Honesty peeps the negativity over the time and "making people wait for a video" comments are a bit harsh. There are hundreds or art channels that post at a time that might not be "convenient" for everyone...keep in mind Jennifer is in a different timezone than you may be. Plus, other art channels post times when a video will premiere days in advance, if ya can't wait, then i guess go look elsewhere for info...goodness knows info is all over if you need it right then. I think we should be thankful that Coloring Bliss does what they do and puts info out there for free on the channel.

The whole point of the set is to use them in partnership with other coloured pencils, they say it on the information for the set itself! Jennifer! You've been stealing my thoughts! How you described these pencils is exactly how I described them to people! I feel that they are an extension to the soft touch range because firstly, they feel softer than the oil based, and secondly, CA don't seem to expand on the Gold range but they do on the soft. Yes, please incorporate them into the soft touch Tri tone and swatch chart. Thank you for all your work and honest opinions. Give 'Little Rose' a squeeze from me xx

Yes please add more information about the Castle Arts sets. I have Gold, Soft Touch, Pasteltints, Metallic, and Harmonious, end will probably get even more. I got Harmonious several weeks ago, when it was made available to Castle Arts Club members. BTW my copy of Quick Color Picker (Print Version) should be here tomorrow, I'm excited to get it.

I would love for this set to be incorporated into the Tri-Tone system with the Soft Touch and Pasteltint. I love the set (moody, dusky colors are some of my favorites) but I'm a beginner when it comes to how to put them in the mix with a more comprehensive set (whether the Soft Touch or the Gold). I'm thankful that the Castle Arts Tri-Tone system does include the pastel set because, again, unless it comes with the set like with the Holbeins, I lack the confidence to mix them in together to find blending groupings.

Those are very beautiful, but like you said, almost monochromatic. I have some cheap ones I got off Amazon that temu also sells. This time it was cheaper on Amazon. The price was about 60 or 70 for 520. They tried to get each color in each shade and highlight as well as metallic. They are very smooth compared to every type of color pencil I have tried (over 5). Now I have a couple different brands all st this time, I will probably show swatching/review of my drawings to show that smooth or crummy effect differences. Thank you for your swatching and reviews. I'm always on the lookout for new art supply types and going reasonable prices. I do want to see your triart with these color tones 🤗❤️👍🏽💯

Thank you - and yes, I would love you to do a video to help me integrate them with another set!😊 I saw a review on another channel and was intrigued by that idea, although I don't own any other Castle Arts pencils. So I bought this set, but haven't gotten past swatching them yet. Unfortunately, one of the gray pencils was completely missing its core. 😢 When I contacted C.A., they said they don't sell them open stock so they couldn't replace the "missing" pencil! To be fair, they did give me a 10% refund, which value-wise was ok. But why couldn't they just open up one of their sets snd send me the pencil?🤷‍♀️ Anyway, looking forward to learning from how you use them - thank you!

That's basically what they did for me, I got 2 of the same browns and one was missing in my Gold set. It'd be so much better customer service if they just sent the one pencil that was missing, or broken, or whatever...just pull a brown off the line for pete's sake! The one area of customer service that CA gets demerits for.

Great review! I completely agree about the set not being beginner friendly. I bought them because sometimes I want a moody feel that is easily created with tints, tones & shades… and I haven’t been disappointed. The set came with links to free downloadable coloring pages and some color suggestions. I found it very helpful to get my feet wet using those before moving on to other pages.

Rachel Henderson has created comparison color charts for Harmonious and Prisma,, Polys, Black Widow. Some colors match existing colors and some she adds grey to make a close match. The charts are on her Ko-Fi shop. These remind me of Graphi tint and Staedtler. I am still on the fence about these. It would be nice not to have to mix colors but I also don’t want to bring out another set of pencils to supplement what I have. Of course, seeing what a beautiful job you did with these makes me want them knowing in my fantasy world mine would turn out just like yours. Thank you for another excellent video.

Thank you for the review. In my opinion, with wanting other colors. These are supposed to be to be “moody and muted” there is not going to have yellow etc. These would be good for a Victorian page. I think you should have not used a flower page and use something that it would fit more. I feel they are a great edition to any set of pencils. Especially for shades.

