I’ve been driving for just over 30 years. 4 years ago I bought my first brand new vehicle. I ordered a 2016 GMC Canyon. It’s the biggest piece of crap I have ever owned.

Went from a 2012 Silverado (which I enjoyed) to a 2016 Canyon (which I hated). Crappy throttle response, crappy climate control, poor control layout, poor use of space, no better economy than the Silverado. Got rid of it in about 11 months, fortunately for about what I paid for it.

So the main issue was the oil pump / pressure was having issues? Or was it more that the hoses gave up for some unknown reason and then when the engine ran out of oil that killed the oil pump?
@JLeeChron
@JLeeChron 5 жыл бұрын
Spencer S. Young combo of faulty oil pump /pressure lines/switches took it out. It’s a cold-weather issue that a few others are having as well, and there is a GM fix/recall type for it

I purchased a new Chevy 2500hd 4x4 and have had it back to original dealer but they wouldn't look at it. What my trucks issue is excessive steering play like 4 inches or more very hard to drive straight. I gave dealership a bad review of them and GM called me. I told them I was taking it to another dealer which was closer to me, for problems. I took it in after making an appointment where first time didn't help. Started driving home realizing that that didn't help took it right back another service manager looked at it and said it needs a new steering box. So when they had me bring it back when parts came in didn't order new box but just a gear. It did help some but after a week it's going back to problems again. So now have to make appointment or I think will just drop it off they will give me something else to drive.

Jake Schisler not sure either. It was running solid for the last 2000 miles or so, I assume they auction it off. Still under warranty and all is reported on carfax, I checked. Who knows, it could be a reliable runner to 200k miles. Makes me wonder about any newer used vehicle you buy, (what the story is behind them)

My 2017 Chevy Colorado ZR2 has had terrible transmission issues. I have now had it in the dealership six times (currently in the dealership getting a new transmission), I only have 46,000 miles on it! I’ve been battling with GM for two months trying to get them to do a buyback is anybody else having these kind of problems? The transmission would clunk or surge or lose power at low speeds around 1400 RPMs. Also glitchy electronics and the paint has faded and chipped on hood.

This happened to me back in 2004 with an Impala. GM bought it back and I was impressed with their honesty and customer service. Bought a Silverado as a replacement and had 13 years of complete reliability, one recall on the steering system fixed in about two hours. I traded that in for a 2500 Ram last year, 10,000 miles and not one issue so far. I do have a parking gear or something recall to be fixed but we'll see how long my Mexican truck lasts lol.

I had a 2003 Silverado--currently driving a 2017 Silverado. The infamous steering clunk; I think I had the 2003 Silverado in the shop 3 times for that. The third time was the charm. The only recall for the 2003 was the tail gate cables. Some genius at GM thought they could save money by changing from stainless steel ones to galvanized ones. The galvanized ones ending up corroding and snapping!

Tavo M GM offered their price to buyback- (There is a formula, check with the Better Business Bureau. Establish your case and they will help you) Once the price is agreed-upon By you GM, perhaps your lawyer, You’ll probably meet at a local dealership that is convenient for you. Make sure you detail the vehicle before turning it in, and collect your check. Will need to sign some paperwork which is part of the process. But the best part is cashing a check. Ha ha hope it goes well for you.

Max Payne I liked the ZR2 handling power and comfort. Unfortunately mine didn’t have The reliability. I drove my Tacoma 18k just as hard as the ZR2 6k ...and had not one problem. The rest of the truck is all original. Except for the lift kit I put on it. And the engine I changed out was still running fine. Burned a bit of oil but that's it. I rebuild it and it's in my garage ready to go back in when my crate engine gets tired. Then I will build that and put it in stock.

motaz1975 my parents have a 99 new body style Silverado with I think 150k miles on it and we just replaced the transmission. It was the typical valve body issue that plagued that generation. But it started at around 100k. It has towed a two horse trailer, then was a pest control truck with a rig till about 110k, of which my parents got it. Short of the normal wear of a nearly 20 year old car, it will be 20 end of his year literally the first year. But long story short I think they got this truck right and when they went to the 2003 style that’s when they went to crap in build quality, I had an 04. Looked at a 12 new they literally were sucking the life from the build quality. The 14-18and the 19+ they seem to have stopped doing that , but will see. Went to Chrysler in 12 and never looked back.

The most ironic part is the dealer is stealing parts of your car and transfer it to another vehicle while you wait for your parts its called Parts Donor, part donoring can ruin the reliability of the vehicle especially if that part is almost gonna break, here in Philippines it happens here if a certain unit is discontinued or for cost cutting by paying you extreme maintenance cost or else theyll gonna strip parts on your car and pay you cheap. Happened on a fleet car 2012 Ford Focus This is the reason why i sold my 2010 chevy Captiva This is why i like Toyota, no matter how old the vehicle is either discontinued or older generation, they’ll need a warranty proof and the parts even engine or transmission are freshly built from factory and delivered to the current dealership most important is they’re mass produced as they care for your car.

It being a new truck, not comfortable with a dealership tearing it apart and installing new components. Its the idea of it and also it being a newer model at the time, nothing ever goes smoothly. That, and when you are driving it from that point onward, you always know it could be problematic.

the number of recalls that the major auto mfg's are having lately is scary. Ford, Dodge, Chevy, Toyota ect...doors can fly open, throttles can stick, seat belts or air bags may not work and more. The flaw could be management...but the fact that modern cars and trucks are overly complicated doesn't help either. Most modern cars won't be on the road in 30 years like an old honda/toyota. My 2016 toyota corolla has already had 2 different recalls...one for the CVT trans computer and the other for the airbag/seatbelt controller.

My Ford Ranger spun a main bearing just after 1st service. Metal in oil. Car has 4 dents done at service not happy. Ford wants to replace motor. No way I want a new vehicle not one that's been molested by 4 apprentices who have never removed and replaced an engine. Anyway the dealer said yeah keep driving untill the new crate engine (long motor) arrives. Get it home no oil on the dip stick! Some tech obviously started my engine without oil, lays into it peppering it with dents then sends me away with no oil in engine a second time. How it didn't seize I don't know. I want a new vehicle. If Ford do the right thing I'll move forward of it...

Got rid of my new 17 z71 with 653 miles because it spent 3 weeks because the radio had no am reception, barely any fm. XM would go to static for minutes at a time or play two stations at once even after they fixed the am/fm. Then when I got it back it was diagnosed with a rough idle while in gear. GM, did nothing. GM Priority care was a nightmare. Before I went with toyota I did take it back to the dealership I got the service from. They had been a headache when servicing, but they cut me a very generous deal on a new 18. A deal to the point where I lost no money and maybe came out a little ahead relative to just walking in and buying it. I like my current Colorado, hoping it works but 1033 miles so far without issue. If the dealer hadn't been so generous I would have a new Tacoma which I really didn't want.

Discovered only one bolt on each side was holding the hood on....took it back and they fixed it. At 1200ish miles tranny was shuddering at lower speeds, took back to dealership...they said it was normal. At 11,000 miles drivers information screen and computer failed transmission shuddered to the point where finally the dealership confirmed that it was not normal...truck spent 3 weeks at the dealership waiting for a special GM tech to fix it. I picked up: my truck yesterday and put 40 miles on it to check for any issues...noticed a bad rattle comming from the firewall, noticed that the ECU computer was detached from the firewall.....I pressed it back into the clips that hold it into place.....
