V8’s will still be with us for a while. It’s my understanding that GM is investing heavily in a gen 6 V8 while everyone else is going with small displacement turbocharged engines.

The 6th gen Camaro's are such a great performance vehicle. Best price to performance ratio in the segment. That said, im disappointed that GM didn’t allow the car to reach its full potential though. Sad to see it go, R.I.P to an icon.

I'm currently trying to get a 2024 V6 Manual Coupe in Nitro Yellow Metallic with black rally stripes built -- 3LT, red knee pads, no RS package (just want the 18" wheels), dual mode NPP exhaust, Nav, Recaro seats, and sunroof. Orders in at two dealerships, waiting for allocation. Was looking for: new RWD two-door traditional manual transmission naturally aspirated engine (no turbo, no hybrid) The Miata, BRZ / GR86, V6 Camaro, V8 Camaro, V8 Mustang, and Cayman GTS 4.0 are the only ones for 2024. Of those, my wife is about to pick up a 2023 BRZ Limited manual, so having two of the same car seems redundant. The Miata is good in Club RF manual form, but for me open top novelty wears off just a few minutes into any trip, utility is fairly low, and they're pricey for what you get. And that wheel gap -- I liked the later NC Miatas a little better (check out the one Demuro just drove). The Cayman is in another price league at a starting price nearing $100K. The V8s... nice cars but I personally think it's just a bit too much for fun on public roads -- too much torque, geared too tall, can't really dip in much without being dangerous or illegal. The V6 Camaro is the sweet spot in my opinion -- plenty of power, likes to rev, can dip into the power without being too fast / dangerous / illegal. Perfect for having fun. Does well with that Alpha platform chassis. If I actually get this built (the chance of GM picking this up and building it in the next five months is probably about 15%, or only 5% if the UAW strikes on 9/15) I'll mostly keep it stock. Powder coat the 18s gun metal and put lower profile 245/40-18 Firestone Indy 500s at all four corners, 15mm wheel spacers, clear front reflectors, engine cover removed, maybe transmission cooler, performance brake pads, debadge the Camaro emblem on the sides, and possibly a short-throw shifter (although I've heard that's a ton of work on this transmission). Will keep suspension and drivetrain stock I think. If I don't get it, I'm not sure what I'll do -- probably just learn to live with regret at not having acted sooner. Looking for brand new with a warranty, not used. Have had a 2015 Mustang V6 Auto for 9 years (43K miles), ready to move on, and we're coming to the end of the RWD / NA engine / 2 door / manual era. By 2026 I suspect there won't be a single production car meeting those specifications. Even the NE Miata will be going hybrid or full electric.

You aren’t flush for options, that’s for sure, your criteria narrow down your options. That being said it’s going to hurt when a loaded Mazda 3 or Kia Stinger GT absolutely demolish you stoplight to stoplight for the same money

​@@TheDiameter Meh, I don't drag race, least of all from a stoplight. They can "demolish" all they want, who cares? Not much interested in facing off, in performancey driving on surface roads around other cars, or in straightline speed. Truthfully the BRZ and even the Miata both have plenty of accelerative performance for me, I just think because of the reasons mentioned I would try to get into the Camaro V6 rather than the Miata or picking up a second GR86 / BRZ for the household. I think that 3.64 liter V6 is a sweetheart. But I'll probably end up with one of those (Miata or twins) since as I mentioned it's unlikely GM bothers to build my order. 🙄 My main concern is fun away from the traffic, with a little bit of utility to go with it on the side. Naturally aspirated, rear wheel drive, and a manual stick is the best formula for that, I've found -- and having four doors has always struck me as a waste -- the back doors on a four-door would likely never get opened if I owned one!