I have this set and love them. I was impressed with their fast shipping, color swatch sheet in the case and other pertinent information about their other product lines. I would definitely recommend them, like you said to add color variations to a set you already have, not as your first or only set.

When I purchased these, I didn't think I had the Pasteltints pencils so bought that set as well. The following weekend at my parents' house my kiddo was coloring and didn't have several colors - reds, oranges, etc. - that I knew were in the 120(?) zippered set I'd purchased. I flipped through the folio wondering where the heck they had all gone, then it dawned on me: I'd purchased the Pasteltints set months ago in the zip case instead of the tin. So my mom got a nice new set of Castle Arts Pasteltints pencils 😄 Also, I wish CA would produce singles. The thought of having to buy a whole set if a few get down to nubs is off-putting. Guess the makers of individual pencils will get some money as that happens 🤷‍♀️

I have the Harmonius set and have colored a few picture, I did feel the desire to pull in yellows from one of the other sets in a page of "realistic" subject matter, but in a mandala I enjoyed the combinations I used. I would like to see how they work into tri-tones with the other Castle Arts sets.

I'm thinking that since there is only one or two warm colors/tints/tones/shades (lol) in this Harmonious set, that maybe...hopefully?!...down the road we can see a similar set in the warm colors, reds, yellows, oranges etc. Wouldn't that be great??

I only have the 72ct set of normal Castle Rock Colored pencils in the zipper container. I still haven't officially swatched them yet. I like that they have a name and a number AND that they are in a color order of sorts.

My first set of pencils was Crayola but when I saw these I absolutely fell in love with the palette! When I got them I colored the two-page pullout from Johanna Basford's Secret Garden using only the Harmonius set and I can attest that it was really difficult to find color changes and combinations to use. But, I did it and I'm totally in love with these pencils. I do think they are designed to be used in conjunction with their other pencils and I can't wait to try that. I have yet to see how they "play" with my Crayola pencils, but I imagine they will work well together because they are both hard leads so I can use them similarly. Thanks for doing this video!

These pencils look very interesting to me. I like the idea of a more muted range of colors to go with my vibrant Lightfast, Luminance and Polychromos pencils. One question I have is are these pencils lightfast, or is there reliable lightfast information available from Castle Art? Lightfastness is important to me as I only create original art "from scratch" and sometimes sell my work. And I'm not knocking adult coloring. It's just a form of art I've never gotten into. Even if I don't sell a piece, I always want it to be as lightfast as possible, which is why I've invested so heavily in the other brands I mentioned above. Anyway, thanks for your videos and any info on lightfast ratings for these pencils you might have!

I think these pencils would be most useful for shading. I was looking at Rose and how her fur had shades of blue, violet and yellow around her little body, depending on lighting, and using these pencils would work well, (except for the yellow). I can also see using them in a mushroom-y, mossy forest picture.

I bought these when they first released. I love the shades. They are muted shades, IMO, (similar to shades in a metallic set). No, it is not easy to use JUST this set to color with. I store these with my Pastel tint set, they work together, also with the 120 Castle Art. Also, I love all Castle Art sets, and are my favorite budget set. (Castle Art Gold 120 is "OK", they lack colors in certain color families).

Oops! I asked too soon! I went onto the Castle Arts site and they say that these pencils have not yet been tested for lightfastness 😢. But, the "yet" makes me think that they might do so in the future (I know testing is expensive, but even using the Blue Wool Scale would be acceptable to me). Anyway, I bit and purchased this set. Worth a try, I think. It will be my first time using this brand.

Very fair review, but I think that you made a bit of a stick for your own back by only using the harmonious colours for your test as they specifically said that they were designed to be used with other colour ranges.

The colors are quite interesting, but I m very hesitant to order them. I had a small set of Castle Arts Soft Touch a specialty set in the Van Gogh Starry Night colors, and I absolutely hated them. I tried them in every book I have, Johanna Basford, Maria Trolle, Hanna Karlzon, Eiry, Kerby Rosanes, and others with Amazon paper, and they were awful, I’m sorry to say. That said I know people love them.
