In this sewing video, I will be showing you my progress on my forthcoming sewing pattern. The Martha Top. Also, you may have noticed my new channel name and rebrand!

I love the new name as I think it really describes my dressmaking and love for sewing so much better. I am also planning on overhauling my summerhouse with the intention of creating a new studio for my vlogs and also as a backdrop for more professional photos.

Beatrice. It was my grandmother's name - I called her Mommom. She wore dresses every day until she got Alzheimer's and couldn't choose her own clothes anymore. She was amazing, old-fashioned, and generally awesome. She taught me everything important: how to sew, embroider, crochet, and knit.

Yes I feel so lucky that my Mum and Gran taught me everything like that too, I don't know how I would have got through life without being able to sew! It's great that there has been such a resurgence in craft and dressmaking with younger generations. Beatrice is a lovely name; my Mum was Elsie and my Gran Florence, which I see has also been suggested as a name for the new dress.

@@juliahiggi5206 Elsie and Florence are both quite wonderful. I love them. My other grandmother was Mildred. She taught me how to pick steamed crabs, mix a highball, and set bagworms on fire. Obviously my grandmothers were quite different.

@@karen2015 I could perhaps pick crabs having been shown once by an American cousin, perhaps mix a highball if I had a recipe, but I don't even know what bagworms are and sure I couldn't set them on fire! You certainly had two wonderful grandmothers.
