I always wonder about the kids who live in houses where there are completely new decorations every year, if they ever get to make the memories. I appreciate your down to earth videos for this reason.

Always enjoy your Christmas decorating posts each year and that you repeat items, which are memory makers for our children! At 62, I still remember my late mother’s Christmas village spread out on the bay window ledge (about 10” deep) and on the dining room buffet along with the Advent Candle center piece on the dining table and all the fresh greenery she put up; and then the outside- life size manger with angels and then a life size Santa, sleigh and reindeer on the roof and pine wreaths on all the windows and a huge one on the front door and all the wreaths had red and white bows. I have tried to emulate some of that but more low key- lights on our fence over faux garland, a fake tree outside with lights and birdseed feeder and suet, small faux wreaths in each interior window and a large one on the front door with a red plaid bow and then, some flat surface decor in every room but low key. Our grandchildren go room to room to find the miniature Christmas gnomes somewhere in each room. Then our flocked tree is decorated in things my children and grandchildren have made, mercury glass pinecones and real pinecones and nature inspired ornaments. As my son said last year “all the ornaments are the same and so is the manger and angel topper but you have added things that kind of surprised me and now, my kids have the memory of the gnomes and are asking when we get to go to your house to find the gnomes, that’s a memory the love like when you hid the train cars to find each day leading to Christmas Eve and we would add each car onto the engine under the tree and on Christmas Eve, the last car was on and we started the train and we knew the next day was gift day!” Our son has the train now, one daughter has almost all the snow globes I use to set out, and the other daughter has one of my mother’s villages. Traditions are so important!

I grew up with my grandmother who never had Christmas as a child. My sister still not celebrating Christmas , that makes me sad because my nephew is growing like we grow. As a child didn’t have Christmas, but as a mother, I make sure we do small things. Christmas tree is up on December 1st every year. We do Christmas advent calendar. My oldest is 6 and she loves our little traditions. They have more than what I whoever had, and I’m so glad about that ❤️ I would love to be the person who decorates all the house, but I’m not 😅

I love all your decorations Cambriea. We had no Christmas growing up. Our parents were Jehovah Witnesses. After I got married I always decorated a lot for my kids. My youngest is 16 now. I still decorate but not as much. I didn't want my kids to lose out on their childhood fun like I did.

Cambriea, I just moved about 4 months ago to a larger 2 bedroom apt (w/laundry room 🙂). I'm happy, & now I got another 6.5 Christmas tree again! Just got it yesterday & today you are doing your Christmas decorating for 2024. Thank you, for your Christmas videos always puts me in the Christmas spirit. Yes, I Love the Christmas Village from Bobby's Grandma. I had a Christmas Village when my 2 kids were younger. So yes!

You need to do the top half of the tree facing the window as it can be seen from your windows that there is no decorations, i don’t do the back of mine unless any areas an be seen without anything , but you just need a few baubles to hang from the lowest level of the tree to break up the black basket x

I decorate right before and keep the decorations for a while into next year bc the start of the year always feels like a cold gray Monday and I prefer to have festive décor in Jan and the beginning of Feb, than during November 😄 November still has a bright fall vibe 🍁🍂

As I grow older, we tend 2 decorate more with a natural theme. The live Noble Fir is a forest of wildlife. Owls nestled as a family. Moose & deer, fill out the tree with primitive, & old fashioned photos of Christmas. + grapevine balls, snowy twigs, & frosted pinecones, all from treks in the forest together. The garland is grapevine( storebought) with clusters of red berries added for a splash of color. The topper is a rustic elk weather vane. Birds in bird nests all snuggled in the branches. Haven’t started decorating yet, but I did declutter christmas, easter and ’regular’ decorations yesterday and did a run with a packed car to the recycling center. Today my daughter cleaned the house so now we’re ready to decorate! 🎄🎅 I totally agree, I have my grandmas luciatåg and I think about her every year when I take it out of storage.

So we started doing a hot chocolate station for our kids about four years ago. The kids LOVE it. During the summer months, I don’t have it out. But once fall rolls around I pull out my little jars and tiered tray. (I have the same one as you but I chose the natural wood color. ) I went through a bunch of different ideas before finding that tray, and it works perfect! I keep our hot chocolate out all winter until around March and decorate it for every holiday. (Fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, and St Patrick’s Day). Usually I’ve got a jar of hot cocoa mix, (Starbucks is my fav) marshmallows, a jar of candy, paper straws in a themed mug, to-go coffee paper cups with lids and sleeves -themed to each holiday-, a small salt shaker filled with sprinkles, and cookies. This year I found super cute mug -sitter cookies at Aldi in pumpkin and leaf shapes. I’m on the hunt to see if they put out Christmas themed ones. My husband bought me a “Cocomotion” Mr Coffee hot cocoa mixer one year for Christmas and we use it every time we make hot chocolate. It’s amazing! Apparently they don’t make them anymore but you can still find some on EBay. I too went to HomeGoods a couple weeks ago and found super cute themed items for Hot Cocoa gifts. I decided to make “Hot Chocolate gift baskets” for my sisters families and their kids, and our Pastors family. I put in all the items listed above as well as a small plush snowman, a cute stacking mug set (Walmart or Temu), crushed peppermint sticks, chocolate snowman spoons, cocoa, pocky sticks, walkers shortbread cookies, and a hand held frother/blender. I plan on adding in marshmallows as well. I also went to Hobby lobby and found those little wooden trays that say “hot cocoa”. I think they’re meant for instant hot chocolate packs (like Swiss Miss) -but they look so cute in the baskets. I also grabbed the baskets from HomeGoods. Some clear cello basket bags and paper shred from the Dollar Tree, and a little ribbon, and we are good to go! A fun and easy whole family gift idea.
