We love our D6 dozer! Great machines from CAT. Keep up the good work!
@dmsdmullins5 жыл бұрын
One of the problems with CAT is that they under power the machines because they don't want to pay for warranty cracking in the frames. You can put all the grouser you want on one but if it simply will not push a full blade then what is the point? After our machines are out of warranty we put much higher pressures on the drives and make way more money per machine. Yes they break but we reinforce those failures where we can. CAT wants you to baby all their new equipment and the new stuff is hundreds of thousands more expensive than a decade ago.

I'm guessing there are a lot of Caterpillar customers who would not consider frame breakage a good a thing.

I drive Cat's, soley, for a living, you can call me a "Professional" and I would consider new model Cats as "Garbage" tractors.
@Forconstructionpros15 жыл бұрын
@@dmsdmullins Yet most buyers who paid half a million dollars for a tractor that the manufacturer knew was powerful enough to break the frame would sue to get a frame that could withstand the power of the tractor. When Caterpillar upgraded the frame to suit the power of the tractor, you'd have a D8.

Trouble with the D6 is, there are two many electronics the machine is dependent on. The D6 and every bulldozer are prone to lightning strikes. A caterpillar D6 that I have operated. Was struck by lightning and cost a lot of money to repair because it had so much electronics the machine was dependant on. My advice is make bulldozers simple without computers. Just make them basic.

sandwich blades are a lot harder to repair and never the same should you have to weld anything for repair, that cylinder next to the LGP will get mud and crap caked on it and wear easier

So will we still get a variant like the D6K?
@Forconstructionpros15 жыл бұрын
Caterpillar is currently still selling the D6K. But the company is doing away with the letter suffix on its dozer nomenclature, and by the time they finish introducing the newest generation, will have models designated D1 through D11. With the new D6 going up the horsepower and weight scale, the model most like the D6K will be the not-yet-introduced D5.
@Forconstructionpros15 жыл бұрын
@Geo Thomas Don't know. Cat hasn't let any info on it yet. But given the popularity, profitability and variety of today's D6 offerings, I'm guessing they'll offer the D5 in a weight and horsepower configuration very similar to today's D6K with high drive. Could be they'll offer a low-drive, too.
