Such infectious enthusiasm! Wish we could go back in time and I'd be right there in that audience! Thanks for posting.

I fell in love with the sound of banjos, took lessons, and have played ever since.

I guess after Randy Sparks died this year, they disbanded? Randy Sparks signed an album for me several years ago when they were in Newberry, SC at the opera house and did a great show. I loved Berry McGuire's big bold voice too.
Handy randy, thank you so much for all you, di, commie, & Mel did for us! I. Creole, in Sunnyvale. In ,well you'd not believe it.

This has to be from late 1963, just days before the start of the British Invasion!

Barry Kane often had his hair sort of flopping down on his forehead, so he was ahead of the curve.

Okay, Kenny Rogers is always credited as having been in the New Christy Minstrels, and I just read that he played double bass? Is that him on the bass at 2:46? So hard to tell without the beard...

Hello Allen, The bassist in this video is Clarence Treat. (original member) I read where Kenny joined later in 1966. Here is a link to a Facebook page with a photo of Kenny with the Minstrels. m.facebook.com/KennyRogersOfficial/photos/a.285047651525650/1572458579451211/?type=3 Thanks for your comments!

One of our fine KZbin commentators, indeed one “raymondviolot1710,” lets loose with an apparent acronym (WINC) which may be unknown to some KZbin viewers.
