I wished I had found this like 2 weeks ago😅 started drawing my first ever web comic and it really took me a while to understand how this format works as I’m just used to the standard page layout. I noticed after drawing the sketch that I needed to add some panels and as I didn’t know better, moved EVERY panel on its own onto the next page😂 it took me hours to do this. I assumed there was a better way of doing this but as I was thinking in pages I didn’t think of just extending one page. So thank you very much, at least I’m wiser now😄

@walterostlie4 жыл бұрын
There's nothing you can do to directly make your comic featured. All you can do is make a comic you're really proud off, make sure you share your comic with people, make yourself available to be reached, do what you can to spread your comic around, do podcast, make friends with other creators, do fanart for other creators, etc. If your comic is the right fit for Webtoon Originals, they will reach out to you. Your comic may not be right for Webtoon, but that doesn't mean it isn't right for another platform or publisher. Don't limit yourself to just Webtoon.

@chrissyrey34 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say it’s for beginners. If it’s all you access to then that’s what you have. Yes photoshop is king of digital with clip quickly gaining rank. But I honestly love procreate, some great webtoons use procreate as their main drawing form. Each program has something they excel at and it’s the artist using the program that makes the great art. Their all just tools with different uses
@miss_mello_kitty3 жыл бұрын

before making moves you need to analyze what you do and which is the better tool to get it done, in PC you always see people claiming PhotoShop is the best and all-mighty but in reality, the truth is PS is for photograph editing and manipulation then the cruel truth is PS wasn't created neither the developers have the goal to make it the best art creation software, in the case of Procreate we are talking on mobile app, both procreate and CSP have full features in mobile, both are powerful and art-oriented, now what do you the most and need most???? if you are a comic creator then go for CSP but if you are an illustrator then you can keep going with procreate, CSP is a monster app for comic creation, believe me, and in PC is a real beast, totally surpass Photoshop by far, I could mention over 30 things CSP can do and PS cant while is hard to find at less one CSP cant, CSP is designed to get the job done, you will get in your hands powerful tools and after use it, you will not want to go back to other Softwares
@chrissyrey33 жыл бұрын
I’ve looked into my options and what I need it for. I would love to explore CSP at some point and I already have experience with photoshop. But at the end of the day I love my procreate, I think even if I had CSP I would use procreate as my main means to draw. I use my big ole iPad that I can use anywhere and I can hook it up to my Mac if I want a even bigger screen. I use 100% procreate to make my webComic, Immortal Souls that is up on WebtoonCanvas, I think like most artist and especially comic artist, we use several programs bc they each excel at one over the other. But at the end of the day I make procreate work, my only complaint is how big I can get my canvases but that’s my Ipads fault not really procreate 😁

I guess this is for folks who are specifically using Webtoon only, because it seems extremely unpolished/wieldy if you have a comic that is going for multiple formatting such as physical print and on other websites. The current process I use for converting our comic to Webtoon friendly is far more streamlined. I hope they improve this in the future. The lack of seeing mobile/desktop at the same time is definitely something that is sorely needed.
@walterostlie3 жыл бұрын
I dunno, I think it's pretty slick, especially when you're dealing with episodes that push pass 70,000px tall, which is normal for a lot of webtoons. And that's if you're only working at 800px wide, which I'm not, so my episode length is around 150,000px. It's a great way to keep the load on the CPU to a minimum while still being able to make sure the pacing and storytelling is working across that entire +70,000px. Yeah, there are a few features I'd like to see added, which I've sent to them, but this is pretty kick butt in the meantime. But yeah, if you're working in print format and uploading print format to webtoon, or shorter episodes, you may not need all the fuss of these features.
@Rattlecat3 жыл бұрын
@@walterostlie I'm not sure how to convert our comic to that sort of set up. We've got about 6 chapters that I still have to convert over, and thus far it feels unwieldy doing something like copy/pasting it into the webtoon set up. Do you have any suggestions on how to move pages that were prepared for print into the Webtoon format? Or is it better if we just start making future chapters in the webtoon format?
@walterostlie3 жыл бұрын
You don't have to do webtoon format. There are some popular print format comics on Webtoon. It's just vertical is more popular. It is a a fair bit of work to copy paste to webtoon style, no way around that. Hard to say if it's worth it for you. If print is your endgame, I'd stick to working in that format at least for drawing. But would suggest converting to webtoon for upload if you have the time or money to do it.

Well. That might actually make me buy csp. If they add a propper tool for doing the flats like krita has id switch in an instance... text editing in krita is a nightmare...
@walterostlie4 жыл бұрын
Yea krita text is nutso. At least krita is free, you could do the bulk of the work in clip and just export to krita for flats, then reimport. Clip does have an intelligent paint bucket tool that is aware of lines, so may just be a matter of time before they add it.

Hi, I have a question, I updated mine and it's all good coz there's the webtoon option, however, the "story" menu at the top isn't there...is there any way to add that menu?

YOOOOOO WHAT?! OMG I have to change canvases for all the sketches I have so far xD (They're on ten 30k pixel canvases lol) Welp, time to update CSP EX.

Let me know how it goes, I am going to try taking my separate files and throw them into this new method as well. It's going to help a lot with just rearranging panels and adding panels when I want to mess with pacing.

Unfortunately, I don't have the "Story" menu, so I'm missing on most of these things, but still, everything else it's really useful!!

Story's an EX version thing I think. Glad some of the video was of use though.

I think Clip Studio usually has a sale at the end of February. I got the EX version in the sale maybe 2? years ago and can only recommend it. Especially because you don't have to pay monthly like with other software, but only have to buy it once.

Uuuh walter if you dont mind can you answer this question? I'm aware that csp is availible for ipad, but if I get a drawing tablet, will it need to be connected to a computer or pc? I'm very confused about this? I have a laptop but I don't know if that works either :-: And itll probably be a screen tablet where I can see what im drawing on it. Thank you so much in advance!!
@walterostlie4 жыл бұрын
Most drawing tablets need a computer to connect to. You may be able to find a tablet that can connect to an iPad or find an app that can make it connect. However, if you have an iPad why would you want an additional drawing tablet, the iPad acts as it's own drawing tablet if you get the apple pencil.

does much of the content only works with the most expensive Clip Studio membership? I have a membership, and I downloaded the new upgrade, but I don't have all the content like the one you have. :(

Yea some of the features are EX only. Maybe wait for a sale and do the discounted sale price for upgrade

I wish there was a way to take comic page files and convert them into the Webtoon format.
@walterostlie3 жыл бұрын
Like an auto-process? That would be cool. You could prolly make a photoshop script to do it. But manually doing it isn't too hard.

@@walterostlie do I open up my comic file and create a WEBTOON file and just copy and paste each panel and bubble into the WEBTOON file?
@walterostlie3 жыл бұрын
@@andrewrowland1989 yup, pretty much. I'd do the balloons seperately so you can make them a little bigger and it's okay for them to break out of the panel or just be placed in the gutters so that you can make them big enough to read.
