothing but good things on these and for the price it's hard to beat.

What the heck is the point of these, besides being cheap? Seriously, a single action only striker fired pistol? I don't get it. Plus, you know, the PPQM2 is better anyways, and is made in a country that isn't yet controlled by Jihadists.
@ChrisPenta9 жыл бұрын
+Christopher Penta Or, you know, M&P because 'merica.
@Commanderhurtz19 жыл бұрын
+Christopher Penta You're kidding, right? Glocks, M&P's, Springfield XD's are ALL single action only striker fired pistols. Just because the country is dominated by 'Jihadists', doesn't mean the COMPANY is bad. Funny you mention a Walther product, because you know, they USED TO MAKE GUNS FOR THE NAZI's. So please, next time you knock something, learn your facts and history. Thank you.
@ChrisPenta9 жыл бұрын
Batarn HAHAHA. Ok, yep. 80 years ago. Buying them now doesn't fund the Wehrmacht. Turkey is a corrupt two faced regime TODAY. The odd part is putting a decocker on a single action only gun. It's like someone that has never shot a gun designed it. And, no, Glocks, M&Ps, Springfields, etc are not single action. They can't be accurately called double action either.
@Commanderhurtz19 жыл бұрын
Christopher Penta So? That wasn't your point. Turkey at one time was dominated by Christianity until the Templars came along, oh, like the profile pic you have. And yes, it's odd, though they did it at first due to import regulations if I remember right. And what? Even Glock on their SITE calls it a 'single action only' gun. Last time I checked, when I pull the trigger on my M&P (You know, because I OWN one), it has to be cocked again. So yes, it is single action.

+Batarn they are so darn cute when they have no idea what they're talking about.

Bought and sold many polymer striker fired pistols and decided they were not for me, my cz 75 compact and 1911 make me looks like I can shot decent. After watching some videos on this one thought I'd buy one and try it. Did not clean and grabed 86 rounds of different boxes of factory ammo and know one at the range believed I never shot the gun before it's a keeper for a affordable gun. I can see myself putting a lot of rounds thru it and mayby a compact version if they come out with one

Made in Turkey fellas. I'm not supporting them by giving them my money to fund groups that attack our citizens. I also have friends in the military that were there and the people spit at them pretty regularly. Plenty of other pistols to buy instead. My two cents, YMMV.

Hk+Walther+M&P= TP9sf No reason striker fired polymer handguns should cost more than this. I'm not a fan of Turkey but at least they are showing that you can make a really good handgun and sell for around $350. Walther, HK, Sig, Glock, Springfield and S&W should all follow suit. I'm interested in the tp9sf compact

+Grant This thing is miles ahead of Keltec. Keltecs are more like prototype guns you'd see stuck in a gun vault in the middle of nowhere.
@protectiverailroaddad75419 жыл бұрын
+Grant I have a ppq, Glock, Hk, Cz and other more expensive guns and this gun is not a piece of crap. Don't fall into the group of people who believe a good firearm needs to be over $500. It's simply not true. The S&W sd9/40 are also really good guns for around $300. My taste in gun is more expensive unfortunately, but I do appreciate a good bargain gun as well. I'm not as shallow as I once was

+Nickolas McCollum So European, like Walther whom used to make guns for the Nazi's? You support communism too by 'soviet'? Kinda silly, I don't care about the country, I care about the product. We Americans aren't that much better, either.

+Batarn yes like Walther who no longer make guns for Nazis saying that is like saying you hate Mercedes because that used to make vehicles for the Nazis. and yes I support Walther, Glock, and Beretta from Europe; CZUB from the Czech Republic; S&W, Remington, Mossberg, and Glock from America

"This gun is produced according to the request of Turkish special forces. Front sight is small so you can see the target becides that and also you can handle the gun from the ground or table easyly because the grip is always stays upper a little bit. Tthis function helps to pick the gun quicker from surfaces. Finally you can disarm and arm this gun by one hand in four move in the case of one of owners hand is injured." (N. Yaman)

Just bought the tan version tonight while out looking at shotguns, heh....But it made me feel better so why not? Feels great, I actually like it more than my Kimber TLE 2 and i might like it more than my Glock 19 and I definitely like it as much as my Springfield XDm .40 and Beretta m9 (in spite of the sentimental value of that) which i modded quite a bit...this gun is just too cool. I can't believe the price for the quality.

FYI I pronounce it hte CORRECT way. "Can"-ick is just being silly, c'mon now. That'd be like saying anyone's name or anything with a similar spelling must be dumbed-down for the sake of it. Yeesh. :P Great review though.

A note about century arms (CA) service... my tp9sf was found to have distressed polymer in what they call the "dust cover." It's the uppermost part of the polymer lower that runs perpendicular to the guide rails. They appeared chewed up and were really ugly. CA asked for photos and upon receiving them, I was promised a replacement. 4 weeks later, I get a package from CA, but it's the original chewed up gun. A note from the gunsmith said that the rails were fine, but as mentioned, the issue wasn't the rails but the polymer that runs perpendicular to it. So far, CA has ignored my follow-up email and I plan to take this up with the BBB and others until I get an undamaged gun from CA.

The Canik is an excellent 9mm. It really competes with 500.00 pistols. The trigger is crisp and it's well built. You have to watch your trigger control. Reset is excellent which means surprise discharge is possible on range. If you can find one I suggest to snatch it.

Purchased TP9SF through Cheaper Than Dirt. Price: $350.00. Ran 150 rounds through it today. Not a single hiccup. I own 4 Glocks. Love Glock. Keep it simple, stupid: pull trigger, go bang! Canik, in my opinion, is equal. I love the thing!! Shoots like a dream. Wonderful sights, grip, trigger. Still a Glock nut but I've room for Canik, anytime!!

Hey Sootch, just wanted to point out that at 6:34, you talked about the SF having a loaded chamber indicator on top of the slide, "like it did on the V2 model...". I know you meant like it did on the SA model, which you were pointing to, the V2 does not have the loaded chamber indicator on top of the slide. I know, I'm a stickler for details, but keep up the good work anyway, your reviews are very much appreciated and respected here! :)

Interesting video. I would think the model without decocker would address some of the issues. I like a decocker on my hammer fired Ruger and Sig since I have easy visual feedback of which condition it is in. If you are expecting the trigger to work and get shocked nothing is happening in a stress situation that would be a problem. The newer model to address that shows flexibility. Training with a firearm is the key.

The front sight on the TP9SA can be changed. Loosen the screw from the underside and slide it out the front. It uses CZ75 sights.

Well, after watching great review after great review, I think I'm completely sold on the TP9. The SF model ditching the decocker, going back to the SA trigger, and adding dovetail sights, has me convinced. I know what pistol I'm getting next.
@TheFacelessMan828 жыл бұрын
If this gun holds up after extreme round counts reliably then I can't imagine a better value out there at all. From what I've seen and read on this tp9sf so far it's basically a glock 17 for 200 bucks cheaper.
@fourleafclover19106 жыл бұрын
I got my tp9sf a week ago and had chance to shoot about 100 rounds today. I had one malfunction where it ejected empty ammo but next round got stuck and unable to shoot. I dont know if I manipulated wrong or something but overall I really like the gun. In my opinion, trigger is far superior than glock 19 or beretta apx that I own.
