It's cool to see some of the differences between the UK and Australia. I'm Australian and honestly, really love the sirens on the British emergency vehicles. I really love the paint jobs on the police cars and wish they changed to it in Australia. Love the ambulances too!

Hi Andrew answer to your question is that there has been multiple BWM vehicles x5 and 530’s across multiple forces that have, in short, blown up, one officer has died and another team of driver training were lucky to get out when theirs went up, its affecting late 2017-2018 models, BMW have taken responsibility, however, agreed to replace some engines but take thames valley police which is replacing almost all its fleet with Volvo as BMW cant find quick enough replacements or find replacement engines for a whole Fleet for a large portion of forces fleet.

Once again a great video! And quick question Whats the point of the city of London Police when you have the MET?
@Autofleet44292 жыл бұрын
they are responsible for policing the "City of London" the one square mile bit in the middle of "Greater London" but because the CoL is mainly banking and business the City Police have also developed into a specialist force for dealing with financial crimes and often work with other forces all over the UK helping them with financial crime related investigations, they also have a extremely close working relationship with the Met and often respond "Over the Border" to help them I've seen an City unit as far out as Orpington once.

Until the 1960s all cities and larger towns in England had their own police forces. When central government decided to amalgamate them to create the regional forces we now have, tbe Corporation of London was sufficiently powerful/influential to prevent the loss of its own force.

why are so many forces ditching bmw's in favour of volvos?

@cwbywlsh16562 жыл бұрын
@@andrewglen3940 yes, N57 and N58 engines in all BMW, but, its noticeable when the cars are pushed heavy constantly day in day out which is where the issues have been found i hope or rather think that consumer vehicles are not being pushed to their limits constantly to hopefully find a fault 😀

Why are UK public service buyers so averse to supporting UK manufacturers❓You won't see French/Italian/German authorities majoring on imported products.
@routemaster38772 жыл бұрын
The uk just doesn't produce the type of cars that make good police vechels, except maybe vauxhall (not really British) and land rover( very expensive)
@encoreunefois1X2 жыл бұрын
@@routemaster3877 I've wondered the same thing. Would it really not be possible for example to use a Jag XF ( Indian owned but still built in the UK) instead of 5 series? Even if the BMW were to be a better vehicle, surely the Jag is not so inferior as to make it unacceptable.
@ce99342 жыл бұрын
@@encoreunefois1X the price is what makes anything British inferior. BMW and Volvo are well versed in the emergency services game, and offer attractive prices, aftercare and easy sourcing of parts. Jaguar just don’t offer that, and the last time Jaguars were seen in forced they weren’t up to scratch (WMP kept them, in comparison to their Audis and BMWs, for a very short period).
@encoreunefois1X2 жыл бұрын
@@ce9934 That all makes sense. It still leaves the question of why JLR seem not to be bothered to raise their game. given it's their home market and I imagine of considerable marketing value.
@ce99342 жыл бұрын
@@encoreunefois1X it likely wouldn’t be worth their while. The same goes for the Volkswagen Group - Audi, and even VW, have comparable cars to the BMWs used but BMW has such a stronghold in the market they can’t be touched. Skoda do somewhat well because Skodas are deployed in different roles in forces (typically standard response, as opposed to mainstream high performance). Volvo is the only brand successful in ‘taking over’ - and that’s because they have a strong history in emergency service vehicles here in the UK. Jaguars just have never been popular.

Nice video guys! ........i have been busy this whole week making things for my family.....i made 2 different pairs of Heart shaped earrings for my cousin sister who is getting married this month on 22nd and since i won't be attending her wedding personally, i am giving these earrings to my parents to give it to her as my "Valentine's Day" gift from me (her second Eldest cousin, the oldest cousin is my elder brother and he is attending her wedding from the U.S)..... and well i was given an order by my mum's second sister, to make some mask holders for her since she loved it so much and well, she even told my mum that people in the train actually asked her where she bought those mask holders from and she told them "My eldest sister's daughter made them for me" and so now i am like making some more for her and i have gotten two done already and one more is on the way for her (in other words, i am still making the third one and by the way this aunt already has three that i already made for her the day before i broke my wrist) and i was planning to make one pair of Heart shaped earrings for my brother's wife who is staying back with my baby niece in the U.S because my niece has still not got her Covid shots yet so it could be dangerous for her to come....but i am giving my niece a cute Teddy bear and a beaded chain with her teddy bear.......so i gotta get all that stuff done and wrapped up by 19th of this month......and also i made a simple multi-strand beaded necklace for my mum to match her dress she is gonna wear for my cousin's wedding......so yeah! i am "as busy as a Bee" .....any way, have an amazing day today and everyday you three...... may you and everyone at your side stay and remain safe, protected and blessed always!.... 🙂

Makes you wonder why the City of London police, as a literal police force for a 1-mile square of super dense, super urban, super congested inner-city bother to use Volvo SUVs and BMW response cars?? In what world are they using the power of these vehicles. They should use small, squat cars which can slip through traffic easier. Or every officer rides a motorbike hahaha like a traffic cutting swarm with Vans trailing them to transport prisoners.
@Autofleet44292 жыл бұрын
The majority of the SUVs & BMWs are ARVs and thus need more space for the extra equipment they carry plus the cab itself needs to be bigger for the AFO/SFO's bulky load out. They also often respond outside of "The City" to assist the Met especially their Firearms officers, Dog units and Public-Order units, their ARVs are often some of the first units on seen of major incidents in Central London.

If a BMW 5 series hardly has enough payload to carry 2 armed officers + kit, kindly explain how a small hatchback would be a suitable alternative?
@cesariojpn2 жыл бұрын
@@ce9934 Wait, a BMW 5-series "isn't enough" to carry an AFO load out, yet elsewhere like in the US or Japan, a land boat sedan can do it easily and carry mostly the same kit without too much effort.
@ce99342 жыл бұрын
@@cesariojpn because they’re built for different markets. BMWs are built for the European market predominantly which demands economy carefully blended with performance, and, to an extent, nimbleness - roads are entirely different to the US. Vehicles can’t themselves be too heavy (which wound allow them to support more weight) because it would affect fuel economy.
