Ok, thoughts after watching. It's very pretty, but think I like It's a Mood better. I also find it confusion how they've released two big palettes that are so similiar within such a short time frame. I loved your version of it as a 12 pan palette. You really need to work for Colourpop, and when you do can you make smaller purple palettes that aren't as repetitive hahaha

I feel cp flogs a colour story to death. Like they could release X neutral palettes, y brights, z deep shades within a year... But space them out. It's like all their recent palettes lean dark and then another bunch of neutrals or soft shades will be released week after week.

It’s a Mood is more “jewel tones” than this one. So I’m confused lol There are more colors visually but not in quantity… way more neutrals than the It’s a Mood. I have So Jaded and It’s a Mood and they’re good companion palettes.

I also think a 12 pan would’ve been so much better. Like what they wanted Sonic Blooms to be lol That Fractal shade is literally the only duochrome they use in palettes, I have it 3 times over 🙃

For anyone curious... The shade "Fractal" in the "Play It Jewel" palette, it's pretty much an EXACT dupe for the shade "Verbana" in CP's own "Sonic Blooms" palette. IMO...It send like they have been launching so much so fast, they are duping themselves...again & again...and just using the same shadow but slapping a different name on it. Which is really sad cause I adore CP, I'm actually about to unbox about 7-8 boxes of stuff I've ordered over the last month or so from CP, so I really love them...but there are only so many colors you can do and people are seeming to be getting burnt out on CP & their rapid fire launches. They would do so much better is they would just slow down!

I'd really like to see them slow down as well and do something a little bit more interesting and innovative. I'd love to see them get into doing more duo chrome shades and multidimensional colors.

That “Fractal” shade is in MULTIPLE CP palettes lol I know I have it in 3 different palettes already. It’s like you tell them duochrome and they beat the same one to death.

@@kam0406 that would be really awesome if they would slow down on the amount of releases they are consistently putting out weekly if not more than once a week... and while they're slowing down on their releases they can take that time to work on things like you said, like creating different shades that are more Duochromes and more multi-dimensional shades... instead of giving us the same repeat Shades over and over again and just slapping a different name on them each time. It was very telling when the ulta exclusive Cabana palette came out, that they were 100% duping colors and just renaming them because Ulta accidentally posted the original names of each shade and then corrected it with hopes I'm sure that nobody had noticed but somebody notices everything in the beauty Community LOL

@@RoKer13 I know I've seen it in probably a dozen pallets that I have LOL the only reason that shade verbena was in the front of my mind LOL was because I had seen a bunch of shade comparisons for the new play it Jewel palette on someone's story and they specifically took the shade fractal and compared it to the other most recent palette that was released that had the exact same shade but just had a different name. So you are absolutely right that exact shade is in a ton of pallets along with another pinky duochrome shade that is in the Truly Madly Deeply palette along with about six other pink-tone to palettes... at least... it's to the point that I wonder if they think that we're stupid and don't think that will notice or if they truly are out of ideas or just don't care and that's why they continuously give us the same shade over and over again just in different color stories or moved around differently in a pallet... it's genuinely quite sad because they are one of my favorite brands but it's to the point where I would much rather wait six months or so for say glamlite to come out with a really unique and beautiful collection rather than just mass-produce the same colors over and over again every single week. And you really would think that they would notice because none of their collections are selling out like they used to, take last year for instance with the Hocus Pocus collection that was almost impossible to get your hands on any part of it and now this year both pallets are still in stock along with pretty much everything else out of the collection as well oh, so you think they would take that into consideration the fact that they aren't selling out like they used to either. It just seems like they're more on the cash-grab side of the beauty Community now rather than actually focusing on putting out stuff that is really exciting and different

@@melissa.loves.makeup I totally agree! And that was a good catch! I'd love to see Colourpop make NEW shades! Most of their shades are warm and have either yellow or red in the base. I'd like to see them venture out into making more pure blue tones shades and shades with true pigment bases. The colors are redundant and I can only guess that is because the colors they produce are the easiest for them to churn out quickly.

I'm excited that CP is offering an eye shadow primer, but I'd love to see them offer a white or very light color as well. Light colored primers make shadow pop so nicely.

They almost got me with this palette! The $48 for I was about to go in for this and You're Golden....but truly I don't need it. I just got the Gather Round Sistas and Natasha Denona Retro recently...I definitely don't need 2 large palettes added to my collection right now. Since I turned my palettes into singles and started buying singles in the colours I wanted and was missing I find most palettes an easy skip as I already own most of the shades. I also find that when I dupe palettes I still mostly use the same eyeshadows for the dupes! But I do miss getting excited about palettes - I want to want them 🙃 You do such a great job with all your reviews, they are so thorough but not boring 👍 Also I loooove your swatches 🥰

I think you said it quite perfectly... it's not that people who love colour-pop have lost their love for the brand but it makes it hard for us to want to spend our money on things when it seems as though they're just recycling shadow colors and putting different names on them... I very badly want to want to get certain things but even though the collections are pretty and there might be one or two things that are different in the end the main part of the show if you will, the eyeshadow palettes are basically just neutrals with pops of color and the pops of color that were getting are already in previous palette. So when you're a collector like a lot of us are it makes it hard to want to spend money on an eyeshadow palette when you know you have probably six other colourpop palettes that have the exact same color as what they're about to release

I do have So Jaded as well as lots of other CP palettes. However, i do still plan on getting Play It Jewel and possibly It's A Mood as well, only because i plan on depotting both and using the shadows as singles to create custom palettes that i can change around for seasonal looks and for travel. I feel like this will streamline my makeup desk and help keep my favorite palettes intact.

I need to try deporting and just having them as singles. I straight up hate glitters.. And will rarely use a matte with glitter... In fact I've dug out the shades in some palettes cuz they were messy. Any tips on depoting CP?

I totally agree with you that an edited down version would have been even more interesting. Having said that, I do love the size of their mega palettes. I do feel like I missed out on So Jaded, so I think I'm gonna get this one. I also really want to try the eye primer.

I’m honestly feeling the same way…very middle of the road for me as well. I just got It’s a Mood back when it launched and also picked up and received my latest Hocus Pocus order. I feel like I would’ve been more tempted to pick it up if it had been a 12 pan jewel toned palette instead of another mega palette. Lol honestly since last year my eyeshadow palette collection has grown like crazy. I’m getting to the point where I wanna stop buying, sit down and fully enjoy all the palettes I’ve accumulated. 😅 As always, thank you so much for your hard work and time that you spend doing these videos. I can see why this was made. I noticed on IG in the past year that many people were "requesting" ( and that is saying it politely ) that they wanted the So Jaded back in stock. I think with this one, as you say, is a dang good replacement. Too colourful for me, but if you had no CP eyeshadow palettes, this would be a good one to cover all looks from neutral to very colourful. :-)

I think that since it’s magnetic you can buy the big one and create your own 12 pans from it. Then switch out shades season to season. I’ll pass on this one but I like that Colourpop is magnetic

I think this palette is beautiful! I'm happy to see zero glitters as well! That being said, your curated palette at the end has such a great color story. I would be more likely to pick up something like that versus the larger palette.

I'm honestly surprised it took them this long to come out with an eye primer! I'm definitely interested but I want to wait for a sale I just bought the hocus pocus palette feel like I can't keep up. Wish we had their release roster for the rest of the year so in case we want something more but it doesn't come out until December we can save our money if that makes sense. I love Colourpop. I own a lot bc it’s affordable and USED to be so much fun. But the past 1-2 yrs has turned into nothing more than a CASH GRAB. Even if I got it for free in PR Id just wouldn’t want it anymore. The company releases way too much and now they are DUPING THEMSELVES. I learned awhile back I didn’t need every darn palette. I literally have every color x TEN. They need to do something to reinvent themselves bc it’s just boring anymore. Very jaded. I’d love to see something new like an all duochrome or trio chrome palette. The INDIE brands are killing it with those! People keep buying and feeding into this crazy cash grab bc god forbid they don’t have every palette ever released. CP is for collectors these days NOT your average daily makeup consumer. I often come back to these CP videos for comparisons/inspiration, even after I’ve purchased the palette(s) you discuss in the video, and I just wanted to say that I bought this palette last fall not long after it came out and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it. If anyone reading this is just starting to build a collection (as I was when I bought this), I cannot recommend this palette enough. I missed out on the RBK palette but as you showed in your comparison swatches, there are more than several shades here that dupe shades in that palette (and with other CP releases, I’ve been able to dupe/approximate the others). It’s really unfortunate that this was released so close to It’s A Mood; I really don’t think it got its proper time to shine or be appreciated for what a workhorse “colorful” palette this is, especially since it doesn’t have any pressed glitter OR mattes with glitter, which people so often dislike.

Honestly, it’s a pass for me! I don’t pull for the big palettes as much as smaller ones. They’re almost overwhelming. Plus, like you mentioned, I feel like I have most shades already. For people who LOVE jewel tones and are pumped for those shades for Fall, I can see them being really excited about it. But for me, ima save that money for another palette! 😄

Hi Amanda, I really love your edits and how you design your own palette sometimes of how it could have been. I too was looking at the colors in it and saw just 15 shades they could have used to make a more compact palette. I have So Jaded and It’s a Mood, and the only big difference is there are pinks in Play It Jewel. Which I do want to try more of, but I can just get a 5 pan or something when I’m brave enough lol A year ago if this was released, it probably would’ve been my favorite palette. I love the colored shimmers, would love a small palette with more of those! I’m in the middle but this is good as a beginner palette for new makeup users.

Your comparisons save me so much money. I popped out all the pressed glitters in my palettes and replaced them with other singles. I loaded the glitters into a z palette and sold it 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for doing this video as quickly as you could. The eye primers look interesting, I like the squeeze tube with the applicator. I have been trying to get into more colorful shadows instead of always going for neutrals, this palette looks like it would be a great way to start, the colors have a nice balance and your swatches look amazing.

Ooh if they could come out with foundation balms as well! Solid cream foundations like the Max factor miracle touch are my favourite kind of foundation formula, because they are so easy to apply and easy to control the coverage of.

I love CP, but they keep releasing the same thing over and over...They should get inspo from Jolie Beauty, I just reviewed her witchy Sorceress palette and have Vampyrism coming soon too 🙉 IT'S STUNNING. Now that brand knows how to release beautiful palettes with lots of color AND some neutrals to use everyday or glam up. I do wanna try CP's eye primer tho. I'm adoring your channel Amanda! Just recently started dabbling into makeup again as I want to try bolder colors. So... as a first mega palette Jewel is probably a good pick. I've been doing a lot of "here are palettes I like" and then what colors seem to overlap/equivalents, between, in particular It's A Mood versus Play it Jewel. The two do cross a lot, so the glitters really knock Mood down for me. Also it has more eye warning shades, another knock. But I do like the layout visually in Mood better (but if most of the same things are there, it's just about layout, not offerings). So, yes, for those with things already, probably a pass. But me, seems a good buy to get a nice range and almost a "best of" of many other collections (aside from cool/smokey). Otherwise I would agree on a 12.

I agree wholeheartedly that this could have been edited down to a 12-pan palette. Had it been so, I probably l would have been on board to get it since you say this is a better formula than my So Jaded palette. I am not really interested in mega palettes anymore. I want to see Colourpop coming out with a bridal palette with soft pinks, lavender and cool toned neutrals. No pop of bright colors. This might be a boring color story, but they're already running out of ideas for color stories anyway. If they're going to continue releasing palettes with neutrals and a pop of color then I want one that's a little on the softer side.

I get such a better application that is opaque when I use those silly sponge applicators. Less dust kick up too. Call me old fashioned but the sponge tip applicators blend and don't remove product like almost all of my brushes.

where jaded had purples, this has wines ('cuz amethyst isn't a jewel?), making it not fit a replacement for me, despite everything else being the same. mood is interesting, but am more likely to get some smaller palettes with the exact colors I'm looking for, even though the big ones are so pretty to look at

Yup, I'm not interested in the palette, but I am interested in the eye primer. I have oily lids and CP shadows don't last very long on my lids. I'd love to see if this is a dupe for the UD primer.

Me too! I have textured eyelids but good primers are so expensive. I really want to try this and see if it works! Their non-eyeshadow products usually work well, and they’re so underrated.

I ordered it's a mood a couple of weeks ago and am still waiting for it to get to me being in the UK. I could be wrong but I feel like the shades in it's a mood might be a bit more wearable. I wear some colour but nothing too bright and the new palette looks much brighter.

It’s like they made Its a Mood but without the glitters. Which is nice? I guess? The comparison swatches look so similar or at least they give similar enough vibes that on the eyes it probably wouldn’t be distinguishable. I like your 12 pan palette, and it would have really gone in nicely with their current offerings in that size

i was excited for this but it doesnt have any glitter so that bummed me out! But im glad that i already got the It's A Mood palette cause it's kinda similar, just a bit more moody. More importantly it has my glitters!!

If I had to compare the play it jewel palette to the it's a mood palette, personally I think the it's a mood palette is prettier between the two, Plus it's a mood is such a beautiful fall palette, perfect for this time of year.

My eyeshadow collection is not that big. There are a lot of shades here I don't own. The only question is do I want to own them? I don't like blue eyeshadow, and I don't like pink either. I love jewel tones so I don’t ever mind multiple jewel toned palettes but I don’t get why they came out with it’s a mood at all. Why not just do play it jewel? It’s like they’re creating competition for themselves 😂

I like It’s a Mood better though bc there are way more browns in Play It Jewel. If you want fall themed colors, It’s a Mood. Color and neutrals, Play It Jewel.

I want to give the primer a try. I'm surprised they didn't come out with a white & black one as is super popular these days to make 1 shadow super versatile. Decisions are hard :) I don't have any CP mega palettes, I'm not dying for one but half the shades are lovely, half are too neutral or orangey for me.. I'm surprised how similar Jewel is to the It's a mood. I don't know why I want to like Play it Jewel more & that be the one I end up getting on sale one day, but I think it's a mood would be better for me because of the more jewel tones (and the shimmer purple), but the other has more shimmers, and I'm not into the pressed glitters. I feel like I may end up with Play it Jewel one day.
